  1. Z, The reason is all 38 and 9 open guns have been finnicky for me. I have actually seen just about every one malfunction. A .40 is my best chance of getting a gun that runs perfectly. So I lose 4 rounds out of the big stick.....big deal, that's why I practice reloading.
  2. 12 in a day for me. Keeps the cost down as there is less time required to be away. More of a consistency challenge (can you shoot the same all day even when your tired?).
  3. Basic had a pretty sweet ending. I'd say for most surprising and enticing, the 2nd Pirates of the Carribean. I would have walked outside and bought a ticket for 3 right then and there if it had been out.
  4. BE, I didn't know you were a Dane Cook fan. I can probably recite Retaliation by heart.
  5. I would say the most effective way of shooting the stage would be to spend from now until nationals working on your strong hand and weak hand shooting every day.
  6. To make a point. When I can get enough cash to buy another Open gun....it will probably be a .40.
  7. Agree with the above post. The reason for Production (and also the reason for the 10 round limit at the time) was that it was meant as a division where anyone could come shoot with a factory gun and factory ammo.
  8. I actually think having an invitational for the top 32 shooters in the country would be a sweet deal. Could make the match a type of marathon. The same 10 stages shot 4 days in a row or something like it or the 10 stages shot twice in one day and twice the next.

  10. I like the idea. Rewards proficiency with the different platforms and requires an obscene amount of consistency.
  11. Chriss, That may be all true, but he also obviously let the fact that Paul was legaling carrying cloud his judgement.
  12. The reason you are going is because it is going to be hot in Tulsa. The most efficient training is done under the same conditions the match will be under.
  13. Ditto the last two posts. Not having the gun stable on the ground totally negates the stability of the prone position.
  14. I'm with Kyle here. Get low and stay low.
  15. Ben actually probably has more of an attitude towards getting points than any shooter I know. Even know two stages were in the mid 80 percents, one of the stages had most targets at 20 yards and change....sometimes you just get shots that straddle the A zone by half an inch on either side. But excluding that fact he shot 93% of the points overall with zero penalties. Albiet that is the lower end of the spectrum for percentage of points if you want to win the match, it is still in there.
  16. I'm actually doing some research on my own right now and plan on putting it into my book once it's completed. It's really a interested and deep subject.
  17. To be honest I wouldn't worry so much about recreating what the actual target would look like. Just put a spot on the wall and practice getting into the prone position effectively which is all you can really do in dry fire. Live fire from the prone position has such a different feel that I would just focus on refining the economy of motion of getting into that position.
  18. Don't be afraid of reading Brian's book several times. As a good rule of thumb, try and read it every 6 to 8 months. It will mean something different to you every time.
  19. For me it is actually uncomforatable to turn the gun enough to look at the magwell. Doesn't feel smooth at all. So my trick of the day is that I snap my eyes to the magwell as I drop the mag and I see the spent mag ejecting. This gives me the point of reference I need to slam the fresh one home.
  20. That's probably the coolest video I've ever seen.
  21. Thanks guys. Russ, That is an awesome line. I'm working on a book right now and I think I'm actually going to use that line to describe the feeling "your" perfect reload. With proper credit of course. (Perfect to me is the best you can do at your current skill level). Jay, Let me know where I can purchase some bullet trees. Mark, I know man, I really wanted to make it out this year....I think I've only maybe shot 4 matches including Wisconsin this year. I do plan on making it back out for the sectional early next season though.
  22. It was more shock that I nailed it on the first take than anything.
  23. Made a video of a reload catch at the same time, just uploaded it. Here ya go. Reload Catch
