  1. This is a hobby. Why do some wish to rule it to death??? IMO there is no loophole. It is up to the shooter to determine how he wants to shoot a stage. There should be minimal rules for safety and a minimal outline of the basics nothing more. Part of the game is to take those rules and plan your strategy within those rules. The rules should not dictate a shooters strategy. If for example Micah wants to activate the target after he shoots it that should be entirely up to him. Everyone else also has the same option. Personally I activated it then shot it. Was I at a disadvantage to Micah or anyone else that shot it in a similar manner?? Maybe, maybe not. In this example Micah could have shot that stage wearing a blindfold with his right hand taped to his butt and he probably still would have beat me. The point is it doesn’t bother me one bit. I am there to have a good time. To me learning how to “game” a stage is part of the challenge. Take all that away because someone wants to dictate every action through rules, rules and more rules and you will kill this sport.
  2. You guys certainly did a great job pulling this one off especially considering the weather related obstacles you encountered along the way.
  3. It is both. The two need to mesh up. They don't. And, frankly...once the stage is on the ground and running...it doesn't matter. It is then a rules problem, for sure. It's FUBAR...has been for years...lets fix the damn thing. Explain it to me --- why is it a problem if I choose to take harder shots, to potentially gain a time advantage? What's not freestyle about that? Why would you want to change it? Where's the problem? The problem is that a couple people have decided the game should only be played the way they see fit.
  4. Wow Matt sorry to hear that!! I know you shot it faster than I did and I had a time of 9.38
  5. I agree. The rule should be clarified and this should be a DQ. NROI we are here not to parse the rules to DQ shooters. It isn't a game. As a new RO and a new shooter (you are both), were your actions pushing the DQ at the Indiana Sectional warranted? You didn't push-you shoved and shoved and shoved to DQ the shooter. You were wrong. Dead wrong. Law student or not-you impacted others in an adverse way. NROI is not a license to look for creative ways to DQ shooters. Shame on you!!! I agree. It was a pimpy call and was made to assert new found authority. To DQ someone and then recommend they take it to arbitration because it will "probably be reversed" is a slap in the face to a new shooter, to any shooter. Simply pulling the shooter to the side to make them aware of such a questionable violation would have been the fair sportsman approach to the call. By telling them it will be reversed in arbitration then you know it was a bogus call and a big waste of time for everyone involved. IMO, the CRO and RO should be suspended. Yea, it was a slap in the face of every competitor there when the CRO and RO decided to take it upon themselves to make up rules as they saw fit. Activist CRO/ROs have no place here. This is a game 99% of us play for fun. If this is allowed to go without any punishment it sets a bad precedent for our sport.

I agree Woody, as a witness to the event it was clear (hey they didn't try to hide it) that there was a personal agenda in play. The sad part is the kid they decided to play their game with was shooting only his fourth match and they seriously screwed him up for the rest of match. Quite frankly I think you two owe him his match fee.
  7. Chris, what exactly is that makes this dangerous in your mind??
  8. I agree. The rule should be clarified and this should be a DQ. If that is a DQ then you will have to DQ just about every Single stack and production shooter since they have their fingers under the muzzle when starting a stage with hands relaxed at sides.
  9. My nephew shot my Randy Lee prepped SP-01 Tactical at the match. It was only his fourth match and he finished 36th in production with a 2nd place on stage 8 and 8th place on stage 10.
  10. I have now had two weeks to play with my RM holster. Mine is for the SIG X5. So far I really like it. The draw is really smooth and the holster holds the X5 nice and secure. I don't have any problem hitting my knuckles on the back edge of the holster or interference from the tension screw. Although I see how you might hit your knuckles on the back edge. I think it would be better if the back corner was more rounded instead of a sharp corner. I assume it is shaped the way it is so that it will provide proper coverage of the trigger guard on all the different guns. But at least for the X5 there doesn't appear to be a reason for the corner sticking out. The serrated locking lever is the only thing about the holster that I definitely will change. A smooth lever would be better IMO. I am either going to dremel this one smooth or get one of the slim levers when I order a revolver insert (once it is available). And although I think it is a pointless demonstration, the holster will hold my 45oz X5 in the holster while upside down. And I don't have to have the tension screw really cranked down to do it. Even with the tension set this high the draw is still pretty smooth. Now of course without the lock engaged it will come out of the holster if you shake it while upside down.
