  1. True Dat. I don't worry about it much. As stated the signature thing is a maybe for me too. Here's the thing; If a guy is, say, at work, how does he wait at home to sign if needed? If the tracking says, 9AM to 10AM, how does he get home to sign or not sign? Give a working man a break! I did it for 50 years. Maybe you have too? I am retired so I don't worry when they get here. The guy stops here almost always first cause I'm on his way out. The guy is really great! Some drivers not so much. My dogs like to try to get in his van for their "treats". I give the benefit of the doubt to somebody trying to make do. Do you? Not all delivery guys, shippers or home situations are identical.
  2. Nice to see how much you care. Gives me a warm feeling in my... wait. I wet myself laughing at how much you care.
  3. And then they tell you when it will be delivered: "M-F between the hours of 8 AM and 9 PM" Quite handy for the working man!
  4. Agreed with the above. I was setting up alone. Retired, others work. There was an excavating guy at our club and we set up with his laser once. I used the same (5) ranges for the same setups. I cut my posts and marked them for the proper lever. Lot of work but always correct. I understand that most clubs can't/won't go to those lengths. Not a problem. I even tried putting pins in the proper spots for the stands, color coded. That works for a while till somebody says, "Jeez here's a hunk of steel in the ground!" And pulls it! We talked about setting receivers with caps for the stands (a club south of me does that) and permanent boxes but never got to it. Too much snow, ice, frost, non-club member shooters etc. and not enough set up help, energy, time... Fun stuff when it all works.
  5. I have seen similar. Posts too short, measurements wrong, boxes wrong... It used to bug me but I don't sweat it now that I am retired from competition. I was talking to B.J. Norris at the Nats one year and he told a story about training with Jerry M. His Dad used to dive him from Texas to La. a couple times a week. He said one day Jerry was air shooting a stage with his eyes closed and said such and such a target is 2 feet to the right. Run down and fix it kid. Norris said when he got there, there was a paint spot on the ground and sure enough the target was moved! (I always paint spotted where the stand went so if that happened, I could fix it without remeasuring at club matches.) My range at home has PVC pipes in the ground for the different stages so set up is easy and quick. That's how trained some people are for position. Clubs try I think to do right but sometimes stuff gets moved sort of.
  6. well, yeah. Kind of what the thread is about. Who exactly is the one to call "slightly"? And do slightly things matter in the strictest sense of the rules?
  7. Many clubs in Pennsylvania (North East) usually do shut down / cut down matches in winter. I didn't run December here due to deer hunting and Christmas. January and February are tough. Sometimes have to move snow to make target lanes for SCSA. Lots of snow! Hated to shove those 35 yard stages! I tried to run Jan - Nov. Had to cancel a couple due to weather, Low turnout on most winter shoots. USPSA runs (or so it seems) March or April through October. 1 club here runs earlier some years. Nothing set in stone. We just don't have nice weather some years. My home range has a woodstove and big windows/doors to shoot out of so I start (when I am competing) in January. Snow blow parts of the range. A lot of work but that's how we have fun. My buddy is USPSA MD at my old SCSA club. He gets his 7 per year usually. They gave a pass during Covid, although we shot some SCSA due to the "fresh air" thing...
  8. USPSA owns SC. Literally. To keep their SC certification a club has to run a minimum number of SC matches per year. Clubs also have to run a minimum number of USPSA matches. Unfortunately, USPSA couldn't really care less about SC. Except of course for the $1 per shooter, per gun SC fee.
  9. Sorry to hear this. Not why we got into shooting in the first place but I guess that is how some people have to be. At least he can't stop you from having a good attitude and some fun.
  10. I'm not looking for a match. I have quit shooting competitions. I ran club matches for 2 years this time, 4 years at another club in the past. I stopped due to severe arthritis and haven't really looked back. I have as much fun shooting on mi home range now. Rimfire to revolver auto to PCC. Whatever, whenever. Nothing more to prove. My classification ended about 2 years ago and I'm good with that. All I look for is honesty and class of character now. Like I was once taught and rarely ever see. To each his own.
