Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. My Oder was from X-treme bullets came in less than 1 week.
  2. Sounds interesting. Saw this post, though years old. Same interest. Want to load X-treme 200 SWC with WST. I lucked out to be at my LGS when a few pounds of WST came in. Did web search and grabbed a pound for my project: to work up loads for 45 ACP with 200 SWC using WST for 1911s, CZ and Kimber. Built dummy round..plunk test with 1.2355 so bullet misses rifling. I like soft to moderate loads that are clean burning. Was searching for load data published load data and saw this post….though years old. If not against the rules I would like to hear more on this.
  3. One caveat… I do not need to make major power factor, just want to plink with sufficient powder load to get clean non sooty cases using my 200 gr SWC plated bullets. Starting my project with plated X-tremendous bullets. Later, will buy some Missouri or Bayou coated bullets, probably 200 gr RN. Long range goal is to collect up the stuff: a mold or two, handle, lead, tin, etc., to roll my own…without breaking the bank. I have the Lyman 25 furnace which I got….then pandemic hit. Still hope to get to casting my own.
  4. Anyone have favorite site for published load data for WST in 45 ACP? Plan to load some 200 gr SWC plated using WST which is said to be clean burning for 45 ACP.
  5. I found a powder WST that I had heard was a favorite for many for 45 ACP and the x-treme plated 200 SWC bullets. Here in People’s Republic of Vermont; half kidding…propane is being squeezed out by legislature…only half kidding, see, talking high taxes and of living, I’m not being political. But, this WST. The reloading stuff is scarce. The 2 gun store around me have even resorted to selling used stuff they got I don’t know where…estates? Like bullets, cases, dies going for lower prices. I saw a few pounds of WST came in and I grabbed me a pound. Plan to make up some initial test loads with coal of 1.236 in the 1911s to see how they feed and cycle. Anyone else using WST for 45 ACP?
  6. I like cleaner burning. Hodgdon site shows Titegroup with leadcast bullet about my same coal length. Might use that load data. Thanks
  7. Thanks MuayThaiJJ, Himurax13 and Farmer for your experience with this bullet. At this point, coal 1.2075 seems shorter than needed despite plunk and spin. I think I can go longer. I will pull the dummy round, and do plunk and spin testing on my barrel starting at 1.270 (but not shorter than 1.230). Not looking for fire breathing speed. Speer #12 manual shows Unique and AA#5 having a wider range between the starting load and max load power weight. Further online research of Western Powders data and Hodgdon place the 200 grain SWC in Berry’s plated and even the LC lead LSWC showing pressure data. I see some powders with higher pressures in data. So, will choose from Unique, Titegroup and Silhouette, hoping the 1911s cycle good without any FTFs
  8. My extreme bullets came in 1 week from factory on left coast to northeast US. I was planning to reload with bullet a thumb nail thickness longer than case mouth. Now, thinking I will use Baers recommendation of 1.245, which might give me the 30 thousand shoulder Trimmy mentioned. I have no 231 powder, but have Unique, Herco, AA#5, #7 and #9, HS-6, Silhouette, CFE pistol and Titegroup. Have the Speer #12 manual show Unique, AA#5, AA#7 and HS-6. I might try to load some with Unique and a batch with HS-6.
  9. Does anyone have experience with these plated SWC For a 45 auto 1911? Curious what COAL folks find works best with 45 auto 1911. I have set up my Dillon for coal of 1.2075 and that give about a thumb nail of bullet to case mouth space. I did dummy round and it plunks nicely in my. 45 auto barrel. I am considering: Unique, AA#5, and possibly Herco, having tough time finding data. Probably will use Speer. #12 Edition data and ladder load. Anyone have experience they can share?
  10. I am a new member. I just got box of 500 SWC 200 gr with FREE SHIPPING as they had Valentine’s Day special.
