  1. Maybe there is a backup job that shuts down then dumps the database every night?
  2. First decision, standard sized CZ frame or Tactical Sport. The TS is a larger, heavier gun and basically designed for limited. If the TS is too heavy, the next step down would be a SP01 (railed frame) model. Below the SP01 is the standard short dust cover frame. For the non-TS guns the general rule of thumb is that you want to something without a firing pin block. That makes for a really nice reset. Since you are in limited you can remove the FPB from any model but it all depends on how comfortable you are wrenching on CZs. If you want to go cheap buy an SA or 85c model from CZ custom and have them install the competition hammer (remove the disconnector on the 85c, or FPB from the SA) and install decent sights. Done. Well, you'll probably want a magwell and some extended base pads, heavy duty spings, etc. For standard mags, Mec Gars run excellent are pretty cheap. I'd go with the SP01 Shadow since it's in stock and affordable. Call CZC and ask for Stuart. Have him set it up with the comp hammer and a magwell and whatever else he thinks is critical.
  3. Most dogs will draw the line at anything less palatable than poop.
  4. I think my two year old has a decent diet, he'll eat fruit, yogurt, pasta, pretty much anything he can dip into ketchup. However, my wife is dismayed he won't eat most vegetables, quinoa, tofu, etc. I tried to explain to my wife (tip-toeing through a mine field) that our son has the same tastebuds as I do but he's just not as polite when it comes to his Yelp reviews. God forbid we ever get a kid who is a picky eater. She'll end up in an asylum.
  5. Is the recoil impulse and cleanliness comparable as well?
  6. The throat on my CZs have been the limiting factor in OAL. Buy a Manson standard reamer from Brownells (~$70) and some Oatey Dark Thread Cutting Oil for $7 in the plumbing aisle at Home Depot. Optionally buy Manson go, no-go gages to verify headspace (~$30 for both). Buy a tap handle if you don't already own one. Don't use a wrench as a substitute for a tap handle. My amateur process: Shove a cotton ball in the barrel just below the depth of the reamer to catch the metal shavings and oil. Put the barrel in a vice, chamber facing up. Generously oil the reamer and the chamber. Insert the reamer and turn the clockwise, don't push downward more than slight pressure, let the weight of the tool do the work and turn the tap handle with both hands so there isn't a side load on the cutter. Turn the handle until it turns free and smooth. This should take about 30 seconds (or less) of turning the reamer. If you stop once the reamer turns free you won't change headspace. Push the cotton ball back through the chamber and clean as the barrel to remove any remaining metal chips.
  7. Happy Birthday Stuart! Thanks for all the support and mentoring you've provided to the forum over the years. To say you are a valuable asset to the community is an understatement.
  8. Anyone have technical insight to the process that is changing?
  9. Huh, I had a similar problem a while back and Hornady sent me a new o-ring that rides under the knob. I also got into the habit of putting a little piece of blue tape on the micrometer just for piece of mind.
  10. CDNN has factory glock mags for $19.99 all day long. Retail on Midway is $25 but they used to go on sale regularly.
  11. I don't quite understand the problem magpul is trying to solve. Glock mags are cheap, reliable and easy to obtain. I realize they added couple cool features but for another $5-10 I'll buy the OEM mags. Cheap HK mags would be interesting.
  12. It might also be a short throat. Take a once fired case, knock out the primer with a punch or a nail then fit a bullet on top. Plunk that little guy ointo the SL barrel and pushit in slowly letting the riffing set the OAL. Gently remove the round and measure. That is your max OAL for the HAP bullets. Load to max oal - 0.010". Or find someone with a chamber reamer.
  13. I own both, you made the right choice. I recommend calling DW and asking them about sights. Seriously, I generally don't give a crap about cast/MIM as long as they work but the DW milled parts are only second to SVI. I installed a Wilson or Ed Brown ambi safety but felt it cheapened the gun and that made me a sad panda. I called up DW and Eric (?) hooked me up with a milled ambi safety that was cheap and only took about 15 minutes to install.
  14. OAL is dependent on the bullet's profile. MG JHP's need to be loaded shorted than any other bullet I've tried. As Steve mentioned, do a plunk test with the bullet you want to load, subtract .010" and call it good.
  15. If your gun shoots where you want it to in terms of elevation get the same height. Just be aware that different sight manufacturers measure sights differently. Some start from the top of the slide, others from the bottom of the sight dovetail. I prefer an aprox. .100" wide front sight with a green fiber. In regards to the slide release, that is common and some (myself included) prefer it. My glock 34 did it from the factory, my CZ required a little filing on the slide stop. It can be a sign of a weak slide stop spring, worn slide stop or slide notch. Or just what your gun likes to do. If it functions fine otherwise (locks back on empty mags, feeds OK, etc) don't worry about it.
  16. I'd get more lovin' if my wife were blind. She requires antacids, complete darkness, no more than a crescent moon, and bags over both of our heads (just in case). I bet it's way easier to sneak guns past a blind wife. I'll be here all week folks. Don't forget to tip your waitress. Goodnight.
  17. 21x $1k guns sold in under 24hrs! Did someone at EAA read 'The Wealth of Nations' and decide to do a case study in making money despite completely ignoring the demand for their product? Why does Tanfoglio put up with them? Ugh, so frustrating.
  18. Awesome and still relevant. I will say the intro needs to have the Airwolfe theme dubbed in.
  19. Ahh good point about not reaming. With CNC lathes I guess anything is possible. The factories can always stamp "MATCH" on their under sized barrels and charge a couple extra bucks.
  20. I'm guessing C-More had an overstock of large and small dot modules so they listed a bunch of different configurations hoping that people would take the bait and once the over stock was depleted all of the prices would be changed back to the original prices. Along the same lines as how the airlines like to oversell flights knowing there will always be last minute cancellations. Then we idiots came along and purchased every discounted unit on amazon and they either oversold the diode modules. FYI: CMore Blue is really Pimp Purple. The more you know....
  21. As I mentioned in another thread I finally got fed up with chamber specs being all over the map. I picked up a Manson finishing reamer and some go/no-go gages for about $100 and a bottle of cutting fluid from home depot. 15 minutes worth of work later and all my 9mm competition guns have the same chamber and throat. Now I can run the same rounds in my 9mm 1911 which likes a long'ish load and my CZ's which always needed a super short OAL to keep from hitting the rifling.
  22. Are the US bound Stock 3's still all coming with the small frame? I really want a large frame S3 in 40.
  23. Is there a new trend whereby gun/barrel manufacterers are cutting their barrels with really short throats or are they just being cheap by running their reamers until the go-gage no loner goes into battery? I ask because the last four 9mm barrels I've received (whole guns and parts) barely have any free space between the chamber and the rifling. The worst barrel would only accept 124gr MG JHPs out to 1.080" the best was 1.100". I purchased a Manson finish reamer and all of the barrels will now chamber the same bullets out to 1.135-1.140". I tried not to change the head space, I just turned the reamer until it spun freely. The reamed chambers were all within .003" of their original depth and they all pass the go/no-go gage test. I figured if the vendors were just being cheap and using worn out reamers then the barrel's chamber should be tight as well as having a short throat but that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe the throat part of the reamer wears down before the chamber portion?
  24. Who hoo, the Railway I ordered in January 1 has shipped!

    Chola makeup

I'm not sure what a Chola is but I'm pretty sure they don't vacation in NH very often. Maybe during the fall foliage season. I hope she gets into gunsmithing and home improvement videos. I find her videos very instructional and easy to follow.