  11. k.. so you the older internal extractor. that is whole other ballgame. They run great when they run but if they aren't tensioned just right they can be a real pain in the rear. If you can't get it lined out give Bruce a call he might be able to walk you through a fix on the phone or you could send the slide to him and he or Roy should be able to fix you up for a reasonable price.
  12. Did you replace the extractor spring as well?? It should hold a loaded round pretty snug like this. What recoil spring are you using?? At 2500 rounds you would be closing in on the 3500 recommended replacement point for a factory spring and in my experience wolff springs are pretty fatigued by the time you reach 1500-2000. I run a 14lb wolff in my X5 AR but change it every 1000-1500 rounds. I would try a new recoil spring for sure. And maybe Bruce Gray will see this and add his wisdom.
  13. GHOST won't work with the carver mount. The only one I know that will work is the modified CR Speed holster that Bobby sells.
  14. I just got a set of the pre-cut tru grips for SIG. I ordered them about 3 weeks ago got them last week.
  15. Forgot to post a pic of how my VHoldR is mounted.
  16. 8 15/16" x 6" x 1 5/8" with a +1/16" tolerance.
  17. I plan on being there this weekend. This weekend is the friends of NRA match so all the shooters get a chance at winning a Henry 22 rifle. I have to work a 12hr shift Friday night so my attendance depends on how I feel when I get off work Saturday morning.
  18. Have you reshaped the ejector yet??? It took about 10 mins with a file to get both of my SP-01s to eject out to the right instead of up and over my head. Now back on topic. I use a Vholdr camera mounted upside down on my Sordins. I mount it upside down because that puts the lens at the same level as my eyes. Vid 1 This is a stage at my local club. This one is from the POV of the camera on my right side. Here is the same run from the left side POV. Vid 2 I'll take a pic of how I have the cameras mounted tomorrow and post it. My cameras are the older standard resolution models from VHoldR. I am thinking of getting one of the newest high def versions similar to MemphisMechanic's camera.
  19. I should have my DAA RM for my SIG X-5 tomorrow. They tried to deliver it today but I wasn't home. I am interested to see how it works out. Bigpops, what part of the block are you busting your knuckles on??
  20. Since part of that ruling got tossed in the massive interpretation from 2009, I'm not sure the rest of it stands. Asking Amidon is probably the only way to get a straight answer.... Agreed, but to me it makes sense that the "external modification" restriction would still stand. The 09 interpretation does toss out this part IMO "as long as they are dimensionally the same as the original magazine for that model gun? In other words, you may not use a Glock 33 round mag in an approved Glock gun, regardless of only loading 10 rounds in it" Maybe I am totally out to lunch on this but I still see it as an illegal mod.
  21. Title: Aftermarket magazines in Production Division Created: 8/22/07 Updated: 7/31/08 Effective: 8/07/08 Rule number: Appx D4 Spec Applies to: Pistol Ruling authority: John Amidon Status: Released Question Can I use any after market magazine in my gun for Production? Also, may I grind off part of the base pad on my S&W M&P? Ruling After market magazines are allowed in Production, as long as they are dimensionally the same as the original magazine for that model gun? In other words, you may not use a Glock 33 round mag in an approved Glock gun, regardless of only loading 10 rounds in it. Grinding on the magazine base pad, would be an external modification and not allowed, the magazine when inserted, is a functioning part of the gun and the base pad is external. It looks like it is not allowed in USPSA since it would be considered an external modification.
  22. well we aren't much to look at.......well there is alot of us to see, but not much to look at. Speak for yourself. I'm kinda cute!
  23. The P225/P6 is a compact version of the P220 9mm. The P6 pre-dates the P226 by about 10 years. Magazines are not a problem. Any P225 magazine will work in the P6 since it uses a heel magazine release. Since the P225 is still available new so are the magazines. Nice little guns IMO. I often carry a P225 in a VM II.
  24. I get 24 reloadable with 2 mags and 23 reloadable with 1 mag using the Taylor Freelance basepads and springs.
