I am wanting to replace my stock spring in my M&P Pro 9mm and 40 with a lighter one. Can you replace the factory spring with a new lighter spring on the same guide rod or will I need to get a new guide rod as well? On the end of the factory guide rod there is the hex head and I can't get the old spring off over it. Does it come unscrewed somehow or what??? Thanks

BCM 16" BCM 16" BFH BCM 18" Stainless Here is what I was kind of looking at but haven't made any decisions yet. I want to keep it at either 16" or 18" in barrel length and would like to keep it around the $700-$800 range. I already have an optic and would add a comp etc...so that's not an issue. What other options are there in this price range? It's either an upper or a dillon reloader but not both...

This was my first 3-gun match and it was a great match! Thanks to all that worked and RO'd etc...I finished a little better than I thought I would but I've got a lot of work to do. But I'll be back and hopefully better prepared. Shooting the shotgun was great fun, just have to learn to reload faster.

Is the slide-width different than the 9-Pro??? I hope not but the length better be, my current holster has a semi closed bottom. I bought an M&P Pro .40 5" last week and tried it in my Comp-Tac holster for my 9 pro and it wouldn't fit. I opened up the tension screws on the holster some and tried again but still a no go. I haven't tried it again to loosen the screws all the way yet but I would guess they would fall out from being so loose. I'll try again tonight and see what I come up with. The part that looks like it is hitting is the upper/top portion of the slide. It seems to be just a tad wider than the 9 pro slide, fyi.

Bruce, Thanks for the encouraging words in your post because this will be exactly that, my FIRST 3-Gun match! I've been thinking about shooting 3-gun for a little while now and got talked into shooting this match with a couple of friends. This will also be the 1st match for one of them as well. I'm sure I'll muck it up somehow but my goal is to not get sent to DQville for something stupid. It's encouraging to hear that I might get a free entry into next years match... We'll see how this all goes down...

Just an FYI that the top shooters at this years USSA National Pro-Am in Tulsa, OK were shooting the polymer guns. Dave, Bob and Mike (1st,2nd and 5th respectively) 3 out of the top 5 were running glocks and an m&p. If and when I can get an M&P Pro 5" .40s&w I'll set it up for limited competitions. Now if I can just find one....

Fantastic job Phil and a huge thank you to the RO's!!!!! I think I shot on the worst day possible, it was wet and really muddy from the monsoon that came through Friday night but that's no excuse on how poorly I performed! Great job again and look forward to the match again next year.

Glad I finally go a little discussion going on in my thread. I was beginning to think I wasn't asking the right type of question or it was stupid question etc....I saw Vogel beat the open guys last year with his limited glock, quite impressive performance by him. I finally got out to the range with my friend who has the XDM set up to shoot limited and it was not a bad gun at all. The follow up shots, to me, weren't any more noticeable than shooting my own M&P Pro 9mm with factory ammo. To be honest it felt smoother and more of push than anything else. I don't think that after all the mods have been made that it will make that big of a difference between the two but that's just my opinion. I still think that it's the person behind the gun that matters the most. So my plan is when the M&P Pro .40S&W come out is to pick up one of those and then make some modifications to it and start shooting limited. We'll see where it takes me...

I have a friend that is going to try and use an XDM (or XD I can't remember) for Limited USPSA in 40s&w. It's been worked on and has a mag-well, trigger job and a few other upgrades done to it. I had never thought about shooting or converting a 40s&w M&P into a limited gun until now. I know that you would have to add the extended base pads to the mags, trigger job, mag-well and some other mods etc...but what I really would like to know is how much or if any disadvantage is that going to be instead of using an STI 2011 or something similar? Honestly wouldn't it really just come down to trigger control, sight picture and moving etc...and really not about the guns performance so to say? Or would you already be at some sort of disadvantage in not using a 2011? Just kicking around the thought because right now I only shoot production with an M&P Pro but would like to start shooting limited sometime soon but I can't afford a $2000 2011 right now.

On the smith and wesson m&p there is the little part right underneath the trigger guard that is some what stippled looking. If you stipple the grip can you stipple that part as well since it is that way from the factory or would that make the gun illegal in production? Thanks

That was rough watching Mike shoot like that, your spotter helped you out zero, but he handled it very well considering the outcome. I was really pulling for our local guy and since I've taken several classes with Mike and train at USSA. Good on you Mike for turning around and winning Area 4 as well! Chad S...

Thanks again to all of the staff that made this match happen. This was my first Major Match and I thought a few things could have been better but overall it was a great match. At my work I'm in charge of events and I know how hard it is to get things organized/set-up/prizes etc, so good job again guys! Overall I shot pretty well, had a few mistakes but finished 2nd B Class in Production and 15th Overall Production, but I didn't get my plaque. How long will it take to receive the ones that are being mailed out? Chad S...
