  1. In a similar vein, I miss the match break down that shows the number of participants at a match broken down by Division and Classification. The breakdown is coming - we had to concentrate on the essentials for Phase I. The detail for a competitor is already there - Look for "Competitor or USPSA Number ", a box to enter the member or competitor number, and "Display Summary" at the bottom of the page that lets you pick what division and stage you want to see. I'll add the "click the uspsa number" feature shortly - but, at least you can already get the data you seek.
  2. The data storage for the scores was redone with the new web site (database instead of flat files). All old results are available by following the link on the bottom of the results page that says "Click to review results upload prior to October 1, 2010"
  3. I don't think it's fair to criticize an AD for not voting with the herd. Each of Charles' votes were based on sincerely held opinions, and were motivated by his desire to do the best job he could for the organization. Who knows - there may be some of them where history will prove he was right and I was wrong. I think heading towards more equal representation is a good idea, however, my concern is that this is something that we need to involve the members in and not "surprise" anyone with. Logically, it could make sense for A7 to pick up NJ and PA - it would give a contiguous block, and put three of the capacity limitied states (MA, NY and NJ) in one area. The problem is the long established identity of an "area", and the scope of geography of coverage people travel from for an Area Championship. Change will not be welcomed by all, but we can make sure that everyone understands the issue and is given a chance to let their AD know their opinion. Once every N years (perhaps every 10) would probably make sense, with a report of the proposed area changes to be generated one year before the time for the scheduled updating. Actually, it's a matter of every member feeling they should have the same voice. The proposal Charles has made is redrawing area boundaries so that each AD represents approximately the same number of people. USPSA is unique in the action shooting sports - try joining any of the other action sports (IDPA, SASS, TSA, etc.) and ask when you get your ballot The one non-USPSA action shooting organization (other than the NRA via the Bianchi Cup) that does have election only elects representatives who may make non-binding suggestions to the unelected leadership. USPSA has always treated every member's vote as important - which is why we hire a CPA firm to tabulate election results even though we could do it more cheaply in-house.
  4. The RO exams are not yet on the new web site. I expect to have that completed this weekend. The "Classifiers by club" feature is not on the web site (that's coming in a later phase). If you *really* need to see the old stuff, go to www.uspsa.info to see a copy of the old site.
  5. Agreed. This was an oversight and it will be corrected - soon. It sounds like you have been reading the emails between HQ and the development team. The issue will be addressed.
  6. It had nothing to do with "Friday", but with the First of a month. We switched to a better results system (database rather than file driven - which will allow all sorts of new stuff to be developed). We needed a clear simply line between the old and new, and wanted that to be on the first of a month. I also will improve the lookup screen to let people pick clubs by name or club code, not just club code.
  7. I attempted to minimize the downtime by copying some data from the old site before I locked uspsa.org and did the installation. It looks like that match must have been uploaded in the narrow window of time when I was preping the new site for install. Those results were in the archive copy I have of the old site, and have been installed in the new site (I'm re-copying all the legacy results just in case we have this issue with any other matches) Details please rob
  8. The lip at the front of the baseplate of the old GI mags was just the right thickness for the slot in grip screws of the era.
  9. Look real hard on the left side. If the color calibration on your monitor is off, you ain't gonna see it... Green on green right now. There is a problem with the HTML. As a temporary measure, you can visit the "stripped" version of the legacy display scripts I am delivering to the part of the dev team that does the pretty stuff: www.uspsa.org/legacy2. It's not pretty, has no nice menus, but should have what you seek.
  10. yeah got some logistics to figure out, either change club contact or send the "club contact" the upload file. Hopefully the payment method is similar. Nope - just have the club contact add your member number to the list of authorized uploaders for the club. And yes, the payment method is pretty much the same.
  11. Noticed that... A match I shot last Saturday the 25th is missing. Could you tell me the club and date? The project was done on an assembly line basis - The Hughes Design team workedon the CMS system, while I prepared "undecorated" versions of the code for the custom stuff that interacts with USPSA data. There are some problems with the legacy results - in general, you'll probably see the link buried in the source to the HTML. I will work with the Hughes designer to get this ironed out but rest assured, none of that data was lost.
