I'm looking for some feedback from Henning, and anybody else who may have some experience with this problem. I have two Limited Custom pistols, both filled with Hennings products. I've started shooting again after a two year layoff, and within a month I've broken the extractor on both pistols. One of them had broken an extractor only about 5000 rounds, (and over 2 years) ago. I haven't changed any other parts on the guns lately, and I'm using the same brass as before. I've tried feeding dummy rounds through the chambering process by racking the slide and watching them feed, I can't see any problems. Could this be just a coincidence, or do I have a problem? The first extractor broke (over 2 years ago) after about 15,000 rounds, I didn't think anything about it, extractors break. Then last month, the extractor broke in the second gun, it probably had 12,000 to 15,000 rounds through it. So I figured extractors only last about 15,000 rounds in these guns. But now after only about 5,000 rounds, the first gun broke again. I'm just wondering if the two years of none use could have anything to do with this issue. Ideas?

I use the Race Master with my Limited Customs, it is very good. I have noticed on occation that I will hit my finger on the lock when making a quick draw, it is about the only thing that could use an improvement. It locks in well, comes out super smooth, it's very reliable. Just make sure to locktite your set screws once you are sure on the holster postion.

I shoot lead for practice all the time, no problems. But you might want to consider plated or jacketed for matches, cuts down on the smoke and you can see your targets easier when you shoot several rounds from one location.

Already done, I was just needing a factory rear site and got it from the guy who sold me the gun. Too bad though, ordering direct from Henning you knew you would get what you needed. So is Henning at least going to post who his new dealers are so we can try ordering from them, or are we just suppose to find them on our own? I didn't see any links on his website. This time I needed a factory part, what if I need one of Hennings parts?

What happened to the number to place an order with Henning? I've looked all over his website, twice, and don't see it. I don't remember it being hard to find in the past. Also, I see a note there about international orders going through distributors, so who is sending me parts? Henning or someone who doesn't really know the parts except by a number on the package? I need something ordered in a hurry, this wasn't a problem in the past, I hope this is still the case. If there is still a phone number to place an order from Canada, can someone pass it along to me, thanks. The only number I could find was for arranging returns.

I've noticed the same thing with my Tanfoglios,.... perhaps another opening for a part to be improved upon by everyones favorite Tanfoglio parts supplier. Is a new and improved trigger bar somewhere in your plans Henning?

Anybody know a good Tanfoglio gunsmith in Canada?

I load mine to 1.170" and have no problems. I tried longer lengths, up to 1.200" because of some of the talk I heard, but I saw no benefits from it. In fact I had to use more powder to make Major Power Facter in IPSC. Don't believe everything you read, experiment for yourself, with your equipment.

I'm not much on accuracy as I shoot IPSC , but around these parts Montana Gold seem to be the standard bullet for Standard and Open guys. Anybody know how these rate on the accuracy scale?

Lots of paper towel and some elbow grease works for me. I try to keep the harsh chemicals off the finish of my guns.

I suspect it is more of an individual thing. I have one with slide lightening, one without, and I find the lightened one comes back to point of aim alot better. The un-lightened one has a noticably heavier front end which I find more difficult to shoot quickly. With splits of about .25 not much difference, going sub .20 I find a noticable difference.

I find that coming down onto a target blind that I often shoot it very low. It is now my pratice to shoot from bottom to top when possible. Works for me.

No problem shooting lead through my Limited Custom in .40.

I put mine on a seperate press. I was having too many problems getting the cases to feed into the smaller mouth of the U-die while in my Dillion 650. I only resize mine every 5-10 cycles as I only have 10 round mags here in Canada and getting the rounds in the mag is not an issue like those trying to get maximum rounds in.

I doubt it is your media causing the problem, I've cleaned over 80,000 rounds and mine still works fine. I just add some Dillon Rapid Polish every 3 - 4,000 or so, and it keeps working. When I use my U-die I make sure to use the case lube, mostly for helping with pulling it out easier, but it probably helps to keep from scoring as well. I have only resized my brass after it has been cleaned and I have never experienced that problem.

Mind if I use one of those pictures as my desktop picture They are Beautiful. But why 2? I shoot IPSC and it's nice to have a back up gun to use especially when travelling to a distant location for a match. At the Canadian IPSC Nationals this year the elevation screw broke off of the rear sight. At the match I just pulled out the second gun and kept shooting. I could have tried to change out the rear sight there, but then there are three issues. First, I would have to get the rear sight out, which was loctited in and required heat to loosen the screws. I had to use my propane torch (matches didn't work) when I got home to loosen them. Second, I would then have to sight in the gun again which I find usually leaves me a little unsettled for a few stages until I'm sure about my hits on the more difficult shots. Third is the time it takes to make the change and do the sighting in. I'd end up feeling rushed, probably fall behind my squad and have to make up stages later. As it was it only took about 10 minutes to call over the Range Master and ok the change of guns, and I was back in the game. Probably took about the same amount of time if I had to go to the bathroom. In the past I've travelled with only one gun (not Tanfoglio), and at one match had a trigger bar break on the last shot of the match. I didn't have a spare. Had it occured on the first shot, I would have spent over $500 to take 1 shot. That got me thinking to have a back-up just in case. What can I say, I like the feeling of being prepared.

As for "crisp" I think that refers to a trigger that requires little movement or preloading of the trigger before the gun fires. When you feel resistance on the trigger, anymore movement will cause it to fire. Perhaps someone else can explain it better. As for trigger pressure, many top shooter in Standard Division have triggers under 2 lbs. In fact my CZ Tactical Sport came with a 28 ounce (about 1 1/2 lbs.) from the factory, and that is a normal trigger weight for that gun as far as I understand. However, I think it is best for newer shooters to start with a heavier trigger until they are a little more experienced in the sport of IPSC, just to prevent any accidental discharges.

I have both styles and find that for me the lightened slide is much better. The unlightened one is noticably heavier on the front end when I grip it. When shooting, that extra weight takes extra effort to control. The lightened one has much better balance in my hand and comes right back on target after a shot. I run a 12 lbs spring in both, I had a 10.75 lbs in the lightened one before, and it just seemed to be hammering pretty hard.

I have the red checkered grips and recently added the new magwell in red as well. That magwell is awesome. I just shot a 17 stage Provincial championship here in Canada, 346 rounds. With a 10 round limit on mags, you know there were a lot of mag changes going on. I installed the magwell 4 days before the match, and it was so easy to get used to. I can say that not a single mag change stands out in my mind, because they were all so smooth. I have put in my order for a second magwell for my back-up gun. I happened to win the match, but only by 15 points. I can't say that with the factory magwell I would have messed up a mag change, (and possibly lost the match), but I can say that I didn't mess up a single mag change with my new Henning Magwell.