  11. What has always bothered me is, as GreggK said, the scores are reported. I got to M by working my tail off - 25K / year - and am competing against clubs with this sloppy set up. Their excuse is nearly always the same, "Well, I'm just a volunteer..." or "I'm more of a USPSA guy, so..." I don't shoot matches anymore, so...
  12. I ran into the exact same thing with a club I used to shoot at. We showed up for 5 stages of Steel Challenge and while checking out what was set up. found some things very wrong! Outer Limits was set up with 3 feet between shooting boxes! The MD was saying that you could start at any box and shoot any direction! Showdown was set up with 3 feet between boxes and competitors were told that you can shoot from any box, 5 runs, doesn't matter. We found several discrepancies in the 5 stages. So I went and asked if the results were being sent in. Yes. I asked that the stages, then, be set up correctly. Fast forward: After this happened several matches, guys began telling me that the MD was saying that I was a PITA and don't listen to my "complaints". I quit shooting ther. Then I started to MD at another club nearby, S.C. BTW, I set up my stages with an 8-foot T square and a 110-ft tape. Mine were within the +/- 2". Some guys done know, don't want to know, don't care about the rules.
  13. Don't know if it is the same but Numrich Arms (Gun Parts Corp) has Gp100 hammers and all of the hammer parts in stock. It says they are used/original. Hope it helps.
  14. This. I usually do unload them after the rounds are empty though. I still have a bunch loaded from my last SC match. In July of 2019.
  15. Find a good rheumatologist. Family Doc can give a referral because the rheumatologists are way over booked. They will Xray and go with the proper meds to help. Some give relief, some treat the disease. I quit shooting completely for 2 1/2 years due to 2 types of arthritis. Back shooting now but no matches. Arthritis can cause a whole list of physical issues including hearing loss, fatigue and much more. You won't know the damage till it is too late. Besides the pain, stiffness, loss of dexterity and the rest. Vitamins won't help much. Meds can slow it down. Nothing can cure some types. Good luck. Maybe a bunch of us can start our own division? You know, Sr. Super Senior, Arthritic Senior...
  16. Kind of makes me wonder why the "Is reloading even worth it with primer prices so high?" thread keeps coming back. Well, yeah. It is worth it. If only for ammo your gun will shoot. Or, you can crank the strain screw back up to the factory 10 lbs. and it will shoot anything. I seem to remember that Federal doesn't use the softer primers in centerfire or rimfire in some cases.
  17. Hogue has their BigButts in several styles. I hear that some folks even build them up more with epoxy and some sand or grind them for fit. Hogue used to offer a service where you could trace your hand and they will tailor fit the grip. I have the BigButts on all of my competition revolvers including a 686 Plus and a refit 586 Plus.
  18. ah. My bad. I shoot 9mm in a 929. I was shooting 105 Bayou and happened to shoot a couple matches with Josh Lentz. He was shooting 96 gr at an even lower velocity than my load! My bullet guy could make the 96 gr so I jumped on board! Great revolver load!
  19. There is a YOUTUBE video of the run and the framed certificate being shown. I saw a video somewhere that showed 2 runs, 1 at 2.01 and the 1.88 Pretty similar (with some editing) as the record a few years ago in Vegas when he did the STL drill.
  20. Steel Challenge. No PF. No recoil. Just have to wait for the bullet at 35 yards. But then< I call shots so no waiting.
  21. HP38 will still show a bit of smoke under certain conditions; shooting into the sun (some ranges have East/West facing ranges) and at certain times of the day (sun angle). It is one of the better powders for 9mm and 38 IMO. Usually, it is more the temperature causing the coating to burn off. Some of the bullet makers are starting to powder coat. That coating is less "smoky" than the traditional coatings. The original Bayou coating (green) smelled like burning hair! The coating they switched to is far better. Good to test at various angles toward the sun and to teat at various times of the day.
