  1. Wow. Bet that will cut down on appendix carry?
  2. I did that exact thing! Had a TRR8 I got for SC but it just swung weird for me. Too light. Was over swinging the targets, especially the 35 yd stuff. Mt times went up! Sold it to a nice fellow on these forums and bought a 929. Alchin mount, Sig Romeo 3 and right away my times came back down. I like the heavier guns for everything other than big falling steel stages. Good build and happy shooting.
  3. That's awesome! Actually, males me jealous cause it's nicer than any of mine! But then, yours ain't a Buck mark lol. Great job.
  4. Yeeeep them good ole days. Shot my Mossberg 36" turkey gun last time out. Bolt action. Extra full choke. Gave her heck on the report pairs! Yep I shot a 40 too. Out of 200. Corse was hard though. Had to walk uphill both ways...
  5. It's not just the "cop" shows. I hate when the guys on the "shooting" shows show them firing in slo mo and every time the gun fires, they blink! Pretty hard to call shots that way. Pretty sad for "professional" shooters. But then, I always enjoyed the gun handling on the A Team!
  6. I enjoy it more also. Simple rules, hard for the gamers, instant reaction. It's fun shooting full house ammo fast. It's been a long time since I shot pins much. We had a bowling alley up the road close recently. Gotta stop and see if I can score some pins. And some old bowling balls! Fun with guns.
  7. I see that when the Davis clan brought back the "Second Chance" pin shoot in Michigan, renamed now the "Pin Shoot" they also have tables with 10 or more pins. Different levels, more pins, more fun! I wish I could get me some of that! I started about 40 years ago at a local club shooting pins. 1 table, 5 pins, 1, 3 or 4 feet from the back depending on caliber. We had a guy shooting a 357 Desert Eagle, a guy shooting an original 10mm Delta Elite, and guys always brought lever action deer rifles for the special end of the day hose down. Still a favorite!
  8. I do. Kind of became a habit shooting in falling steel matches with a 10 round mag limit and when shooting a 6 shot revo. After #6 comes click. I really was glad for that when shooting in rimfire falling steel. 55 to 70 targets with 90 second par time. Counting allows for loading a fresh mag with 1 in the chamber. Used to shoot plate matches with a friend who shot to slide lock every mag. When we timed slide lock vs counting the counting was always 1 to 2 sec. faster every mag change. Counting is faster IMHO and for good reason..
  9. I have shot a couple dozen different manufacturers and styles of 9mm. Started with Almax from (I think) Ohio in the 80s. I used to prefer 135gr Bayou because they were one of the few who made 135 coated and because I really liked dealing with Donnie! Now I have a "bullet guy" who makes what I want (now usually 125 RN powder coated pink) and since we shoot together I get them for $50 / K. They are pretty much all the same at 135ish PF. IMHO
  10. I’m the type of guy who likes to dial in one load for a particular purpose and then stick with it, so I appreciate everyone’s input before I get up and running on serious reloading for PCC. Me too. I shoot 3.6gr Win 231/HP38 with i25 powder coated or Bayou (.355 dia.) in in all of my 9mm. Auto pistols, PCC etc. For revolver I shoot the same charge but with a .3575 powder coated bullet because that's what my 929 likes. Simple is really good!
  11. I really like that Canik's are ambidextrous too.
  12. Canik on left (factory) Buckmark on right (allen head bolt through 1/4" tube)
  13. Sure if I can figure out how... Old folks you know?
  14. On guns like the Buckmarks I drill and tap a hole and use steel tube over the bolt with Locktite in the hole. Might be enough on that slide to fit one. My canik also uses the sight plate.
  15. My older son liked archery and rifles. We spent much time shooting bows together. With the .22 we shot at 3 targets hung about 90 yd from the porch. 12" plate was worth 1. 8" square plate was 2 and 6" circle was 3. Each shot 1 5 round mag twice and best score won. He was 10 and it took a long time for him to win but man did he get good with a rifle! Younger boy started at 6 with a red dot Mark 2 and 2 plate racks at 10 yd. He would knock them down, unload, set them up and shoot again. My pistol range has all the steel; Texas Star, plate racks, all of it. His favorite was by far bowling pins! 25 feet, knock them off the table. Progressed to 9mm by 10 and he is almost as good as the better shooters around here. Have lots of fun and be safe.
  16. Maybe this? I have had good luck with my Fusion https://fusionfirearms.com
  17. I always remove my finger also, but I keep the gun at eye level as much as possible. Like I said prior, I think this "new rule" will be the cause of DQ for some shooters. Many have not trained to remove their finger and I don't believe they will be able to learn it on the run. I think those who want to will usually get away with it because many (most?) ROs follow the shooter, not lead into the next bow and they usually time the last shots from inside rather than outside the shooter. At least in my experience.
  18. Plated and coated bullets are recommended to load with lead bullet data.
  19. I think it's a rule in search of a DQ. Every club where I have shot SC there have been those who never remove their finger when they move from box to box on Outer Limits. They mostly seem to be the sponsored people who have to perform at the higher levels, hence are never warned about it. In fact a few years ago at the Nats we noticed the group before us had several and our group did also. We asked the RO about it. He first said that it wasn't happening. One of our squad showed him like 6 video clips. His reply was, "Well, if they have an AD I guess we will have to act." My friend said, "Yeah, nice rule." Late in our squad, however, they did warn a guy - about a 15 year old kid shooting with his Grandpa. Make whatever rules you want. Somebody will always game the stage and get away with it. PS When they show SC on the shooting shows on TV you can usually find somebody moving with a finger on the trigger. Maybe that's why so many want Outer Limits removed as a stage?
  20. This topic has been on my mind for a while. I have a 1911 6" which is my favorite gun to shoot due to its qualities of soft recoil, better velocities, etc. I shoot dots so the sight radius is moot. I have wondered about buying a Rock Island Armory in 9mm/22 TCM in double stack and fitting a 6" slide to it. Sure would be cheaper than a custom. Then I get to thinking, why not do A 6" AND A 7"? I would then have a 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 6 AND 7"! Might have to look into it a bit more.
  21. Should be a 7-day waiting period to get a 'ninny permit'. Maybe longer!
  22. I did a couple SC Nats a few years ago. The guy from Steel Target Paint had teens who were his 'factory staff' that ran and painted the targets. They ran down and back. When they were on deck/shooting we painted. The different 'pros' we shot with didn't paint very much. Guess they aren't allowed to get their shirts dirty? Dang teenagers anyway!
