  1. I primarily use 55s, but always carry 69s with me for long flashers or God forbid. . . Larues.
  2. Yep, it's pretty sweet. Similar to an MTAC reticle, but smaller and a better BDC. It was kind of hard to judge the magnification and such in a convention center, but I'd like to get one on the range and test out the reticle.
  3. That actually sounds normal. The power adjustment rings are pretty stiff. I know some folks have sent theirs back to Vortex to have them loosened up a little. I re-positioned my throw lever so that 1x Is all the way down on the left, just enough to get a finger under. It seems to give me little more leverage.
  4. Not to hijack the thread, but since we're talking about it, in looking at the Tactical 5.0, I see some pics with the full dust cover and some with the butler cut. Does STI make them both ways or is one current and the other an older model/design.
  5. I'll go up Friday and spend Friday and Sat night and shoot both matches. You're welcome to come along.
  6. Hahahahahaha! Good call on the pic. I ain't got a leg to stand on.
  7. I've got the +2 cap from The Shooters Source on my 1301. Works great. 24" 12+1. I got all kind of options
  8. I know it doesn't matter for the local guys, but the twofer weekend really makes it worth it for those of us coming from out of town.
  9. I should be there. These are awesome weekends! Lots of shooting and low stress, plus it's Rockcastle!
  10. I've shot that match. Nice guy, but he's pretty much a loud mouth hillbilly. If it's you're first time up there make sure you speak slowly so he can understand you.
  11. Actually, the show/series sponsors and advertisers are the ones footing the bill. 3GN likely pays the network for the air time. It's semantics, but it's the way most of the shows on those networks operate.
  12. Interesting. I'll be sure to check one out at SHOT
  13. Why would they go 1-5? It would seem that 6X is now the standard, so if they're not going 6X or beyond, what's the point? It just seems odd to me to release a new product that doesn't meet the minimum standards to lead the industry. Any idea on price point?
  14. The Kahles is sweet. It's pricey too. My buddy has been shooting one the last two years, so I've gotten to shoot it a little. I've never done much more than look through a Swaro, but in my limited experience with it, if all things were equal ($$$) the Kahles is a bit nicer. All that being said, I wouldn't trade my Razor and $500 for one. I still think the Razor is hard to beat at it's price (and in my income bracket).
  15. Andy you have my word, John WILL do it. We may have to give him a blue gun, and duct tape the bottle of bourbon to his arm, but he'll do it.
  16. Unfortunately no. I don't remember the exact difference, but the rear of the receiver with the recoil spring and how the buttstock fits is different, the trigger group housing is also slightly different. At the time of my disaster I had an M1 as my backup gun, and went to just swapping stocks. The buttstocks would not interchange and the M1 trigger group housing has a rounded rear whereas the M2 is flat.
  17. That would be me. I can empathize, it's a sickening feeling. I ended up selling the whole thing for $500, it was basically a box of parts. Sold it to a buddy who is a welder who thought he might be able to fix it, but hasn't yet. There is occasionally a guy on gunbroker who sells stripped M2 receivers for about $250. I've seen them, but not when I needed one. Depending on how bad you screwed it up, having someone fabricate an oversized aluminum or delrin follower may be a temporary fix. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a good long term solution other than replacement. With mine, it would hold shells in and shoot, til you got to the last one . . . then, well you know. Sorry man, that sucks.
  18. I'm pretty sure Aaron said they were going to keep it at Legion, and the first weekend of December.
  19. I think the long shot last year was 420ish. Most stuff 200 and in, a sprinkling of 250-350. If I remember right.
  20. App sent in a couple weeks ago. I've never been to this one before, but to a person, everyone I've ever asked about it has always talked about how much fun it is.
  21. Hopefully Bryan will chime in because he surely has a better grasp on this than me. I suck with a rifle, for lots of reasons, but I do think I figured out some stuff that works for me. I try to be conscious of my breathing whenever I'm not pulling the trigger. Deep breaths. Another thing I've found is that if I back off the gas just a bit when I'm moving, it saves me a lot of wind. So instead of running flat out 100%, I'll go 95%. I think anything I lose in speed is made up for in getting my breath back and quickly being able to break a shot on a rifle target. All of this really only applies when the rifle is not my first gun. I love stages that start with the rifle, get it out of the way and breathing isn't usually an issue.
  22. This has always been something that kills me too. I was in much better shape this year, but kind of learned the hard way what Bryan said. It seems to be more technique than actual physical conditioning. Not that being in good shape won't help, but being aware and in control of your breathing prior to picking up the rifle is probably more important.
  23. I've had my lifter done by C-Rums, no issues. In all honesty, a little rust on the lifter is no concern. Hell if you're shopping at a gun show, I'd welcome it. Good bargaining point.
