Whatever you start with, try to find some shooters a little more experienced than you are right now, (this forum is the place to do it), and ask the questions and learn from them, good luck and have fun
If it gets more shooters out, why not, especially juniors. Little tough if a piece of steel activates a drop or swinger, most times a 22 will not drop it. The 22 conversions for standard pistols are gaining popularity for 1911's, Beretta's, Glock's etc. but I think scoring would be an issue. Maybe they just shoot it for fun and practice?
So who will come out Saturady to see what fun Dean has in store for us next? Could we see a replay of IDPA champ stage 2? Some prone perhaps? Maybe some where the $%@&^#$% is that other target? Only Dean knows for sure
I thought of that just as I posted,, very valid point,, it would make scoring diifcult to say the least,,maybe a good way would be keep the scoring the same, but if you get 2 down 3's with minor you also get the ftn, but with major you only get the down 6 for 3 seconds and no fail, 2 45 gut shots would neutralize most undesireable targets in my opinion, at least 460 grs of lead introduced into the lower digestive system at 720 FPS or faster would at least give you a belly ache !!
I was, but it's still a great game to shoot, so, I'll try to be good and keep my mouth shut and shoot by the rules. Here's a first,,, no procedurals, no non-threats, no failure to engage and only 1 hit in the down 3 for the 12 stage NC Champ match this weekend, guess I'll stick with it for awhile longer
John
IDPA doesn't have a Failure to Engage.
My mistake, meant to say fail to neutralize

I shoot in single stack minus 2, or revo division, my advice, front sight and don't miss, steel must be bang/ding,,bang/ding,,bang/ding,,, not bang bang ding,,, bang bang bang bang #$@^%$*&&^% bang ding,,,,, have fun
My humble opinion would be, the weight of the bullet, the diameter of the bullet and it's velocity should dictate minor/major, not the lenght of the brass. The only folks I see that like the brass, are revo shooters using it in 625's to get a little quicker reloads, but the shorter brass would not be legal for ESR as I understand it.
For those of you that might have missed this match, you missed a great one. The match was put on by Dean and Beverly and they did a GREAT job!!! From stage design to the food, to the great people, even hand wash stations at the port-o john areas, every detail was covered and covered well. I for one, want to thank them both, as well all those who worked stages and scores, for allowing me to be a part of a top level event
Way to go Paul !!!! I'm one of the lucky one's that gets to shoot with Paul locally and he is a true asset to our sport and all those fortunate enough to know him
