  1. S&W 686 age and round count unknown, newer MIM gun w/lock. Dry fired it a few time the other nite and discovered the firing pin was stuck forward. I figured the spring broke or other wise not working correctly. Ended up putting a new FP in and fixed the problem. Old FP looked good, no burrs or anything I could see so I swapped it back. Same results as before so I swapped the new FP back in and it ran 100% dry firing. Why did it do this? Thanks
  2. I'll shoot about anything S&W 10-10 S&W 386- really like this for SC S&W 627 iron S&W 627 CMore S&W 617 4" CMore S&W 617 6" iron Ruger 10/22 iron Ruger 10/22 CMore, think I'm quicker with irons Ruger Mk III iron, going to switch to a BuckMark soon Ruger Mk III w/CMore
  3. Only one I don't want. Put a CMore on the one I'm keeping, but need to work on the trigger and make it a little better.
  4. Picked them up last Saturday. Will take the one with aftermarket parts out for a spin this Saturday. I checked the sights after I got it and was hitting POA at 45'. Found the one with bobbed hammer and aftermarket parts last or I would of passed on one of the others.
  5. I've shot some fairly large local matches and been the only shooter with a revolver so for sure I'd dominate Revolver Division even if I was loading from drop pouches. AK is right, if you enjoy shooting the 625 or any other pistol do it and have fun.
  6. Was shooting 160 Bayous and just bought a case of 160 BBI to try in Short Colt. For Steel I use 38 spl and 95gr. Bayous.
  7. I'd guess I'll keep my 625 and 1955 forever, not sure how much I'll shoot them but I'll have them. I have a ammo can of 45 ammo so at some point I need to shoot the 625 and burn up the ammo. It's loaded with some free 185 SWCs i got years ago and won't run 100% in my Glocks.
  8. I bought two last week, 1001$ and 1100$ both 5" PC guns. Hated paying more for PC guns but wanted the 5" barrel. Got 4-5 I need to sell to make room for the two I bought. I'm keeping my 625 and 1955 even if I never shoot them again.

    38 SC Crimp

Found a dies set from Lee, figure it'll have roll crimp seater, dies will be home before me. I still can't figure out why I have a problem now by changing bullet makers. Thanks for the help to all who replied.

    38 SC Crimp

Short Colt, I looked for roll crimp die and only thing I seen from Lee was FCD. RCBS list 38 SC but only as special order and 200$. I'll be home in 3 weeks and will try loading a few and see how they work.

    38 SC Crimp

That's a thought, suppose to be .358s. One thing I think might be contributing is the seating depth I've been using put the bullet in the case to the lube groove. My old bullets didn't have groove for lube. i seated them a little deeper to get the grease groove below the case mouth. Frustrating that nothing has changed but the bullets and I increased seating depth just a hair.

    38 SC Crimp

What are you using to crimp 38SC? I've developed a problem of bullets pulling during recoil. Not sure why it's started other than I'm using a new bullet I've never loaded before. I'm using 38 Super FCD, Right now I'd really like to try a roll crimp but can't find a die that'd work. Thanks
  13. I like 5" more or less on my guns. Adding length and/or weight seems to slow me down on the transitions. For a comped gun I like 4" barrel plus the comp length.
  14. You need to allow for the dropped clip during a reload like was said above. You know it's just a matter of time before it happens. I carry 8 plus one in the gun. We had a 50 round stage last week and it felt like all I was doing was reloading. One thing always screws me up is a miss and then have to do a reload to make it up then reload again so I have a full gun going to the next array.
  15. Get a G30, you can shoot all divisions except the .380 division with the G30 you'd be competitive in Major Sub, Sub, and Heavy Metal. Using the G17 you can Shoot AmCiv, Master Stock, Competition, and Unlimited.
  16. Was great match and great weather other than a cold start to the day on Saturday.
  17. Might be a 14yo girl other wise no women, very small club. On the plus side she does know and has shot with several of the men there. Besides being safe an going slow I worry about her getting too much to do and remember and feeling like she can't keep her head above water. Thanks for the replies.
  18. I could of shot Texas or the Gator Classic in LA. and decided to go with the Texas state steel. Guess that didn't work out well for me.
  19. Think I have my wife interested in trying USPSA for the first time. She's an experienced shooter and has shot a lot of competition, GSSF and Steel Challenge. Any tips to help her along at her first match without stressing her out? She'll know some of the shooters form steel matches and the local match is pretty low key and simple stage set ups. I want her to have a good time and be safe, not worry about time or scores. I know she gets stressed when ROs think she doesn't know how to operate her pistol and try to help. Thanks in advance.
  20. No idea what it's like there but I'm signed up for it. I figure even if the match sucks it's still better than going to work.
  21. When I tested the loads I angled the muzzle downward at 45* to move the powder forward to take that into consideration.
  22. If this hits on a search I ended up with 4.2gr. of Bullseye. Started with 3.5 and the primer backed out and never reseated. 4.2 is loud but next to zero recoil.
  23. Titegroup with 147s in 9mm has given me the best results.
  24. Hard to say what my favorite is without knowing the application. I like MG, Bayou, Precession, and Missouri bullets depending on what cartridge I'm shooting and game I'm playing.
  25. Wanting to make a load to try for Steel with a .38 Spl case and 95gr. Bayou Bullet. I'm thinking Bullseye 3.0 to 3.2 grains. Anyone with experience loading this or similar?
