  1. LOL, I was under the impression that you HAD to use either 7 or 8 round mags throughtout the match, but I never thought to make sure it was in the rule book. I guess being the true gamer I am, I must buy at least one 7 rounder to take advantage of this lack of clear direction. Woohoo Bill
  2. David, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, are you implying that the BoD is trying my have all CDP shooters use 7 or 8 round mags universally? I haven't shot much IDPA this year, am I outta the loop? Bill
  3. I had a brand new subscription to Gun Games magazine when they went under, and now have a nearly new subscription to Shoot magazine (www.shootmagazine.com) that I am not interested in. My understanding is that I can transfer this subscription to someone else, SOOOO if you're interested please drop me a line. Bill
  4. Shot it in 83+ on the first try. Have shot it as low as 75+, but that was in practice. Dude, those are smokin' times.
  5. To quickly answer your three questions: No, No and Don't Know. Gonna be late for work, darnit Brian, it's your fault....
  6. I've been dry firing in slow motion the past week with a focus on what I feel and when I feel it, and I've noticed that my weak hand kinda fumbles when it reaches a mag on my belt (when performing a reload). My weak hand has to search for the mag. I've NEVER noticed this when performing a reload at speed. So what is it that you feel first with your weak hand that is your signal that you've reached the mag? Do you feel the base pad hit your palm, or do you feel your index finger touch the mag or pouch? And do these feelings change going from an IPSC rig to an IDPA rig? Thanks, Bill P.S. I've learned more in the past week dry firing slow and focusing on what I feel than I have in the past 2 monthes doing all my dry firing at speed.
  7. I'm shooting a 1911 in IDPA. My technique for releasing the slide after doing a slide lock reload sucks. As my weak hand is coming into the shooting grip I want to hit the slide stop to release the slide forward, but my weak hand is cammed so far forward that I can't do it...the root of my thumb is by the slide release once I'm in my shooting grip. And I've tried hitting the slide stop earlier on AS I'm assuming my grip, but that doesn't seem to cut it either. So what I do, which I know is very slow, is nail the slide stop with my weak hand thumb and then assume my shooting grip. This is two discrete actions and what I want is one beautiful harmonious action, but I am unable to do it. I have fairly small hands, but in this case I don't think that matters much. I noticed in Rob's Shooter Ready video he says to hit the slide stop as you assume the grip and he even demonstrates it. Any advice? Bill
  8. I was there for the Single Stack Classic a few months ago and there was no construction.
  9. Thanks for the explanation ShooterGrrl, seems as though it'll get thrown out no matter what. That sucks...
  10. Chriss, At last years Area 8 Championship my Limited-10 % of the overall Lim-10 shooter counted as a classifier even though there was only 1 GM and no Masters in Lim-10 Bill
  11. So how will this count, percentage wise, as a classifier? Bill
  12. If 2 shooters finish a stage in the same exact raw time, the one with the least points down will come ahead on top.The scoring system rewards both speed and accuracy. At any IDPA match ,any of the top shooters can win- it will boil down to who has the least points down overall. Look at last years Nationals. Compare points down for Sevigny and Rob. I agree with what you're saying to a point...
  13. BigDave, FYI: that club takes forever to send the scores in, probably won't post until August or September...
  14. Okay, I found the match results at the USPSA website....I had been looking at area and section webpages. Looks like I got 1st Lim-10 by the skin of my teeth! But I'm still feelin' good. Bill
  15. Dave, And it was super getting to meet you too! So cool to talk in person about the things we've posted. I wish the best of luck to your wife (she just graduated from law school and is getting ready for the bar exam). PLEASE make sure you drop me a line the next time you're in the area, I really enjoyed your company and look forward to shooting with you again. Bill
  16. Dave, Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate your kind words. It's shooting with great guys like yourself that make this sport so wonderful. But now, where are the results to the Blast posted??? I still haven't confirmed my accomplishment. Bill P.S. Just to add to the braggin', I shot the Blast on Friday in poor weather, a few stages in the rain, and with ammo that chrono'd 180PF!!!!
  17. Big Dave, Where are you seeing the match results from the Blast??? You're the second person to congratulate me!!!! Bill (Edited by Bill Schwab at 5:15 am on June 17, 2002)
  18. Shot this one today. Limited 10 with a SS 45. 59 points, 8.37 seconds. Hit factor of 7.04. Looks like this'll be an A score, correct? I detest waiting for these things to post to USPSA.... Bill
  19. I love seeing these old guys, like 60+, who are out there in the hot sun all day, going kneeing and prone, even though they look arthritic, and smiling through everything without ever complaining. I'm 29 and hope to God I'm the same way when I'm an old timer. Bill (Edited by Bill Schwab at 12:57 pm on June 16, 2002)
  20. Wow big brother, 8 posts!!! You're the man.
  21. THS (aka Tom), It was great being squadded with you at the Summer Blast; it was a pleasure watching you make that Limited gun purrr. I hope we meet again at future matches. FYI: about 5 minutes after you left the lightening subsided and we finished stage 10 and then the chrono. I was driving out of there at 6PM. I chrono'd 180PF!!!! Bill
  22. Jon, I recently went to my doctor for a lead test, boy did he think I was nuts. Anyway, my memory is hazy, but I think he said normal was 0 to 20, and my blood levels were at 13. Bill
  23. Rob told me he's shooting Production at the World Championship, but I didn't get a chance to ask him what gun he'll be shooting. Will it be an XD? Bill
  24. Flex, As far as I know there's just the online match application: http://uspsa-area8.org/docs/2002SummerBlastApp.pdf
