  1. There are a number of 100-120 grain moly coated bullets available now that making power factor should not be an issue. I am getting 900+ ft/sec with a 118 gr Bear Creek bullet in my 6" Smith M16 with 2.6 gr of Clays and am not even trying to make PF just accuracy. John As a side note these loads have very very mild recoil and are very fun to shoot.
  2. I agree with Mike. In the old days of PPC revolvers it was not uncommon to have 2 detent balls installed for better lockup.
  3. All Expert/Master & High master PPC shooters use DA only. Especially important when 48/150 rounds fired are from the 50 yard line. The X ring is very small at 50 and matches are won or lost on X count. Forget SA and use DA only.
  4. Those long action M&Ps are very nice. I even have a bunch of parts for them in a box somewhere including hammers & triggers.

Yes I will accept the offer.

  8. Check the ICORE web site as more regional matches are listed.
  9. Actually I was concerned about a sudden heart stoppage.
  10. At one time I was a strong proponent of opening up IPSC revo to other revo variations but in retrospect I have changed my mind and think it should stay like it is. For those who want the other flavors there are ICORE and IDPA matches. Please get Carmoney a small asprin for under the tong and get him to the hospital for an EKG
  11. Actually I believe the clips use chem etch or wire EDM (more precise)
  12. I was there when this happened and Vic's gun handling was as good as it gets and like a trooper that he is, he got up and finished the stage. Good show.
  13. There were 95 shooters, great management and ROs, loads of fun & interesting stages and a generous prize table. One could ask for no more than that. Thanks to Dave, Chris and the rest who put on the show.
  14. It appears to be metal fatigue and it appears that this is not a steel frame.
  15. Thanks guys. I'm just an old gimp that does the best he can with my old equipment Bubber should remember I shot my first IRC using a cane 2 months after heel surgery, not my best showing.
  16. I use 3.3-3.4 gr of Clays with a Bear Creek RN moly coated as my ICORE load w/PF of 129000-130000 year after year at the IRC out of a 5" 627.
  17. Grip, position of the finger on the trigger, stocks all play important roles in shooting revolvers well. You need much patients and get advise on the range from revolver shooters
  18. Actually it is the extractor with ratchet. The star points I suppose are gotten at Starbucks when one gets their lattes but there are extractor arms in Smiths .
  19. I use the Weigand rear with a HiViz front but I checker the HiViz & cold blue to cut light reflection. There is an excellent aluminum cold black available from Brownells. As to wiggle, yes but it does not seem to impact bullet impact down range for me. I have this combo on all adj sight smiths.
  20. That would be legal and I shoot a M21 in 44 spl using HKS speed loaders. My load is minor and I have fun with it. I had a bunch of AR brass a couple of years ago and it worked great in my 625.
  21. If you use Starline brass get Hearthco clips for that brass.
  22. We were taught at the factory on the proper use of our Barrett file to fit long ratchets to match the shorter ones. There was a tool available to peen short ratchets but I used that as a last resort. I never recommend filing ratchets by anyone who has not been trained. Usually ratchets are cut uniformly at the factory but can wear unevenly do to yoke alignment, yoke barrel not being square, the bearing surface on the recoil shield not being square to the bearing surface on the ratchet, etc. A factory ratchet cutter is a target trigger with a steel bar welded to it and a cutting hand. Install in the frame with the cylinder stop installed along with the rebound & side plate/cylinder assembly, cut cut cut and you are done. Fitting revolvers is like watching cows being butchered, one is reluctant to have a burger for awhile.
  23. We have rattle snakes at our range on a regular basis and dispatched with ease as they are non paying guests.
  24. But they make you use speed loaders in IDPA except when 45ACP is used.
