  5. modified was always more popular than revolver in IPSC, i think it would be in USPSA also
  6. they do 18 total for a nationals is it worth taking up space where the other division's were full and had people waiting
  7. Really? She made Master by requesting a class increase. Some folks may doubt that, but it's easy to check. Pull up her classification, and look at her Limited scores. On 10/28/08 there is a classifier just shy of 72% that is coded as "B" meaning it's more than 5% below your current classification. In that case, it means the shooter has to be a Master, because it would count for an A. Now, look at the rest of her scores, before 10/28/08, and note that there is only ONE score above 85%. There is simply no way she could have made Master with those scores....other than by formal request....which you can't do for GM. Regardless of how she made M, she definitely just came in 12th at open nationals. AFAIK that's the best any female shooter has done at nationals. Nationals is a 3 day event lets wait till all the days are complete this is just day 1
  8. I don't know what you're getting at. is the target stick a piece of range equipment or competitor equipment?
  9. But the range equipment didn't fail, the shooter shot it and broke it. is the target stick a part of a competitor's equipment?

    overlays

due to other recent threads have range officals been using overlays incorrectly per the rules? On looking at this rule it is saying that overlay's are to be used only for determining the scoring zone of a hit on a target not to determine if there are 2 hits in the same hole.

    Doubles?

Really 2 hits in the A zone isn't anywhere close to 2 bullets going through the same hole. We aren't talking about figure 8's we are talking about 1 hit and a miss(or a so called perfect double) espically when you had 1 second first 2 shots on a 15 yard classic target and then a strong hand only shot while holding up an activator.

    Doubles?

Doubles? I think in the current age of shooting there are too many doubles at major matches. Both given out and requested. During a recent match a shooter shot a 20 yard target on the move walking and was trying to get a double where there was only one hole on the target. Another where it was raining with bags on the targets, a shooter requested 3 different single hole targets that they are was doubles. The RM granted the second one a double. On the third target come to find out the shooter had an A and C but the C was hidden from the bag and he was trying to get the A called a double till the RO uncovered the target. How do we solve this issue? Here is my opinion on this. It all starts with the shooter most know when they fire a miss and are lying to them self and trying to bully the RO then CRO then RM into calling it a double. The RO needs to call what he see and let the shooter dispute it to the CRO. Then the CRO needs to call what he sees not what the shooter says “it looks a little long on the bottom”. If the competitor continues to dispute the target will get pulled at this point the whole squad should be in unison be little the competitor and not letting him live with his choice of pulling the target. Now the RM comes up and needs to take into consideration where the target was shot from and what angle the bullet impacted the target. You can’t call a long hole a double if they shot it at a great angle. If you have to get your magnifying glass out to see two holes you are making yourself see two holes where there is one hole. If you compete at the local level and are awarding doubles to shooters just cause of who they are or how much they bitch you are doing a disservice to that competitor because when they go to a major and shoot they expect to get doubles even though they miss the target and it slows the match down even more than people make ready procedure’s. RO’s stand up for your call, call what you see and then move on. CRO’s also call what you see and then it is on the competitor to request the RM to make the final call from there. I am not saying disregard the overlays but you can look hard and long enough at the same hole and make it into more than one radius. RM’s if you keep giving the competitors the call they will keep asking for them. This is definite time waster for the match’s to continue with the current procedure. I don’t know how to fix this maybe you have the perfect way and it should be implemented by the shooting sports organizations. This comes down to each competitor owning what they shot. Not being little babies trying to bully the volunteer help and get a score they didn’t earn. This also comes into play when you see your score sheet and it doesn’t have the right time on it you argue till you have to reshoot the stage and get a correct score.
  13. I agree, and its another reason that USPSA should be more actively promoting the sport to women. We have some remarkably talented women in USPSA, but there are far too few of them. What are your ideas to USPSA to promote them more?
  14. By earning the GM card through classifers isn't that exactly what they did reach 95% or above efficiency? That is the system we use. You can always create a new classification system that USPSA can use. BTW there is only one paper GM that i know of all others have earned it at that current time should we start taking it away them if they are out of the game or have other priorities?
  15. 10.2.1 A competitor who fires shots while any part of their body is touching the ground or while stepping on an object beyond a Shooting Box or a Fault Line, or who gains support or stability through contact with an object which is wholly beyond and not attached to a Shooting Box or Fault Line, will receive one procedural penalty for each occurrence. However, if the competitor has gained a significant advantage on any target(s) while faulting, the competitor may instead be assessed one procedural penalty for each shot fired at the subject target(s) while faulting. No penalty is assessed if a competitor does not fire any shots while faulting. 10.2.3
