  1. Have you recovered fired bullets to prove this? I have shot many hundreds of these bullets with full TG loads and recovered bullets only to have a black ash of powder on the back of the bullet with all the coating still intact.
  2. Titegroup is not very smoky with Bayou's coating
  3. I had a change in plans yesterday. I acquired a 150-200 lb block of gun metal lead from a friend so I started a marathon smelting and ingot making session. Ended up with 450 approx 1lb ingots to use to cast more bullets with.
  4. About 4 thousand today. I have 2k already done. I take alot of breaks though. I have an inline process set up. I cast 10lbs worth of lead and reload the pot. While waiting for it to melt I size and lube the bullets. Then I go a load them on my 650. Then start all over again. It works for me.
  5. Any pistol powder I can get my hands on for cheap. 45 ACP is not that picky when it comes to powder.
  6. I am doing a marathon casting/ sizing/loading session the weekend that will hopefully give me enough to last at least 6 months of shooting.
  7. Marring of the bullet is no big deal as I melt and recast everything that I pull.
  8. Does it work on cast bullets? That is all I cast and use
  9. this was a Frankford Arsenal one
  10. These are all lead bullets though
  11. But this is not recommended for lead bullets
  12. I have been on a marathon bullet pulling stretch and my plastic kinetic hammer bullet puller exploded on me with another 600 rounds to go. I guess I will go and start recasting all this lead into bullets I want to shoot.
  13. A Dan Wesson PM9 is also one fine gun as well as the before mentioned Springfield Loaded. I have both but prefer the DW.
  14. Titegroup, WSF and Silhoutte are my favorites.
  15. Just this year Mitchell, from the Swamp People TV show, died. Now, Jimmy Smith, of S&S Aqua Logging, of the Ax Men TV show has died. I guess that is about as real as it gets on those shows.
  16. I am out of the loop. Are you all saying that Gary and Barb are not going to be in charge of the Gator any more? T
  17. If you have not tried American Select in 9mm for production you should. It is very clean burning, pretty cheap and is pretty close to the same speed as N320 / TG. You can also use Zip, Green Dot, WSt, 231, HP 38 and Solo 1000.
  18. I can tell you that the one I owned would not feed anything realibly except RN profile bullets. Believe me, I tried every profile and weight size bullet I could get my hands on from cast to plated to jacketed.
  19. I have seen plenty done that way and they work good.
  20. I own a Dan Wesson PM9 (my favorite) and a Springfield Loaded (this was my 1st gun I bought). I used to own a STI Spartan but sold it after having to many issues with it not feeding any thing but RN bullets realibly. I paid right at $700 each for the Dan Wesson and Springfield. If you look around the deals are there.
  21. I just talk to friends, the older the better. It is amazing how many people have lead because they used to do plumbing, make fishing weights, used them for trot lines or other uses. Also, if you have friends that are mechanics, xray techs or roofers help too.
  22. Here ar my economics of casting my own Lead - over 2000 lbs in my garage all FREE LEE molds - cheap, but work very well Star sizer - a little pricey but paid for by selling a couple of boxes of bullets I made Time to do it - I work 36hrs a week so I have more time off than I know what to do with. Instead of watching the bob tube I can cast enough for 1-2 yrs in a couple of hours and then wait for a rainy day and go lubrisize them. For me it works.
  23. When I was shooting alot of USPSA I was using Titegroup and WSF with good results using lead 124g heads
  24. American Select, AA#5, 231, ZIP are all a little slower than TG and work well.
  25. I am another homebrewer. I do all grain and extract. Focus mainly on Browns, Porters and Stouts. I have been making more wine lately though. Cheap, or FREE, ingredients and free bottles. It works for me.
