  2. I use a hacksawed Lee standard die, as my Tanfoglio mags HATE oversized brass. The chamber is not the issue, its the feeding. I lube, then single stage pass through, deprime, prime then run through the Lee 1000. Not exactly speedy but it works the best.
  3. Limited Pro does not have the magwell, or the gold team safety, The Pro also has a shorter dust cover, different mag release, different trigger. Its a Production Gun. The Limited is a Limited division gun being single action with a magwell and a potentially high magazine capacity (I get 20 easily in my hennings' mags).
  4. American Select is clean and soft, just a little slower and tougher to make major. Minor loads that I have used: 4.3g AmSelect under 180 MG FMJ to 1.2" (long for my Tangolio limited gun). WAY softer than power pistol/231/titegroup. I can bump it up to 4.8g and get up to major PF, but thats loading long and may be over pressure for someone loading to 1.125" (sammi max) I have also used American Select for 45ACP loads, and have had very good results with cast 185's, but only in 4"+ barrels. And it needs a good crimp in the 45. without the Lee Factory Crimp Die the powder didn't ignite! (honest, the bullet went 3' and the powder spilled out the barrel)
  5. They are now available. One thing about Airsoft, the mfg's do small production runs and then NEVER make them again, so buy one or two now. They will probably run out and not be available soon.
  6. Thanks. I got the club packet last night. Yes, Flagstaff is overdue. I thought the Williams club would get affiliated, but so far I have not seen any activity at that club. And they are still 45min-1 hour away. I know that's not that far. Its the 3 hours to the Phx clubs that kills it for me, getting up at 3am to make by start time!
  7. Since I will use the national forest I can't charge to shoot, but I can take donations, and you bet I will! Props and targets are expensive, so I will do what I can to recover costs.
  8. Please Move to appropriate forum if this is inappropriate. I am starting a new USPSA club in Flagstaff, due to the lack of matches within an hour and a half's drive. I am looking for USPSA members willing to join Flagstaff Practical Shooters. From what I gather I need 10 members to be USPSA affiliated. The USPSA affiliation packet is in the mail. Right now, I will be hauling targets/stands/tables/props from my house to the Winona Pit shooting area for practices and matches. As it is USFS land, there will be no charge to shoot our match/practice. When our Flagstaff range is built, we may get to use it, but that is a few years out. If you are interested in joining the club and/or helping out with club/match duties please email me at Roberthamilton_98 @ yahoodot com. And thanks!
  9. This could easliy be on par with Glock/XD or AR15/AK47 type jousting. Bottom line is EITHER will perform up to GM standards, pick one and go for it.
  10. I typed before searching!! right now they are available everywhere on the interwebs.. do a quick search for tanfoglio airsoft and they are available for 130-150 from many sellers.
  11. So how do I get one? It would appear that it does exist, but I can't find one.
  12. I've called out "FINGER!!" before to experienced shooters even when I was not ROing the stage. When I am ROing a stage, I'm usually looking at the shooter the whole time, I could care less what targets are being hit, it's my job to make sure the shooter is following the safety rules above all else. Pistols are dangerous tools when handled carelessly or by beginners. It takes very little movement for a pistol to swing past the 180, to go over a berm, etc. If you are not ready to speak up about a safety violation, then grow a pair and come back when you are ready! Our sport would not survive without the constant devotion to safety. If you are all friends its ok to call the "FINGER", but that tact would not work with beginners or guys you don't know. Once they KNOW the rule, and you know they can handle it, call them on it at the time they are doing it. But I agree, the first time a private talk would be the best way to approach the beginning shooter. I think its a shame when a shooter who knows better, is allowed to continually break the rules, usually because nobody calls him out on it!
  13. I have a Limited and have shot a CZ TS. VERY different guns, and I think the Limited is a better gun for Limited Division. The magwell is bigger, it has a tunable trigger, and adjustable sights.
  14. I wear a $300 Titanium Solar 200m Seiko, that gains 1.5 seconds a month, has better night visibility than anything else and never needs a battery. Rolex doesn't even compete. I would love a Sphinx as a piece of art and even to shoot, but as a tool its too expensive at $3k. Like I said before make it $1999.99 and people would really consider them. Maybe they could farm out to Taiwan/China (like the swiss watch makers do) for some of the easier operations and "finish" them in Switzerland? I could care less is its 100% Swiss made. Even a "swiss made" watch can have significant steps done outside of Switzerland.
  15. Use the Stock II just to be different?!? They would all work fine and none would be a "disadvantage".
