  1. Watch out for these. Watch the video in this link.
  2. While shooting a local match today I saw a shooter who stopped himself due too a squib get a re-shoot. When I voiced my concern I received the response "It's a local match, It's the R.O.'s call". I grumbled that it's the rules and that the R.O. can't just make up rules but this too was shot down so I shut my mouth as not to be too confrontational. I shot a stage and hit a popper at about 7 'oclock with an edge hit. As I stepped out of the box to move through the stage I hesitated and then decide that I'ld ask for a calibration and finished the stage. When finished I asked for a calibration and the R.O. said that he would just give me the hit because calibration would take too long. I opposed this saying that the rules allowed for me to get a calibration and if the steel fell it's a mike and if it doesn't it's a re-shoot. i was prepared for either outcome but I was going to stick with the rules. I heard "It's a local match and it's the R.O.'s call." I decided that I wasn't going to keep my mouth shut about this one and stated that we had at least 3 new shooters on our squad and this was not setting a good example. I went to the M.D. and he agreed with me and I received a re-shoot due to the lack of calibration and the following shooter shooting the stage. later on the same stage I turned and headed back up range from paisting and setting steel and saw two shooters, one who's been shooting a while and one brand new, who were sharing a gun. The one who has been shooting a while had drawn his gun and was giving it to the brand new shooter WITH THREE PEOPLE INCLUDING ME DOWN RANGE. I said in a loud voice "PLEASE DON'T DO THAT WITH ME DOWN RANGE". No DQ with the RO close by, just a "UH, O.K." There is a rule book to keep this sport fair and safe and it applies to ALL USPSA sanctioned matches, not just level 2 and 3's. I'm trying to better myself and not be such an A**hole so these situations are tests for me and untill I can get my delivery down I prefer to avoid them but I'm going to let all on here know that the next time, "SCREW WHAT OTHERS THINK", I'm going to go F' ing bullistick when someone says "It's just a local match".
  3. Attitude! That's what my journey has been about. Everyone is different so I'm only speaking for myself when I say Attitude/Possitiveness is the #1 driving factor in my improvement. I started shooting USPSA in March of 2000 after a very good friend introduced me to it. I was on fire for the sport. My attitude was "gotta win no matter what, and to hell with what others think" after all this is how I excelled in the Miltary why shouldn't it work everywhere else. Well, the man that introduced me to the sport was the only person who could stand to shoot with me. Everybody else thought I was an A**hole and rightly so. The friend knows me away from shooting and knows my true character so he stuck with me through it. One day my wife, bless her beautiful heart, was video taping me on a stage that I blew in a big way and when the following fit throwing commenced she kept the tape rolling and let me see what I looked like to others. This woke me up. The funny thing is that the driving factor wasn't for self betterment but because I have two boys and this is not not the Father I want them to see. I stopped shooting for about 2 months and decided that when I went back there was going to be a big change. That change came slow. Acctually, it is still on-going. Well, life/work got in the way and the friend that stuck with me couldn't shoot as often so I didn't have a lot of driving support and was left to my own devices to change into the new and improved Daniel. I managed to change enough so that I didn't just make others sick when they would see my name on their squad, at least some of them anyway, and I steadily got better. This was an outward betterment and not an inward betterment so it didn't really change my attitude only my outward character, slightly. I still didn't give a crap what others thought, only what they saw of me. In August of 2006 the friend that stuck with me introduced me to a new friend. The new friend didn't know the old Daniel but knew the present one who still needed a lot of work and so the progress continued. When there is a driving force, no matter if it is to excell at your job, impress a girl/guy, or strive not to disappoint someone you respect greatly, a person can do some pretty cool things. I started caring about what others thought because I didn't want them to be discomforted. This was a BIG step for me because the last thing on Earth I ever gave a crap about was someone elses comfort, but there I was, valueing friendship so much that I didn't want "Daniel" to bring down "Friend" so I started allowing "Friend" to raise up "Daniel". A true friend is one who will say "Dude, your being a dick, stop!" and then just carry on with the routine of the day. Well, at the present I'm still working really hard and still fall on my butt quite a bit but I just walked away from the Monster Match and the Florida Section with 1st place division/class wins and I'm moving up faster than I ever have. I am sure that I will see my 'M' card in Production inside a year and 'GM' within three. Don't get me wrong, I have a quite a few friends in and because of this sport and they have all helped in my development and I care for them all greatly (They know who they are) but the friends that hang with me away from the sport and know where my loyalties lie are helping me so greatly on my road of improvement in all aspects of my life including my shooting that I do it for me so that I can be a light unto them. Gary, Jeff & Chris, Thank you. My blood is yours and your brother I'll always be. As my attitude betters so does my life . In all aspects. Positive input=Positive output. Avoid negativity.
