  1. After your 4286 posts, Gun Geezer seems appropriate. Mr. Weak Hand is more timeless! I guess I will have to finish in the top 20 at a major match before you let up on the pistol grippers. So what "major matches" do I have to shoot to get some pistol grip respect? I guess i will have to drive 13 hours to MN next summer.
  2. Damm Mr WeEk Hand, I got stomped on here while I was off the blog and working this week. Making fun of spelling now, you must be bored. Good points on the pistol grip in Euro land though! Oh' and I'm 46, anit no spring chicken. "You old farts" was a sign of respect for you shot gunners that have all the experience and wisdom.
  3. My only point to earlier was that the top shooters probably never tried the weak hand LOAD_TWO when they were shooting pistol grips. Two and Four loading didn't really come on strong until 5 years ago. You old farts were all strong hand and week hand grab four and stuff'em. The new shooters ought to give it a try (also so when the ATF shows up at a match, I'm not the only one going to jail! ) I know Mr. Weak Hand is not going to change and I'm not going to change, but some of the newer shooters looking for an edge??
  4. I think within the last few years it makes more sense to look at the weak hand pistol grip flip because it fits so well with the two-load and four-load. It is an advantage with a ten round tube on loading 2 at a port-arms start and it SEEMs like I am quicker on run-loading. It SEEMS like have more control of the shotty. Besides Taran Bulter (i dont know if he is still using, I have not seem him at a shotty match lately), I don't see any other top shooters using the pistol grip, and they probably won't because that is a huge switch, why re-train their muscle memory? BUT if you are a new shooter and you have a strong right arm, could be a winner. The load to sight/target aquisition recovery (from load to bang) MIGHT be a little quicker also. These are my observations, not facts.
  5. Since Steel1911 showed you the strong hand, here is the WEAK HAND LOAD-TWO Pistol Grip Flip. Yes I cherry picked this one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GQKBHlh74s
  6. OUCH! It's just science and physics. Hard to argue that. (think about a 10 lb gun vs. a 2 lb gun, a 30" barrel vs a 4" barrel,...etc.) The shooter is the most important part of the gun. I get beat by guys with 21"-28" barrels all the time.
  7. I have rifle sights on my 18.5" M2 barrel, with a front fiber optic installed. My opinion is everyone shooting any major matches needs a rear sight of some kind for any length of barrel.
  8. Go for the 26" if you are hunting! Better wing shooting with longer barrel.
  9. Earlier discuss on the short barrel and matches.... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=195098&hl=%2Bspread#entry2162926
  10. Yes, but this is magnified as the shot gets further down range. Think about clays and no-shoots. Works both ways. Starting 4-8" sooner is the difference between broken clay or knocking over a no-shoot with a bad sight picture. .1 second making sure you get a hit. Longer barrels pattern better with same chokes. I shot at the Versamax match last weekend and Fortin said he used a Lt Mod the whole match, 28" barrel, no way I could have done the same thing with my 18.5" with the same choke (he got more of the 1-1/8oz on the steel than I would have with the same lt-Mod choke). I do have to change chokes more often but have a big advantage on closer steel, clays and run/shoot stages. This might be a good experiment next range day with different barrel lengths and distances. I will try to post.
  11. Load Two belt from Chameleon. $120 ish shipped. Holds 20-24 rds. Only bad thing it will take about 3 weeks to ship from Europe.
  12. Driving from Lexington Ky, leaving Thursday unless someone wants to share a ride and split up driving all day Friday. Let me know if anyone is going that way. 859 420-7810. Greg
  13. Just practice in basement. $30 will buy you some plaster or cement.??
  14. M1 vs M2. The only real difference is Comfortech stock, will not fit on M1. The m2 barrel with M2 forearm will fit on the M1 but not vice versa. Great gun the M1. Put a good recoil pad on it and used the money you saved to pay a good gunsmith to get it 3 gun ready. I shot my M1 at the last major shotgun match.
  15. Hotter loads will sometimes give Shell carrier time to align better as it enters the barrel.
  16. If it is sticking on the right side at the extractor groove, file a dull angle on the extractor groove. A lot of plastic shells catch on that. (especially if you have a modified lifter/carrier that is not perfect). Feel the throat for sharp rough edges that might catch shells.
  17. It was a Benelli M1 Tac pg stock. About 2 hour shop time.
  18. We customized a M1 pistol grip on my VersaMax. Works great. No more recoil on a Versa.
  19. I'm with Pat and Mark. You might get to shoot them at a local match and get an advantage with a clay speed shoot, but most the major matches will have a spoiler target at 15+ yards. Trying to get a twopher with a spreader would just make me look back at a clay that would slow me way down. Maybe on the last two clays to save a reload (you could look while grabbing your matchsverz shell).
  20. I wish I had something to show...I've never been in a 3-Gun match and don't have anything other than a standard Benelli M1S90 with a 21 inch barrel, just like it comes from the factory... Maybe one day soon though. Nalajr GREAT gun the M1. I have been shooting shotgun for years and the shotty I am taking to the Benelli match in 2 weeks is a M1 s90. Get a Taran lifter/ tube/ and have a decent gun smith enlarge the loading port - ready to rock!
  21. -Custom VersaMax form Accurate Armory Ky - brand new Vinci Tactical - my trusty M1
  22. Thumbs up for Taran lifter/carrier on my trusty m1. Prevented my extractor groove stoppages. Running 100% with his reduced recoil spring and lifter. I have also worked with Taran in the past and he always comes through.