  12. Yeah that's gonna screw things up for me temporarily, as I do stats for 3 local clubs that I am not the official "club contact". I'll have to contact the clubs in question and see how long it takes to figure this out. There is one "Contact", but that "Contact" can add as many "authorized uploaders" to the club as they need. Go to Club Support and then select "Club Results Uploaders" to add permissions (if you are a club contact). Authorized uploaders can do everything a club contact can do except add more authorized uploaders. This will be very convenient for people who do stats for multiple clubs.
  13. Looking now. It's going to be something trivial.
  14. You've got that right. The new site is a combination of a CMS system from Hughes Design built with some standard tools and fully custom code (the stuff having to do with membership status, scores, classifiers, NROI work record, NROI rulings, NROI exams (these will be available in a few days), etc. We have done away with the concept of a member password - you login with your USPSA member number and the PIN from your front sight label, then hit "Personal Profile" if you want to change it or modify several of your preferences. We have also done away with the concept of "club passwords". Each club may have one "club contact" (set by Sedro) who may grant upload permission to additional persons using their USPSA member number. Access to adding major matches to the schedule uses the same mechanism - you can add a major match for any club that allows you to upload scores (NROI still needs to approve the listing). There will no doubt be some issues, and learning curve to climb, but it's certainly much more usable.
  15. NV conducts an annual review to determine what states have "substantially similar" requirements. The reasons are all covered in the original post with the NRA article. UT was taken off the list since that license can be obtained without any live fire in the training. FL was taken off the list since they expanded the validity period from 5 years to 7 years, and was thus no longer "equivalent".
  16. I'm glad nobody convinced me it was impossible before I picked mine up from the RI AG's office (nonresident, caliber 45, restrictions none - I didn't quite have the nerves to borrow a buddies 50 S&W for the qualification shoot - the caliber listed on the permit is a maximum one can carry)
  17. Nevada reviews their reciprocity list every year, and issues a new list effective July 1 of each year. The 2010 list is out and I noticed one change (RI was added) - I'm not sure what the other changes from 2009 are. Out of State Carry Concealed Weapon Permit Recognition Effective July 1, 2010 In accordance with NRS 202.3689 (effective October 1, 2007) the State of Nevada will recognize the following States' CCW permit holders: Alaska Arkansas Kansas Louisiana Michigan Missouri Nebraska New Mexico North Carolina Ohio Tennessee Rhode Island West Virginia This law allows holders of valid permits from these states to carry a concealed weapon while in the State of Nevada. The permit must be in the possession of the issue at all times while carrying a firearm. CCW Prohibited Locations defined by NRS 202.3673 http://www.nvrepository.state.nv.us/ccw_changes.shtml
  18. Time for a reductio ad absurdum proof. Consider the case where a poppper knocks out a stick holding a swinger that is exposed and bobs behind hard cover once activated (yeah, Troy is right - it is best for it to be hidden at rest). The impact of the popper on the support stick is what activates the swinger, not the impact of the bullet on the popper. This is not unlike the activation performed by the bowling ball, but with a smaller delay. If the interpretation that the bowling ball moving is not "activation", one would also have to conclude that a competitor who made a solid hit on the popper could not take a shot at the paper target until the popper made contact with the stick - even though it may be possible for a fast shooter to hit the target before the popper impacts the support stick.
  19. If you are interested in exploring tighter integration with USPSA processes (EzwinScore import, on-line squadding, etc.) I suggest you contact Dave Thomas after this year's shooting seasons starts to wind down.
  20. I think I have it fixed. USPSA is currently working on a major re-write of the web site. Part of the preparation to get us ready for the new site is to make sure everyone is moved over to 4.02 or later EzWinScore, since the new upload procedure will not support files from the pre-4.0 versions. The problem was introduced when adding the check to make sure uploads on the current site are at 4.02 or later. rob
  21. It sounds crazy, but since they not really into shooting contests in the early phases, they could do a Spudzooka episode by having the guest expert [ assuming I could work it into my schedule ] give an overview on Spudzooka design and operation, then give each team a set of plumbing supplies, cans of various propellants (WD40, hairspray), and give them a day to build their team weapon. I'd also be sure to include multiple diameter tubes, all way too long, and several varieties of potatoes - so they would have plenty of choices. In other words, a cross between Top Shot and Junkyard Wars.
  22. Perhaps. We do have a court case which states that a Spudzooka is not a firearm or a nefarious machine. (Yes, the DA tried to prosecute for unlawful carry of a firearms without a license).
