  1. You have basically the same setup I have. The only thing different is I have a Dawson ICE magwell on mine. If the gun runs I do not see the reason the sell it to upgrade to an STI. The gun will not hold you back.
  2. I ended up buying this gun. It is a Springfield 1911-1A Loaded target model in Black Stainless.
  3. I have a chance to purchase a 45 ACP SS 1911 pistol that has a non ramped barrel to make it into a competition gun. I would like to know how well these feed 200gr SWC lead bullets from anyone who has 1st hand experience. I know I can shoot 230g LRN all day in these things but I like the 200g loads better. Scotterj - what has been your experience with your Spartan 45 ACP? Anyone else with 1st hand experience
  4. I would go for the Springer because of the ramped barrel and because I own one. It is in my avatar. I have over 50K rounds through mine with stock parts, except a SVI trigger and Dawson sight, I it just keeps running and running and it does 3/4" inch groups at 25yds.
  5. Since I started this thread I have sold this gun and never did get around to testing the Win 231. The feeding issues with anything but RN bullets was messing with my head to much. In my 9mms I load pretty much everything to 1.10 because I do not feel like loading and keeping track of different OALs for different guns. I bought a DW PM9 to replace the Spartan and I am happy with that decision. With the WSF, I stopped at 4.6 because I new it would be in the mid 130s for PF which is the most I would be shooting.
  6. The switch might have been just been a coincident. The motor did function again once plugged back in but after about 3-4 minute of loading it would barely turn to shell plate and stop.
  7. Well, after having the time to take down the case feeder I found a loose connection was causing the problem. I should have did this before I placed the order.
  8. Just got off the phone with Dillon. Since the case feeder is more than 1 yr old the motor is not under warranty. The replacement motor is only $65 so I will have it this week.
  9. The motor on my Dillon 650 casefeeder just burnt up. That bites. Good thing I loaded 800 rounds last week.
  10. That is why I am so glad I cast my own bullets from free lead alloy I got. I have 1000 lbs stock piled.
  11. If you do enough testing with a Ransom Rest you will see this happen with groups. Different barrels (even though in the same model gun) will perform differently.
  12. Yes, the primers were starting to flatten. Way to snappy for me with the 124g bullets.
  13. I have tried Competition with 115 and 124g fMJ and LRN bullets and just did not like the accuracy from my 1911s or CZ. I do love Silhoutte though. Never tried Zip.
  14. I think PJD's Venom shop bike could do it.
  15. Watche the 1st 2 episodes. I can actually say that I like it so far. The only thing that I have to question is that the main guy they are following around, that is a moonshiner, is also the town's volunteer fire chief and they have him showing his son how to moonshine. So how do they show this guy making a run and no one gets in trouble with the law at that time or when it is aired on TV.
  16. After shooting many, many rounds through my 9mms with a Ransom Rest I can tell you that WSF, Silhoutte, TG and Power Pistol came out on top in my CZ 85 and 2 1911 9mm pistols at 25yds.
  17. Ramshot Silhoette is also a very good powder.
  18. Yes, I am using the LEE 122g TC and the LEE LRN 6 cavity molds, alloy is wheel weights or big Xray cores, sized to .356 and lubed with White Label Carnuba Red. In my guns, the TC bullets perform better than the LRN.
  19. On mine: 2.5lb trigger job with stock parts SVI short flat trigger Dawson magwell On order - VZ G10 Alien grips Extended mag release button. Dawson .90 FO front sight With this it will exactly match my Dan Wesson PM9. In my avatar you will see an SVI magwell, I now prefer the Dawson due to ease of removing just the magwell.
  20. For me it is as follows in 9mm 6.34 per 50 in FMJ 2.34 per 50 in lead
  21. I agree, that season finale was freaking great. It will be hard to top next season.
