  1. There 2 photos here http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=132423&view=findpost&p=1490976
  2. Open guns tend to be fairly violent with major of rounds. Tungsten Ross have been known to be brittle and break, or chip. I ran one in my G34 production gun, and mine cracked after 5k. The SS rods are much more reliable. Another reason why I didn't opt for tungsten as well. The LWD just barely scapes the cerakote off the comp as is, who knows, it might be enough deflection to crack a tungsten rod.
  3. The open gun was an afterthought and I already had the SS guide rods on hand. FYI: The guide rod only makes contact at the very bottom of the comp.
  4. Ahh, you might be able to hit up the inside of the comp with a dremel to give it some clearance.
  5. LWD: .224'' Brownells (supplied by Glockparts.com): .245''
  6. It was a blast pulling some G's. It was a real workout for my thighs and I'd like to say I'm in pretty decent shape. As cool as that was. I really enjoy running the B-52's. You always have someone to shoot the shit with and these engines stall a lot. So loud bangs + fire balls out the tail pipe = Fun times. If that was an F-15, that's looking like an engine change. Only got 2 engines up but you get the idea when all 8 is up and running.
  7. I'm a maintainer. But they only jet somebody's ever given me command of the controls was the F-15D, lol.
  8. Yes, it will. I'm running one now in a G17 and a G22 upper both Gen 3, and neither of mine are captured. Yep, it's a 3 port carver comp with gen 3 guide rod, but there's more to it. If your FDE Gen 4 is what you're gonna be using, than here's my advice. I have 2 different SS guide rods + adapter. The LWD guide rod +adapter is a different size than the one I purchased from Brownells. The LWD guide rod is a slightly smaller diameter and will allow the slide to cycle with the the screw removed. The guide rod setup from Brownell's has a larger diameter that did not allow the slide to cycle with the carver comp, even with the captured screw removed. It would make contact with the comp. So yes, I am using a Gen 3 guide rod uncaptured, but not all guide rods are created equal.
  9. It's an all metal construction, so it's probably a little more durable than the factory plastic/metal backplate. I've tried racking it as hard as possible and it hasn't broke or showed any signs of fatigue.
  10. Sure, it works as advertised! Haha. It is a lot tighter fitting than the factory plate, so there is very little play with it with no sharp edges. The bolts holding it hasn't sheared off yet, so that's good, lol. Other than that, it does what it's supposed to, relatively cheap and easy to install.

    OPEN GLOCKS

Slide ride here. It's easy for me to find the dot since I'm used to shooting pistols with iron sights. I can switch back and forth and they index the same with no learning curve.

    OPEN GLOCKS

Mako has those for about half the price.

    OPEN GLOCKS

It's a 3 port bobby carver comp that has the sides shaved and 45* cuts to match the slide profile.
  14. For a glock, try using the XD adapter. The glock adapter has a wider taper than the slide, so it doesn't align itself. The xd's adapter has a narrower slide and aligns itself. Might come in handy when you need to change battery.

    OPEN GLOCKS

    Just got my slide back
  20. I've got a 3.5 MOA DP on my G17. I've noticed that the glock mounting plate is wider than the slide and fits pretty loose. It'll be impossible to retain zero if you change battery. I tried it with the XD adapter and it fits much better. The adapter will actually center on the slide and have no gap, unlike the glock adapter. But, that was just a temp issue as my slides getting milled for the DP. Just a heads up.
  21. Right on, see you on the range sometimes!
  22. I use a ZEV on mine. I would use a Dawson ICE, but they're not available for the gen 4's yet. Nothing wrong with the ZEV though, just preference.
  23. I just got one recently. The only other race holster I've used before was a ghost. The Ghost was easier to draw for me because of it's ball detent mechanism. It took a couple days of just practicing draws with the racer to prevent it from getting hung up during the draw. Other than that, The racer is great. The gun is solid with no wobble when holstered. It's got great adjustment range. I don't see how it would click. The mechanism just rides on an angled track with no detent of any sort.