  16. I still have not heard anything either. Eric: I still want one!
  17. Yep, I feel like I should have brought up the rule violations to the MD (if I could find him), but I also know that it's THEIR match, not mine, and that it my prerogative to not go back. Whats troubling is that this is a VERY popular (and well exposed) range where I would expect more of a "proper" rule following match. But I will say that "local" rules, although prohibited in the USPSA rulebook, are quite common. What I've found is the Level1 (club) match will always have some quirk: like no safety area, or no RO at a particular stage, or other loose and fast type rules, or something more restrictive like no sight pictures etc. I figure that If I want a pure USPSA rule abiding experience, then I need to start my own club and do it! (I'm filing papers for my NEW club -Flagstaff Practical Shooters- very soon), and then People can bitch about my matches here too!
  18. Thats what I thought, too. And since you taught my RO class you are of course right!
  19. So this has bugged me for about a year. I was at a very popular range for a local (Level I) monthly USPSA match. There were problems that day which make me not want to go back, like no RO at the classifier stage, but that’s not what is sticking in my mind. On a Comstock stage was a disappearing target. Upon hitting a popper, the target (a USPSA Metric) was briefly exposed, then the no-shoot covering the target moved back in place, covering MOST of the target’s scoring area. When at rest, about 3" of the lowest part of the target (the D scoring area) was exposed. After the start buzzer, I fired a couple rounds, hitting the popper and activating the disappearing target. Before I could acquire the disappearing target, I got a jam. By the time I cleared the jam, of course the target was MOSTLY no longer visible (the target had gone through its entire movement and was then at rest). So, I ran closer to the target and put 2 in the exposed “D” scoring area. The RO was agast! Biggest reason I did this is because they were scoring MISSES on a disappearing targets, and I broke no fault lines or stage instructions. The RO was “going to DQ you, but because you jammed I’ll let it slide”.. upon I said that 1. You don’t score misses for disappearing targets unless there is some A zone at rest, and 2. I broke no rule by advancing to a small target and putting 2 scoring hits on it. True, the stage designer did not intend for it to be shot that way, but the scoring zone was hit cleanly and I did nothing out of the ordinary for that type of match. Then he went on about “failure to do right” and at that point I had to remind him that USPSA is not IDPA and that a shooter can’t be penalized for shooting freestyle and basically picking the best way to shoot the stage. I did this all with a smile on my face! And I was polite! And nothing came of it! I’m NOT BITCHING or complaining, but I’m questioning whether I was way off base? I shot the rest of the match and didn’t say anything about the other stage issues or scoring issues and had fun. There was no temper tantrum, no yelling, just a quiet discussion between me and the RO (who I know is a good RO, and quite experienced). What is your opinion?
  20. I've been in contact with Eric G via email, and we are still waiting for a model that can be imported into the USA. Every couple of months I ask if they are available, but so far none can be had for any price.
  21. So what are the effects of the conditions of the powder at time of the loading of the cartridge? I reload at less than 30% RH, so my cartridges will have less water vapor than someone loading at 90% RH. Has this been studied? I could theorize that the water vapor could either retard or enhance the powder burn.
  22. This gets asked over and over, and the consensus is that lead bullets will shoot fine out of a Tanfo polygonal barrel. This is what I have come to glean from the folks who actually own Tanfos and shoot lead through them. As usual, some who have zero first hand experience will tell you you can't do it.

    Freeing the Mind

Once your mind has registered the "mistake", its too late. While the goal may be to not allow your mind to dwell upon it, I think the ultimate goal is not let the mind even contemplate it. It goes back to what is called "beginners mind", which is when we were beginners and did not even know we had made a mistake. Its one of those paradoxes in life, how can we become a proficient beginner? Otherwise, we can strive to achieve a still mind. The analogy is the moon reflected in water. The water does not hold the reflection. The reflection does not linger upon the water. They interact, but do not pause.

    Practice

You have reminded me to continue zazen (sitting meditation). The best thing I ever learned in martial arts was how to breathe. I had a sensei that would tell us "how can you not fight (aikido) if you can not breathe!"
  25. airsoft law That's what I found. If its clear/transparent then the red tip is not needed. You don't actually think there would be something fun AND unregulated?
