For the life of me I can't figure out the best place to locate the red dot. My Buckmark has a 5" rail. If I place it toward the front, dot is easier to find but window is smaller. In the rear, window is larger but dot is elusive sometimes. What's the consensus?

Bought a Holosun 515GM-GR. Was sent a 515CM-GR. (solar). Installed the battery and nothing. Didn't power up. Replaced the battery. Nothing. Arranged for return and exchange. Was sent the correct model (Has battery access on side under cap) Installed battery and turned on. Nothing. Wouldn't power up. Sent it back. Changed battery. Nothing Am I doing something wrong? Is there a super duper hidden master switch on these things? I really want this dot. Considering looking for a used one on ebay.
