  1. It is mainly the lube and somewhat the powder. For powders, try one that is single based (Solo 1000 or V.V. are some)and if you can find a bullet manufacture that uses White Label Lube Carnuba Red lube you will be on your way to reducing your smoke levels.
  2. I tried it in my 40. It was big time snappy and the accuracy from my gun was not up to par from what I got with other combinations.
  3. When I had mine, my smith was able to get my trigger to 2.25lbs using the stock internals and a SVI trigger. Main spring was dropped to a 17lb one. Recoil spring was 8 or 10lb depending on what type of load I was using. Ran 100% with RN style bullets only. Mags did not affect performance. If you PM me your email I can send you an Excel worksheet with all my Ransom rested load data for it. I had some loads come in around .8" for 5 shots at 20 or 25yds.

    CZ75b .40 cal.

A 40 cal with 147g Lead TC bullets and 3.6g TG is hard to beat for a minor PF load. Plenty soft and not sluggish with a reduced power spring.
  5. I do not see a problem with it. Let them pay the entrance fee and run them for no score.
  6. If you have the time, as I do, then casting is cheap. My cost is under $2 / 50. The best lube / powder combo I have found, for low smoke, is a single base powder (Vitovouri, Solo 1000) with Carnuba Red (White Label lube). That being said, I use Titegroup, 231, WSF, Silouhette powders and I do not find the smoke bothers me.
  7. I used 4g TG with a 155g LRN for a PF 135 out of my Para 16/40. All the powders you listed should do you well with a 4g starting charge.
  8. From what I am seeing, being a PRO in any discipline is not a major advantage on this show. As much as we would all like to see one of our own win this, I think it is unlikely. Paintball guns, Tommy Guns, Tomahawks and who knows what else. The scenerios are made up to make sure that no one has an edge over any one else when it comes down to skill level. Look at last season, that Cowboy got pretty far for not really having much of a skill set and Kelly kicked ass being really just a rifle shooter. The older guy with the limp (running) is going to have a rough time. Running next week and I saw them climbing a hill again in one commercial.
  9. It did not look like full power 44 mag loads to me, but I may be wrong.
  10. CZ 85 Combat with comp hammer and Matt Mink trigger job, MG 124 HP with 4.1g TG at 1.10 OAL is one of the loads I use.
  11. Lets not forget about the CZ 85B Combat. That is what I have and it is just as accurate and realible as the Shadow. It also does not have a FP block.
  12. I tried some and had good accuracy out of my 9mm,40 and 45. Since they were mostly test loads I did not write anything down. I am a TG/WSF kind of guy.
  13. Guys, lets please all remember that it is made for TV and not for BE.com. Just like we all had issue with the way Top Shot was filmed, this is made fopr the masses. I for one enjoyed it. Hell, just about any show about guns is good with me. Being that they are local, and I can chat with all three of those guys on our local shooting forums just makes it that much better.I can just see a large line of people waiting in line to get their HiPoints suppressed
  14. It works for me and I have Ransom Rest Data for a Spartan and CZ 85 Combat to prove it. 3/4 inch groups with lead bullets at 20-25yds.
  15. For what it is worth, when I had my Spartan 9mm, I loaded everything to 1.10 OAL. With this length, all my RN profiled bullets, LRN or FMJ, ran 100% with all the mags I tried. Matter of fact, I load all my 9mm ammo to OAL 1.10 and do not have a problem with it working in my Springfield Loaded 1911 9mm, Dan Wesson PM9 or CZ 85 Combat.
  16. The MG 147g bullets ran without any problems for me. I did not try any 147g LRN though.
  17. When I had my 9mm Spartan I did extensive load developement with LRN, LFP, FMJ and JHP bullets using Metalform "Springfield" 9 round mags, Wilson 10 round ETMs and regular 9 round Wilson mags. My results showed that I could not get that gun to run 100% with anything other than a RN profiled bullet because everything else would nosedive and get stuck on the frame or the bottom edge of the barrel. I tried OAL of many different lengths as well. I ended up selling that gun to help pay off some bills and now have a Dan Wesson PM9 to pair up with my Springfield Loaded 9mm. Both of these guns will run anything that you put in it.
  18. I worked up multiple loads with 125 and 147g bullets with Competition and did not find any great loads (accuracy wise) and had to load over the max load given to me by Western Powders just to make 125 PF out of my 9mm Spartan and Springfield 1911. I am using it for plinking loads in my 40 now.
  19. I have seen the episode of Swamp Men you are talking about and that lady had a set to get in that cage with that cougar.
  20. That is a different show you are talking about. That one is called "Swamp Men" and is based in Florida.
  21. These are my own hand casted bullets from LEE molds.
  22. There is no downfall for lead to me. It is cheap to shoot, just as accurate with some load development, will not wear your barrel out, there is no leading if it is the right size for your barrel. Yes, there is some residual build up in the gun from the lube used that needs to be clean, but doesn't everyone have to clean their guns. Last year I shot 1500 rounds of LRN cast bullets with tradition lube through one of my guns before I cleaned it and the cleaning involved just 3 passes with a bore snake. Oh, and my cost break down is approx $1.38 per 50 rounds of my hand casted 125 LRN bullets using Titegroup powder.
  23. Armscor makes a double stack Para clone. I know a couple of people that have them and they work fine. Another option would be to get a second hand Para. Those can be had for a really good price if you look around and are willing to wait.
  24. Can someone explain this to me? Where do they get the term SAMCRO from, and why is it used in the same context as the "Sons of Anarchy"? I have watched every season and I have not found the explaination.
  25. The Wilson's dont hit your ejector or disco rail ? My slide binds, and the mag jams into the ejector on my Pm-9.. No they do not.
