  1. Check out Www.speedshooterspecialties.com I bought one from Kenny a few years ago.
  2. I broke my trigger return spring on my M&P today so I decided to do a full cleaning and parts replacement. I replaced slide release, trigger spring, recoil spring and striker assembly (I was still using the old black style striker). After reassembly, my reset is laggy. I could hear it reset but the striker doesn't always fall when I pulled the trigger. I replaced the new striker assembly with the old one and everything now works 100%. Any ideas why the new striker assembly would be binding? The replacement was the full assembly and not just the bare striker. ETA: Turns out my striker was tuned with a trigger job I had. I will need a new trigger bar and sear to use a new striker.
  3. +1 for want2race 00bullitt did a trigger job on my M&P using stock parts. I acutally prefer the reset on my tweaked trigger bar vs. apex RAM after comparing them side by side.
  4. Winding up near a compressed load at 4.6 ?? I thought it would have happened a lot sooner than 4.6. It may be slightly compressed with 4.6g and 1.13" OAL. 5.0-5.2g would probably be at the top of the case. 4.8g was almost spilling out on my press as I rotated the shell plate.
  5. I have about 6k of 116 PF through my 4.25" fullsize with the stock recoil spring. It functions 100% and all the brass falls in a small pile just to my side. I agree with Kevin and tweak your load +/- 0.1gr to adjust the brass pile location.
  6. My old lot was around 130 PF with 4.2g for a MG 124 CMJ. New lot using 4.6g is around 116 PF. I tried going up to 4.8g but the volume was too much IMO for a 9mm case. I still use the 4.6g load but I don't compete so it works for me as a training load. I'm not sure the slow jugs will make minor consistently unless you are using 135g or heavier bullet (due to case volume limitations).
  7. Just received my invoice from PVI tonight for my 12# on backorder. Looks like it's on the way. I placed my order back in early Feb.
  8. I've got 12# on backorder from PVI. Good to know it will be coming soon.
  9. My M&P9 runs perfectly with 116 PF loads and the stock recoil spring. I would buy another stock recoil spring and try that out before you start experimenting. I have run a SSS stainless uncaptured rod with a 13# spring. It works fine but the slide is a little to easy to come out of battery IMO.
  10. Has anyone tried this test? http://www.leadtestconfirm.com/ It looks much cheaper than a blood test by my Dr. They do not show a sample of the results so I am curious to see how they list the lead levels. ETA: I just found one site that listed the results and it doesn't look like it will be useful to us.
  11. Try Tony at Velocity Shooter. http://www.velocityshooter.com/ I just ordered a few and I believe he has some in stock.
  12. I've heard good things about these guys http://historicfirearms.com/ Only need Serial #s if single item is over $10k. I haven't used them so I can't give firsthand knowledge.
  13. Yes. 4.8 gr is pretty much spilling out of a 9mm case.
  14. I use the nitrile ones for case prep, reloading, and case gage. Buy a few different kinds to see what you prefer. I don't like the thicker gloves since they limit my dexterity. The purple ones linked above are about 6 mil on the fingertips. The ones I use from amazon are about 4 mil at the fingertips. They won't last all day but are better for fine motor skills. The thicker gloves work well for things like working on your car.
  15. Since I currently shoot 98% 9mm, if you take the caliber change convenience/cost out of the equation and assume that I am looking to load 1k/mo of a single caliber and can afford both the 650 and 550 does your recommendation change? I'm in a similar situation to you since I only load about 1k of 9mm a month. I have one small child and one on the way so my free time is limited. I went with the 550 a year ago. If I were to do it again, I would get the 650 with a case feeder. For me, time is more important than cost at this point in my life.
  16. No need to select residential delivery any more since MG ships USPS. IMO, MG needs to revise their website as the extra $5 is misleading and they are including it in the charge if selected (at least on my first order last yr that shipped USPS).
  17. You can minimize powder spillage if you place the bullet on the case after dropping powder in station 2 and before moving to seating in station 3.
  18. What PF are you getting with these loads? How are you verifying your powder drops in the 550? I have found that S1000 is very consistent if my load is around 120PF or above. I also have no problems with consistent drops on a stock 550. My biggest issue with S1000 is the lot to lot variations and the volume required to push a 124gr bullet to 130PF with my latest lot. Post up your data and let's have a look.
  19. I just randomly sampled 10 bullets from my case of 3k MG 124 CMJ. The length ranged from 0.388" to 0.391".
  20. My OAL varies +/-0.003" with MG 124 CMJ. I sort my brass so that helps too. I have not measured bullet length consistency but I will try to this weekend and let you know. I agree with Sarge that something else is going wrong. What seating die are you using? It may not have the correct shape for the MG CMJ profile. Try taking the cup or insert out and see how it rides on the bullet.
  21. My jug is slower than yours. I emailed accurate and they told me I would probably need to go to 5.2gr to get 125PF with my jug. I've loaded several thousand at 4.6 for practice (I don't compete) and they cycle fine in my M&P and G19 so I am going to run through this jug. I don't feel comfortable going above 4.6gr due to volume in the case. Here is my post with some data: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=107388&st=0&p=1221429&hl=solo&fromsearch=1entry1221429
  22. I wouldn't do this for all powders. Some powders have a big lot to lot variation. For example, I need an additional 0.8gr of Solo 1000 from a different lot to make the same PF. This is definitely an extreme case but it exists. I haven't noticed any variation with TG but YMMV.
  23. TAP

    Solo 1000

I am having similar problems with MG 124 CMJ. My jug is slow and 4.7gr at 1.130" is only making 116 PF. I emailed Accurate and they told me I probably need 5.1gr based on my chrono results. 5.1gr of Solo in a 9mm case is too much volume. I will probably switch to 147gr or save this jug for .45acp. I really like Solo but the lot to lot variation stinks.
  24. It's always good to check your chrony with a control round too.
  25. You won't find any reasonable published data that I know of for 9mm. There is some old Royal Scot data out there (search here) but it is usually very conservative. Solo varies so much lot to lot it will be hard to nail down a max. Do a search and start out low working your way up. That is the best you can do. Maybe some people will chime in that shoot a 147gr lead bullet with Solo.
