  1. The CZ's I've had have had short freebore, so that "straight" bullets like the XTP needed to be seated much deeper than when shot in something like a Glock or BHP. Other bullets like Gold Dots or West Coast PRN could be seated out to 1.150" no problems.
  2. You're just jealous 'cause you don't have a dryfire laser.
  3. I just the flexible Glock cleaning rod with a large patch rolled through/around it, and snake it in from the port or from underneath. I do the same for my bolt gun.
  4. 200gr plated RN 5.1gr Titegroup 1.260" nominal OAL 8000+ and counting in my 1911...
  5. I had this same problem with one of my CZ's. Not wanting to mess with it, I sent it back to CZ-USA. He claims to have replaced the slidelock lever spring, and it works OK now.
  6. On a silhouette, hits were barely perceptible with XM193 at 500 yards. Switching to 75gr made it easier to observe. Switching again to 110gr 6.8SPC was much easier. FWIW, I shoot 75gr on far stuff because it shoots great in my gun and hits the steel a little harder (which makes spotting hits faster), and then switch over to XM193 for 100 and in. -z
  7. VV-3N37 can drive a 90gr Gold Dot to over 1600fps in 9x19 in a standard pistol like a CZ or Glock.
  8. If I remember correctly, Winchester white box 124gr "NATO" shoots just over 1100fps in my pistols, while Speer Gold Dot +P 124gr shoots about 1310. Pressure != velocity, I know... SAAMI spec is 35,000psi. -z
  9. The most common answer for long range is the 175SMK since it can be fired at a decent velocity (2700fps from 24"'s). There are other lighter bullets with nearly as good or better BC's that may work better at long range: _Bullet_ _BC_ _MV_ 0 200 400 600 800 1000 | YARDS 190 SMK 0.53* 2560 > -0.00 0.00 6.22 14.17 24.10 36.54 | drop (moa) 175 SMK 0.51* 2675 > -0.00 0.00 5.75 13.22 22.67 34.70 | drop (moa) 155 Scenar 0.508 2850 > -0.00 0.00 4.94 11.32 19.30 29.33 | drop (moa) 190 SMK 0.53* 2560 > 0.00 2.81 12.05 29.21 56.01 94.16 | wind (inches) 175 SMK 0.51* 2675 > 0.00 2.85 12.23 29.69 57.25 96.76 | wind (inches) 155 Scenar 0.508 2850 > 0.00 2.53 10.83 26.17 50.19 84.66 | wind (inches) 190 SMK 0.53* 2560 > 2560 2244 1949 1678 1437 1237 | velocity (fps) 175 SMK 0.51* 2675 > 2675 2328 2007 1713 1452 1238 | velocity (fps) 155 Scenar 0.508 2850 > 2850 2498 2171 1871 1600 1366 | velocity (fps) I just guessed at the 190gr velocity, but the 175 and 155 loads are still moderate. -z
  10. For whatever accuracy you want (under 1.5MOA), it's going to be cheaper to build an AR10 that does it vs. an M1A. And mounting optics on the AR10 is a lot cleaner. I think you'd want a 24" barrel. Loads from my 20" AR10 seem to lose their legs after about 600 yards. Not sure how 22" works. I find spotting hits much easier from a bolt rifle without a brake vs. my AR10 even with a brake. -z
  11. My Dan Wession Patriot has an external extractor. I broke the first one due to crud building up under it. I stoned the second one's top and bottom surfaces before installing it to ensure there was minimal friction and enough clearance, and it's run 100% since then (8000+ rounds).
  12. Major is looking unlikely in anything shorter than a 20". Paul E might have some better data. 1MOA or better is easy to accomplish, though. Lots of load data is available, on my web page, Hodgdon & IMR, March/April Rifle Shooter magazine, etc. -z
  13. If you want to shoot CMP, you need something CMP legal. You're also on a budget. And you want to shoot some 3Gun. Note that flat-top receivers are now legal for High Power, but not necessarily optimal for the longest distance (not enough elevation travel in the clamp-on carry handle A2 sights). For CMP legality, it must resemble an A2 or A4 comfiguration rifle. Suggestion: Buy a standard A4 configuration from Rock River, with a stainess 1:8" twist barrel (+$65), A2 handguards. The RRA NM trigger is already included. http://www.rockriverarms.com/item-detail.c...36;A1$283g Use a clamp-on A2-style rear sight (now legal) and use the flash hider or a bare muzzle for CMP. For 3Gun, you could shoot it as is, or get a muzzle compensator and put on an optic. Staying with iron sights would leave you in Limited class, and putting an optic on would put you in Modified/Tactical class. It's certainly not optimized for either sport, but it'll be a great all around rifle. -z
  14. I've got a friend who is about to relocate to the TN/NC area and is looking for some tactical rifle - AR15 or bolt rifle / MOR - matchesto shoot. Can someone from that side of the country hook me up with some info? thanks Zak
  15. It's an issue with the spring compression vs. the spring retaining shoulder on the pin vs. the ITS. If I just drop the FP in there with no spring, it protrudes real far past the breechface. With the spring in place, it can't compress enough to clear the FP stop.
  16. FWIW, I have the same problem with mv SV, but the failure rate is lower now. I did replace the mainspring with a regular 1911 "stock" power one. I did get a extended firing pin from ShootersConnection or SpeedShooters or somewhere a while back, but i would not fit due the SV interchangable breech face.
  17. I've got a GAP rifle on a McBros action. Skip the magazine, save the money and just get a single shot. It's not practical because latching a mag into place takes a whole bunch of fiddling to get seated correctly. Look at the TAC50 stock. The sporter style leaves a lot to be desired as far as cheek weld goes. I sugget a more effective brake than the McMillan style narrow one. Other than that, it's great. -z
  18. I'm looking for a partner for this 2-man-team sniper match Apr 15-17 near SLC Utah, http://snipersparadise.com/snipercomps/Sni...st/2005west.htm http://snipersparadise.com/sniperchat/inde...?showtopic=8017 It's coming up soon! thanks Zak
  19. Yes. I assume these were ones TP had in stock but couldn't sell until the AI situation was resolved.
  20. Try on SnipersHide, SnipersParadise, and here, for match announcements.
  21. Then I don't know what those mags that showed up were...
  22. I think you mixed up M1 vs M3 in your post. A good compromise might be 0.1 mil clicks.
  23. I've also spoken to Alice @ TacPro. They're back in the business of shipping AI stuff as of this past Monday.
  24. I just saw this announced: Cavalry Arms Competition Shooters Program http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&...t=146635&page=1
