  1. The Production rules review are up on the USPSA members section. Rich Note: merged from another thread -Micah B
  2. There's a great guy down in TX who I use for my bluing, if your interested I'll get you his number. Rich
  3. Duane, 1- It can be done but, one would need patience as well as skill. 2- I've only seen/ installed one version, grips over the well with screws. It could be welded on. 3- The oval design would probably be made by someone else and it would be a weld on. Rich
  4. Howard, It's not too bad, I know I'll have fun shooting it at the Nationals this year. Rich
  5. I guess if he did get a SS it might look something like this. Problem is he has got a gunsmith who's shop motto is "We maybe slow, but we're wrong". Rich
  6. I don't know if he could even do a mag change with such a small opening. Rich
  7. If Henning was to have a single stack I would hope he would put his front sight on it. Rich
  8. A Springfield TRP in stainless, if you don't like the nights sights on it Heinie makes a set that will fit the dovetail cut. Rich
  9. I've been using this load since '96, 7.8-8.0 N350 135 grain Nosler/Zero at 1.2** oal. Rich
  10. SV with a squared trigger guard or a Springfield Pro/Leatham Legend. Rich
  11. Springfield XDm 40 factory tube, Grams spring and follower, and Canyon Creek base pad 21 rounds. Rich
  12. Use 9mm dies, you end up with the coke bottle look but it's nothing to worry about. I've used Dillon dies in 9mm since '95 and had no problems. Rich
  13. "In pistolsmithing there is very, very little need for a lathe." I don't agree with that statement, I use my lathe a lot in my pistolsmithing business, almost as much as my mill. There are plenty of Bridgeport mill out there at a good price, one just has to look and don't be a big hurry to buy. Rich
  14. The problem with the Production rules happened on day one of its inception. The rules were not clear, support from USPSA was sub par, and it was assumed the shooters would be able figure it out on their own. There seems to be a big assumption that the shooters messed everything up in Production, there's enough blame to go a round USPSA/BOD/NROI also are to blame. This didn't happen over night it happened over 8 years, the intent of what Pro. was supposed to be and what the rules committee wanted the rules to mean was never conveyed clearly. We have to deal with what we have right now, to me this means that a Pro. gun has to fit into the box, can't weigh over 2 oz. from factory with an empty mag, and retains the factory profile. Internal work is allowed as long as it doesn't effect the exterior of the gun. Since we have allowed grip stippling and checkering, plugs, exchange of sights, exchange of approved external parts, guide rods, barrels, slides, and I probably have missed something. Those items will have to be allowed, we can't back the train up. Pro. may not be what was intended from the beginning, it has grown into a Div. a lot of people want to compete in. What has happened in the past is the past, the future starts today, Pro. needs to continue the way the shooters have taken it. Hopefully the BOD will realize this and do the right thing. Rich
  15. I've got to the point if I can't get the number after playing it back twice I quit trying. I get the speed talker, who get the number out in under a half second 8001234567 or someone who's voice fades as they talk. Speak clearly and at a pace the number can be written without replaying it and I will call back. Rich
  16. It is not too late, the statement would have to based off where we are at right now, not 9 years ago. If we don't have a statement we will have what has happened for the last 9 years, a mindless wondering all over the map. It's allot easier to get some where when the tracks are in a straight line going in one direction. Right now there are about 6 spur lines going no where. Rich
  17. Don't limited yourself when looking for a Limited gun, the Tanfoglio(EAA), XDm, Caspian, and Springfield/Para are all viable choices. It's up to you which one feels right to you. Rich
  18. If there is going to be re-wording to the rules for Production lets not deal with just trigger work, lets get the Production rules resolved completely. And while we're at it lets get a misssion statement established so we don't have to deal with the "I thought is was supposed to be this..." or "the spirit of the division". Rich
  19. Ben, There is a ruling that isn't listed on the USPSA site any more it dealt with internal mods that effect the exterior of the gun. It helped in making the Vanek ruling, it basically said internal mods were ok but they could not effect any portion of the exterior. It came about when somebody was changing the internal notch on a mag release to extend it to one side or the other. Rich
  20. Nowlin cut is my choice 99.9% of the time. Rich
  21. Mods, Close this thread, discussion wasn't the intent. Rich
  22. The 5 or 6 times it cycles a day is from other air use daily, by passing wouldn't do anything even though it is disconnected when not being used. No 3 phase, phase converter for other equipment that use it. Rich I appreciate all the help but I've got it figured out. I'm just pissed that it went down when I needed it.
  23. You all are thinking too big, this is my shop air supply for gun smithing. I need 5.5 cfm @40 psi to use the blast cabinet, it's my biggest air use piece of equipment. When I'm not using the cabinet the compressor may kick on 5 or 6 times a day. I'd love to have a screw compressor but I still need to put a car into the garage. I've got 8 complete guns to blast, I got 3 lowers done before it crapped out. The oil less compressors I used in my carpentry career worked fine with little to no maintenance. These things just aren't built for the long haul. I should have just bought another motor for the old one but it just takes up too much room(horizontal). Rich
  24. In less than a year my compressor has gone down twice, the first time a woren piston ring, today it threw a rod. Piston, sleeve, rod, and cooling fan turned into tiny pieces. Cost of replacement parts over a hundred, new compressor( bigger and better) over a grand. My first compressor my dad bought back in 1973, it lasted till 2005 with just belt changes and oil. The latest one 3 years old and has gone down twice. Looks like I'll have to fix it and keep it for back up to the new one I'm going to have to buy. My current back up can't run my blast cabinet and I got to do alot of blasting. Rich
  25. I was on the USPSA NROI Rulings section a ruling that was made about internal vs. external is missing, what happened to it? It pertained to internal modifications that effected the external of the gun. It should support the belief that internal mods were allowed. It was brought out on the same day the Vanek ruling was made. Rich
