  1. I've shot tons of Hi-Tek coated bullets from Bayou, BBI and SNS and haven't experienced any build up. Are you sure it is the coating and not lead? Pull a few bullets and see if you are scraping the coating while seating or cutting it with the crimp. If you're overcrimping or using something like a Lee FCD it can undersize coated bullets which is a common cause of leading.
  2. For the 2 minutes per match I'm actually shooting I put on a regular baseball hat and muffs. The rest of they day I just wear plugs.
  3. Tilley LTM6 Airflow for me. I can stuff it in my range bag and it pops right back to shape, and when it gets filthy chuck it in the washing machine and let it air dry and it looks like new.

    TS rear sight moving

I just installed a new Dawson .215x.110 front and once I have things zeroed with that I'm going to try the peening/staking method on the rear. The rest of my TS is so ghetto it should fit right in.

    TS rear sight moving

That's the thing... I have to clamp it in a vice an beat the hell out of it to get it to budge at all, yet it somehow magically moves all on its own. As TallGuy put it... pretty infuriating, especially when you figure out it has shifted when all of a sudden you're hitting 3" right at 10 yards.

Had yours started to wander or did you do it as a preventative?

    TS rear sight moving

The stock fixed rear sight in my TS keeps shifting right. The first time I noticed it I drifted it back and reset the set screw. It moved again so I pulled it and degreased it, filled the recess under the set screw with JB weld, put red loc-tote in the dovetail, reinstalled the sight, and set the set screw while the epoxy was still soft. That held for about 1000 rounds. What next? Have it drilled for a pin? Silver solder? Tack weld?
  8. I use an Arredondo polymer fixed loop belt keeper on the overlapping ends of the belt, and use the velcro wrap around keeper on the opposite side.
  9. Its not so much about the raw time as the flexibility. I like to run grip tape on the slide, but that doesn't work with kydex. I'd like the gun positioned a little further forward on my belt than it is currently, but the BT/BOSS combo won't allow me to adjust that angle to keep the grip more/less perpendicular to the axis of my shoulders. I also have a relatively "high" waist / short torso, so it feels like I'm drawing into my armpit before the muzzle clears the kydex. Plus, I just don't like the Blade-Tech shell. I'll be replacing it with something... it might just be another kydex shell from RHT to pair with the BOSS, but if I think the race holster has some advantages if I can find one that doesn't bind.
  10. I quite agree. I replaced my Blade-tech for a Super Ghost. I did not succedd in getting a good tight fit for my TS .40.I did have two gun drops on two concurrent matches. While due to latching issues, I found my confidence lacking when factoring in the extreme looseness. I finally switched (at great expense) to the Ernie Hill/Giga Rubas. The key difference is the ability to custom fit the holster to the gun. It is now tight and secure. .02 I've been looking the Guga Ribas as well and do like the custom fit aspect of it. Have you ever had any binding issues with it on the draw stroke?
  11. It annoys me that my $50 Blade-Tech is wobbly, it would REALLY annoy me if a $150 holster was wobbly. For folks using the WSM II, you're just using the "Universal" fit model?
  12. I'm looking to replace my current Blade-Tech / BOSS setup and hoping for some input from shooters using a Ghost "The One" holster with a Tactical Sport. How is the fit and how do you like it? How forgiving (or not) is it of a slightly off axis draw stroke? The only other race holster I have experience with is the DAA RaceMaster for a Glock and I didn't care for it due to binding. Anything less then a straight up and out stroke caused it to bind, and I don't mean it caused some drag/resistance to pull through, I'm mean dead-stop bind. Any input is appreciated.
  13. I've had two different causes of this on my 550, both described here: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=223563&p=2493917
  14. 1.135 with TC and RN profile coated bullets with no problems.
  15. Let us know how you like the RHT please. I want to replace my BT as well.
  16. Can't go that long in a TS.
  17. I run my TS at 1.135. No feeding issues with either RN or TC profile coated bullets.
  18. Red Hill Tactical (http://redhilltactical.com) and Longs (http://www.lsholster.com) both make kydex TS holsters. No experience with either as neither were available when I bought my BT, and to be honest I've read of poor fit complaints with both of those as well.
  19. I've never owned a Blade-Tech holster that I didn't need to take a heat gun and dremel sanding drum to. I won't buy their products unless there is no other viable alternative.
  20. Depending on what part(s) your looking for benstoegerproshop.com sells parts.
  21. Shoot when called and take my lumps, and have a plan to be better prepared for the next match, whether that means arriving early to walk the stages, helping with setup, or whatever.
  22. I started wearing UA heat gear long sleeve shirts last year after discovering some skin cancer. I don't find it to provide any kind of performance improvement but it is very comfortable in the heat and provides some peace of mind, though I still wear sun block under it.
  23. Lol, embarrassed that grip tape never even occurred to me. Glad I asked. Thanks.
  24. For folks that are using a pin style slide stop in a TS are you doing anything to plug the square hole in the frame or are you just leaving it open? Thought about making a plug for it out of sugru that would be easy enough to remove if I need to go back to a full slide stop but was wondering what other people have had success with.
  25. I think Option #1 will yield better results, if by "at your leisure" you mean giving yourself time to reset, take a breath, and focus on the skill you're working on before performing the next rep. Option #2 sounds like a recipe for going through the motions without giving yourself much time to analyze/refine/learn the skill. I've started using Steve Anderson's "new" recommendation of using two timers and really like it. Basically you work a skill for a set amount of time at a set par time, i.e. "I am going to do reloads for 20 minutes at a 0.9 par time." So you set a count down timer at 20 minutes, and bang out reps using the par timer until the alarm goes off. I focus on the skill better because I'm not concerned with counting reps and I think get overall better reps because I'm not just cranking them out trying to hit a certain number.
