  1. There's not a prize table at SSN? So it's a trophy only match or...? I plan on trying to shoot it either way but would like to know what to expect.
  2. Stage results are here = http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-display-match-results-detail.php?action=summary&indx=3256&compid=7 edit: durr, stage names = first video is Walk the Planks (obviously), second one is Down the Tee I agree with what everyone else is saying regarding your COG but I would say I have to disagree with you on "seeing your front sight". I hope I don't offend you but on the first video you had a Mike and a NS...then on the second video you had 2 Mikes. That should tell you that you aren't seeing your front sight as you think you are seeing it, unless you're calling those shots and are just not making up the shots. Slow down just a tad, especially on the hard targets and don't worry about pure speed on your shots. I have a friend that started shooting with me this past year and he is only concerned about speed and not really his points. It doesn't hurt you if all the targets are pretty close up and are easy targets but he learned you can't shoot every stage like that. Although he was beating a lot of people on "time" he was still losing stages because of points down. Just something to think about...
  3. How is the prize table at SS-Nationals? Do you get anything better or more if you're shooting a Springfield pistol since they are the main match sponsor if you win your class?
  4. I just purchased the Trojan and after handling the Spartan I'm glad I did however mine is in 40. I bought mine off of gunbroker with dp fiber front sight and a Smith and Alexander magwell for 1090 shipped to my free ffl. I hope it runs out of the box and doesn't need work to get it running as I've read that they may need to but since yours is a 45 I would think it would be good to go. They do have the exact configuration in 45.
  5. No chrono...at least not last year. Bring a cart, although if you park in the middle of the range you can walk back and forth to your vehicle if need be and it's not too far away.
  6. This was a fun match and perfect weather! Wish I would have shot a little better but those small square pieces of s**** (steel) left me dumbfounded on a couple of stages. I really don't like the random prize tables as it takes away from all of the shooters that won thier divisions etc...but I did win a gun on the random draw first out of the box! Thanks to all the RO's and match staff for making this a fun and quick match. We shot 10 stages and we were done by 2p.m. The wedding was top notch, the bike rally was cool, the beer was cold as was the river, and the steaks were fantastic!!!!
  7. Also looking forward to seeing my brother, who's stationed at Ft. Leonardwood. He's gonna come out with some of his fellow soldiers and watch me stink it up. Thanks to all that serve!!!!!!
  8. Looking forward to the cooler weather and hopefully a B class win in limited! Far fetched predictions are better than none right???? C. Stanton
  9. My range recently added one of these swinging stars, pretty similar in build, and that thing is wicked tuff! I'm sure they'll throw it in our next club match to really mess with us.
  10. I would try this load because I use 5.8 on my .40 major loads and run around 168 power factor. So if you turn it down to the suggested 5.2-5.3 I think that would be a nice round to shoot minor.
  11. 3 of us are sending in our apps today for this match. I wish there was a little more info available since this will be my first time shooting it. Everyone says that it's a good match and the shoot-off is pretty cool too.
  12. Jordan it was good shooting with you on friday and congrats on your finish. Chad
  13. Thanks everyone for making this a great match, Ro's, stats, everybody!!! The stages were awesome and the prize table had lots of stuff to pick from an we were out of there pretty early.
  14. I am having EZWin scoring program trouble and I will have the scores here ASAP. Thanks Ron!!!
  15. Had a good time shooting this match. Thanks to all who were involved in getting this match going and to the RO's for getting everybody through 12 stages in one day. It was nice being done by 5 on saturday and it turned into an eventful evening. Has anybody seen any scores?
  16. That's gonna make for a long day but not a bad idea. How wet was the range yesterday?
  17. Wow, what a match! This is was my first Major 3-gun match and 4th 3-gun match overall and I can't say enough about how well everything went. THANK YOU to all of the staff, RO's, Match Director and everyone else that had anything to do with this match. I'll definitely be back next year. How great was it that Larue took one of our shooters guns, that broke, back to their shop, fixed it for free and brought it back to him in under an hour ready to go! How freaking awesome is that!!! Thanks again to all the sponsors and to Mark Larue for all of your help and your staff as well! See ya next year... Chad
  18. That's funny...becuase a guy I shoot with always shoots classifiers pretty well but doesn't shoot other stages as good as his classification. I know I have told him almost the exact same thing. He doesn't want to shoot a classifier fast because he didn't want to move up. I told him to just slow down and relax and shoot it like you see it. He does and he moved up a class in just over a month! not that he really wanted to but he did and now if he'll just relax and do that on other stages he'll continue to improve. Just relax and "keep it simple, stupid" is great because we all over think stages sometimes.
  19. I used to try to hard on classifiers as well and then did what was mentioned above. Just relax and shoot it just like any other stage and usually my scores are pretty decent. The problem is, is that there are sandbaggers in every division. I know several people that should not be where they are and somehow always shoot classifiers badly. Go figure! I can't sandbag for the life of me. I want to be the best I can be and if that means a "paper A" then so be it. I'll probably get blasted by the rest of A class shooters but oh well, I'll get better with time and hopefully beat them honestly one day.
  20. Can you polish or bevel out the inside of the loading area...basically what I am talking about is that when I try to load fast and the shell is pointing up, not straight up, it hits that raised portion on the top of that area and gets stuck. Then I have to take it out and load it at a more of a 45* angle and it will go in. I would like to bevel that area inside but don't know how much you can take off without it messing anything up. Is that an option or has anyone done that type of mod and if so can you post a pic? Thanks
  21. when you say "registration", do you mean check in for the match? Are there spots still available? I sent my app in 2 weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet but I know the mail is slow.
  22. Okay I pulled my rifle out a minute ago and tried to feel the take up that you are talking about and there really isn't any take up. If there is, it is very minute, maybe not even an 1/8 of the overall trigger travel. It really feels like a single stage trigger to me...I know this is not a great comparison but it almost feels like my Ed Brown 1911 trigger but a little softer. The trigger travels to the rear and there is just a small amount of force/sear wall feel before it breaks...it is light and feels lighter than 3.5 lbs that it is suppose to be. I read both the SD-3 gun trigger info and the Super 3-gun trigger info and it doesn't seem like there is a difference except for the design of the trigger itself (straight/curved). I'm confused....
  23. OK I see...thanks for the clarification. I really couldn't tell the difference between the two, even the Super 3-gun trigger had slight take up so maybe that's why. I like the one I have so I won't be changing it but Geissele's website is terrible and I couldn't tell between the two except for the flat vs. curved triggers.
  24. So what is the big difference between the two? Is the SD-3gun, mine, as robust as the Super 3-gun??? Is my trigger, SD-3gun, considered single or 2 stage trigger? Is one better than the other etc...? I honestly can't tell the differences between the two even today when we shot them side by side, except for the flat trigger vs. curved. Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm new to this trigger mod thing. Thanks!
  25. A buddy of mine and I recently purchase the Geissele Super 3-Gun triggers and installed them. Awesome triggers by the way but I'm sure everybody already knew that. The question I have is...his is a curved trigger and mine is a flat/straight one. He purchased his through bravo company and I got mine, on sale, from midway usa. What would be the difference between the two or is one even different from the other? Is one newer design than the other or etc...just thought that it was odd that mine is straight and his is curved. Thanks
