  1. Wish I could but I need to put in some home time or else I may have to move to TN permanently...plus my gun died on me in MI at the IDPA State match. First stage, two misfires (down an immediate 13 seconds after stage one); two stages later, another misfire (another eight seconds, etc.) - corrected a loose strain screw and then had a cylinder jam later in the day (more time)....then the second day I started getting low powder loads (poor accuracy about every 15th round) and even had a bullet pull out in the cylinder during a side match before the main event....not a fun trip. First gun trouble I've had in two years, first reload/ammo trouble in five years - a real head scratcher. My #2 gun was having trouble with my latest batch of reloads and I had hang ups with occasional moon clips and unburned powder so I didn't trust it either.... No, I'm laying low for a week or two and selling off my last motorcycle and paying off some bills. Looks like I'll be spending it on gunsmithing.
  2. Stay away from the Internet for a week and all hell breaks loose! Carmoney is in A Dave is in B Lefty is in B (on his way to A ) Too cool....
  3. I'll second that congrats to Gary. He's proof that practice pays off. He's been putting a hurting on us since he started dry-firing and practicing. He deserved to win Good Job Gary - you're going to make the rest of us get to work.
  4. Looks like this year’s match will fall well short of the 48 in 2005 with only 29 participants showing up for 2004. So much for that theory – Looks like Mr. BW might be shooting the wheel gun to offer his support to the cause. What is also noticeable is that some folks will be so pathetic as to actually shoot a moon clip gun in 2004 and then (due to rule changes) reclassify in the new ESR division – WITH THE SAME GUN TYPE – one or two classes below their classification in 2005. Looks like the system is working great to keep things honest and competitively equal…
  5. Ash: "This...is my boomstick! It's a 12 guage double barrelled Remington, S-mart's top of the line...you can find this in the sporting goods department...that's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan, retails for about $109.95, got a walnut stock, colbalt blue steel, and a hair trigger." Bad Ash: "Little Goodie Two Shoes." Sounds of fighting Good Ash: "Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun."
  6. "What do you use? Weapons wise - I'm a weapons man." "Weapons man." "Yeah." "Ok." "They tend to settle the argument. So what do you favour?" "Well you know it's a toolbox. I don't care you put the tools into the job that's all." "Oh." "Well you know I actually favour the old nine-teen-eleven." "Forty-five; old gun." "Served my country well, for a long time." "Your country. Not done too well though have you, the last few wars." "Perhaps not but at least we don't go around whining about it." "You ex-military?" "No I got my job through the New York Times."
  7. Matilda: "Follow the blue car." Driver: "And I suppose you want me to blast the music and go through the lights, eh?" Matilda: "No! You're going to drive slowly, take the hundred bucks, and shut the f*&k up - O.K.?"
  8. It made me laugh....<too much time wasted playing Combat Flight Simulator> Suddenly I don't feel guilty for wasting time on PS2 or reading a book when I should be at the range or dry firing....I see that geeky programmer types waste even more time coming up with that stuff... <no offense to geeky programmer types - I still need someone to save me when I forget how I locked my computer screen to "keep it safe" from myself">
  9. Oops, didn't see this....sorry. I know all my adoring fans were worried about me. When I haven't been changing dirty diapers or cleaning up baby puke - I have been trying to set up a new wireless laptop network here at home and haven't been online for about a week...now I can waste time that I should be using for dry fire to watch tv and surf at the same time....maybe by doing so I'll actually free up some dry fire time? SL
  10. I hope the revolver super squad will forgive me for jumping over to Squad 20 but I just had too much fun with the Kentucky Super Squad (or portions of it) at the KY match to pass up a second opportunity. Those guys made the Nats even more enjoyable. Hope to see some of you at Area 5...I'm shooting all day Saturday. Good luck!
  11. Funny, "President" sounds an awful lot like an elected position....
  12. That picture should be the cover on his second book! "S@#T stories by Steve Anderson: An Odyssey in Culinary Shooting" Cheeseburger at the Nationals - good Pork chop sandwich at the Nationals - a little dry but O.K. Brat at the Nationals - decent but potentially dangerous Chicken sandwich at the Nationals - assume the SA stance and pray for rain.
  13. I have compared this event to being a college football player that has watched the Rose Bowl on TV since he was a kid and then being able to actually play in the game...it was how I described it before going. I firmly believe it now. Even if you didn't win, you were able to play in the biggest game of your life and it is something no one will ever be able to take away from you for the rest of your life. The experience was overwhelming....more so on the way home than while it was happening. On the 8 hour drive home I revisited the match in my mind a hundred times. This may sound stupid to some but it was as if I had passed a rite of passage. The actual match was such a test of endurance, problem solving, and concentration that I didn't have time to think "I'm shooting in the biggest match of my life" and not once during the match did I get the jitters about being at The Nationals. The heat, terrain, challenging stages, level of competitors, etc. made it the most exhilarating thing I've ever done in my shooting experiences. Special thanks to my squad-mates on squad 20 for an excellent experience. I hope to shoot with all of them again real soon. It was awesome.
  14. Make sure they bump his butt up to M at the Nationals...he earned it!
  15. I'm both - wheelgunner and Ice House resident for the week. I usually have a beige Blackwater baseball cap on. All my revo buddies from Ohio bailed out on me this trip too. Probably arriving late Saturday night. See you there!
  16. That stinks but at least nothing physical happened to him. Our motto is 2-2 always have two. Next time he should blow off work and come shoot with the other revo guys....I had an extra or two... Next time Zookeeper, next time.
  17. They have been updated in the last hour. Hope for his sake that they just didn't get all the data in yet.
  18. What the heck happened to Zookeeper? DNF - hope nothing bad happened....
  19. I'm guessing it was not Miss Jen...I spent three years in Nelsonville. You were never short of Copenhagen - because even the girls had an extra can! ...and that's no lie
  20. Stop it, you're going to make Flex all weepy for a small burg called Buchtel, Ohio...the finest spring water this side of a mine seepage in Southern Ohio! Day or night you could drive up to these three steady streams of running water that were tapped right out of the hillside and fill up a jug. I think they eventually shut them down for "health reasons" or some BS. Nothing good ever lasts...
  21. I know this will sound crazy but... If the ranges can handle the match - why not allow the Handgun Nationals to rotate through the various Area clubs every few years? This would do wonders for boosting local participation (grass roots support!), allow folks to see big names that usually don't come to that Area, and maybe - just maybe - create an increase in positive attention to the organization and what it can do for a local area monetarily. Money into the local economies will do wonders for local government support of shooting sports. Pump thousands into a local economy and the local clubs may get more support for monthly matches, increased membership, etc.
  22. 105 degree temps - no thanks. How about John Shaw's place in Tunica, MS or the Blackwater range in VA? The only drawback to Blackwater is that they might be a little busy down there for a few years...and there are not a lot of hotels close.
  23. Can't get passed the fact that this country was so cool at one time that a responsible teen could bring a handgun to class and it wasn't on six different cable channels as "Terrorism in the Classroom!" ...note to self - slap a hippie from the 60's for destroying this country......
