Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I've purchased a couple boxes of these in target grade and cowboy grade for use in my Dan Wesson PM7. Just curious as to what you guy's are using with these. I have WST, HP-38, Bullseye, Unique, clays, uni clays. Thanks for any direction guy's
  2. I just recently had to send my 40 cal large steel frame gun back to EAA for some warranty work. The extractor broke last time I shot at the range. I also mentioned that the inside of the barrel had scratches down the length of the barrel, almost like someone had screwed a bolt down the inside. You really had to look to see them but they were there. I sent it off with a note saying what was wrong, 1 week and a day after they received it I had it back with a new barrel, recoil spring, mag and a whole new upper slide fitted. I was frick'in shocked at all the work that was done in a short amount of time. I figured they would replace the extractor and say the barrel is what it is. The gun shot great before so the machining marks weren't hurting the accuracy that much if any. I must say they STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.
  3. The scratches are real fine looking tool marks. The gun shoots Zero and PD jackets quite well. I only shoot at about 12 yards so it's hard to tell how much it would be effecting accuracy with those bullets. I didn't bother having him slugging the bore after he said your leading probs are from this rough bore. My guess is that's how these are. I'm sure their more expensive models have a better barrel.
  4. I have a EAA Wittnes 40 cal that I was having a hell of a time with leading. I have been using Penn 165 match grade bullets. The load I found with the least leading was with AA#5. I decided to have the barrel slugged to make sure my bullets were sized right. The smith told me the inside of the barrel had scratches all the way down it going across the rifling. It looks like someone screwed a bolt down the barrel just a hair bigger in diamiter. This is most likely causing my leading issues. The gun shoots great (with jacketed bullets) and I know it doesn't have a match grade barrel, what would you expect for under 500. Does anyone know if there is a product like Tubbs Final Finish for handguns. Thanks much for any advise

  6. I have used it in 40,45 and 357. I believe my load was 9.6 for a 158sjhp. It shot good and the powder meters real good. I forget exactly the charge for my 40 but it shot good. I don't really load hot as I just paper punch. Just tonight I loaded 7.2,7.6 and 8gr with a 230FMJ. It seems a little snappy compared to BE or clays.
  7. What would minor and major be for a 45 with a 200 and 230. What about a 40 using 165 and 180. I have seen pf referenced in spring weights, like 160 to 180 etc. I want to load some lead and have heard that some bullets are designed for major or target loads. Not sure what the velocity range would be.
  8. I'm about to venture out and start shooting some lead slugs. The handguns will be a GP100, EAA 40 and a newly aquired PM7 45. I"ve looked around and can't make up my mind. I usually don't shoot real light loads but for target practice I don't shoot anything hot either. Should I be looking for a bullet with a higher BH? I hear there is less chance of leading. I've also heard there is more of a chance of leading due to the bullet not sealing properly. That's when the confusion set in. What do you guy's use and what velocity are you shooting them at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Aside from searching the 40 load section you can also contact Roze, they have data for all their bullets. You will only get data for 1 or 2 powders though.
  10. I have used Benchmark, Varget, H4895, H322 and H335. I save my Varget for heavier loads,69 and up. Varget still shot the 55 real good. I hear Benchmark is good for lighter bullets as well as H335. You can't go wrong with Varget for the 223. I seated my rounds to the crimp groove. I was using Lapua 55fmj. AR15.com has tons of info for the AR platform and reloading.
  11. i emaled them the other day and was told the spp and lpp are harder than before.
  12. Well I took a turn in a different direction and ordered a Dan Wesson PM 7. I've heard great things about them and decided to buy one. I've been going back and forth researching different 1911's. DW was on the top of my list but funds didn't allow it. Oh well, buy once cry once.
  13. Maybe Brownells or Numrich gun parts might have what you need. They will at least know if there is any interchangable parts.
  14. I have a older full size standard wonder finish 40cal wittness I have been shooting for a little while now. I'm not sure of the round count as I bought it used. I've been pndering on giving it a "tune up", maybe replacing some of the springs or other maintnence type parts. What would you suggest that might need freshening up. The gun seems to run flawless now but I'd feel better if it was tuned up. I used to have a 45 full size that pooped out on me at the range on my last shot. I believe the trigger plunger broke, EAA fixed the problem under waranty. Any input would be greatly apreciated.