  4. Call the Arkansas St. Police. Ask them. Get the name and Badge/Employee number of the person you speak with no matter what the answer is. If you get pulled over just give the information of who you spoke with and what they said. I'm from just outside of Little Rock and every Cop in Arkansas has a different opinion on the matter so take back up. 6. A Snipers rifle is "Combat accurate".
  7. +1 on the Howard Lights. They work great and are very inexpensive. http://www.reddotshooting.com/index.asp?Pa...&ProdID=257
  8. "If noone ever told you that bullets fly straight, what would you do?" I'ld learn that fact on my own. I hope every bad guy in the world watches that movie and believes that crap. A little too far out there for even me and I liked "Last Man standing".
  9. Stages 4,5 & 6 were thrown out because, due to the Sun (The ultimate timer) going down faster than the shooters could shoot the match, scores for those three stages could not be calculated for all competitors. The rules state it so that's how they had to do it. I'm also going to say that stage 7 almost got tossed because one competitor did not have a chance to shoot it and he was doing really well in the match and when the Match Director went to him and discussed it he said "Just give me a DNF on that stage so it doesn't screw up everyone else". Thank you greatly Marshall Todd for your sacrifice. You are truely one of the greatest people in this sport. Stage 7 is the stage that I won HOA in Production on.
  10. Chris Keen Came down and kicked some Limited butt. Congradulations on HOA Limited. It was also great meeting you.

  14. OOPS! The content of the deleted statement changed in 1998 therefore I deleted it so as not to give mis-information. Here's a link about her. http://www.af.mil/news/airman/1103/gunssb1.html Still cool though.
  15. Yes we are getting rain. A lot of rain. Especially on the East coast. Should be a 'great weather' weekend though. It's accually a 'spinning' port.
  16. Instant DQ. I've been there + some and managed to keep my finger off the trigger and muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Every time I've let one go unintentionally (3 DQ's during reloads) it was a negligent discharge because I neglected to keep my finger off the trigger. No accident.
  17. Absolutely! And as for Bruce; He is a 'shirt off my back' kind of guy. One of the rare ones. I don't even know him that well and can tell that.
  18. That's a 'Hardees' in the background. You fixed it while I was posting.
  19. Go here, http://www.reddotshooting.com/ , They have a good deal on Blade-tech mag pouches for the M&P mags. These are what I use and at first they stuck a little but I sprayed the insides with sylicone spray and they are the best, fastest mag pouches I've ever used.
  20. I've been using Ramshot Competition with Precision bullets in 9mm and .40 for quite a while because I did a big test and used most of the powders mentioned here and found Ramshot smoked the least.
  21. This is spot on. Get into your own game and get all the other distractions out of the way. 'Be the newb' . Ask more questions and listen to the advice of those who have been shooting steady for the past 3 years that you've taken off. Have fun and just make the gun go bang as fast and accurately as 'YOU' can. Relax, shoot smooth and have fun and you'll have an 'A' card in 4-6 months.
  22. The plaque is GREAT!! The coolest I've seen yet. Just wish Production got $ with it. We need enough Production shooters next year so that there's a pay back. How many we need Smitty?
