  1. I bought a used 1.1-4x a few years ago. Love the reticle, I wish all scopes had it. Glass is clear. I had been warned it had been to the factory for repair, but it worked fine for a while. Then, something went wrong and it loses zero...on every shot. So I guess another trip to the factory, not sure it is worth the expense.
  2. I was looking real close at Rudy's, but apparently the inserts only correct to -7 and I am just beyond that. BTW, I never saw it on the website. Their print catalog at the optician had the info.
  3. I was checking zeroes with different ammos in an M1 rifle for the Texas Multigun matches, but at the end of the session switched to an LR308 with a JP trigger. I KNOW there is a big difference but one to the next reminded me how huge that difference is. Lee
  4. If it is the same as last year you will shoot all 3 days (only till mid day sunday). No round counts yet and a link to the area hotels can be found on the match website. Same 2.5 days of shooting as last year. Starting point for round count is "lots". I will say there is no buckshot required, and as the rules are currently written, buckshot is not allowed...oops, it does not say that, it says: "#4 LEAD SHOT or smaller". Not sure if we will edit that, but birdshot is what we expect. As written, use of 00B is subject to DQ. As for hotels, not sure where the link on the website is; there is not a match hotel, but any of the major places in Cedar Park or Georgetown would be ok.
  5. A little something to see at the match: Yes, at the range, trip to Fredericksburg not necessary.
  6. Ok, per the MD, WW2 holster is same as for Tactical/Limited/Tac Heavy. Updated rules attached. 2012-TXMG CHAMP RULES-Rev2.pdf
  7. Have you tried to load the rifle from all the carriers? I load an M1 right handed and those left-ward clips might be tricky to grab. I moved some holders behind the holster to make room in front which means I am learning weak-hand shotgun loading also since there is not room for clips and shell carriers on the right. Good question. I poked the MD. Might be Tactical, but might be more like USPSA Single Stack, which is a little more restrictive.
  8. Good to know. I tried that with the 6-rd with not much luck. I wonder about the 4x4? I could get me some of those and if they hold 2 clips, more better.
  9. At $20, it would end up costing $80 to run the match, more if you want to carry extra rounds (lets see...4*8=32 plus 8 in the gun = 40 rounds). A bit steep for me, for one match, but I might bite. A double or triple holder might work. Shotgun for me is a 590, which I need to plug. However, for cool factor, I can attach a bayonet.
  10. Maybe your stages need more rounds? Although I do not like shooting an array twice or more just to get the round count up. Standards for long guns always are talked about, and generally are handgun stages converted to long gun. Might not be a bad way to toss in a speed stage. Well, there are some other options for Texas Multigun WW2 rifles. Semi-auto BAR which is 20 rounds or M1919 which is as many as you want to link. Technically, the bolt-action Enfields are legal, and those hold 10.
  11. Not specifically allowed, but feel free to petition the Match Director. Never know, might work. However, the vision is more "full power rifle", not pistol caliber carbine.
  12. Different times I tried different formulations of Glucosamine/Chondroitin and they did nothing. What helped was getting exercises from physical therapists and doing them. Good to know about the sulfate/HCL thing. If I still have the bottles, I will look. I wonder about controls when someone gets relief. If a treatment helps, was any other therapy or behavior modification included? "Hey doc, it hurts when I do this". Reply, "Then don't do that". Exercise, no exercise, targeted exercise (which sucks but helps me most). Heat, ice, NSAIDs. I have avoided one activity completely while the PT kicked in but I will be on the tractor this winter - bouncing around on that sucker will be the ultimate test and I just about have to stand on the clutch to get it to disengage. Lee
  13. 480 yards +/- 10 or so, probably no farther. And very few at that distance. A few from 125 to 480, most are <125 yds.
  14. Also, unless you are exempt, you need to shoot some rounds at a match, but again a USPSA match counts. Do it. Now. It can take some time because they get backed up so get on it. Lee
  15. How are you planning on carrying it? It looks like it's about the right size, maybe add more straps to turn it into a chest rig? Please try whatever rig you have at a match, and remember there will be stages with all 3 guns. To make room for enblocs on my right (strong) side, I am turning myself into a weak-hand shotgun reloader to move the shotshell trays to my weak (left) side. Side note: You will not need 12 clips for any stage at this match. Not sure what the max count per stage is, but it is way under 96. That is too much reloading for the max stage times we have to run. Of course, never know, Sheldon may give WW2 division more time. The club matches are not a perfect representation of the big match, but I have only needed more than 2 reloads once, and the MD acknowledged that stage would not work unmodified for WW2 division. Patrick, he reads the forum, but you might shoot the MD an email and ask. There are some shotguns out there with 10/22 sights, too. Lee
  16. Great looking setup. Not to be a party pooper or anything, but I don't think the Remington rifle sights are a go for WWII division. 6.5.3 WWII Shotgun b. Electronic, optical and rifle-style sights are prohibited I am currently signed up for heavy optic, but WWII is sounding like more fun each day. The rifle sights are not allowed on your WW2 division shotgun, per the rules. Feel free to appeal to the MD. However, he is the one who put that in there. Regardless, if those rifle sights sit on a rifled slug barrel, then the barrel is a significant disadvantage when shooting birdshot at plates, and that is what most of the shotgunning will be, so you might want to replace it.
  17. Not answered last time, does 308 division allow a scope or is it irons? Also, how about a hotel? Thinking about bringing the wife and staying a few days extra. Corpus is not the garden spot of February, but we could use a vacation with just us (and let me go for a day ). I may want to invest in a room on Padre Island, but Corpus may be one of those cities with neighborhoods to avoid. Lee
  18. Question about divisions. Does 308 division allow a scope or is it irons? Also, "open squads" to me means I show up and wander around and it is up to me to be sure I shoot all the stages in one day. Is that the case, or something else? Thanks, Lee
  19. The drive from Dallas DFW airport is interstate hwy most of the way and is only about 10 miles farther than from IAH. Of course, the drive from IAH passes through Brenham (Blue Bell ice cream and Ammo to Go) so that is a plus. Lee
  20. The "factory ammo" thing is so when you call DSA, they do not blame the ammo at first. Your reloads are probably better, but try factory ammo to get that out of the way with them.
  21. First, the FAL has adjustable gas. http://www.dsarms.com/text/faq5.htm#10 Second, try factory ammo, something plain and generic, like American Eagle. Then call DSA with the results of the factory ammo. Give them a chance to support their product. There is also: accuracy expectation, which says 3 to 4 MOA. However, if the rifle is built with a new DSA barrel, not surplus, the accuracy should be better. My STG58 (surplus parts) is about 3 MOA on its best day with surplus RG and SA ammo. To be sure, the scope is ok, and the mount is secure? Shoots the same with iron sights?
  22. The website is under development. Regardless, those are the 2011 rules and stages. The 2012 rules and stages are also under development but the current rules are attached to post #162. Probably better connections to the Austin airport but Killeen is also an option. Lee
  23. That would be cool , and how much of a Karma thing it would be for the Dogs in Heaven to be responsible for our care & treat us the way we treated them Rainbow Bridge
  24. Assume yes, until posted here. However, there will be a wait list. And if you just miss getting in this far ahead of the match, you will probably get in.
