  1. Flex, I use the fiber optic dot like an open gun electronic sight. I just put the dot in the center of the target. I have tried the white dot front and liked it too. The white dot is much better indoors. The Aro-Tek dot front has a large white dot and is .165" high like the stock sight.
  2. North Pass Hiviz front, Novak rear. Front retails for $25 and rear is $33. The Novak has a .125" notch. The NP front comes with six light tubes of red and green in three different diameters. I like this combo. The big,.125", tube really helps my old myopic eyes see the front sight. Then again I have heard sights are over rated anyway. Who takes the time to look at them?
  3. The BUL guns I have looked at are put together as well as Kimbers. The slide (S&W/Jericho) is the same one Kimber uses. I don't see why a .45 STI mag would not work. I would think a Para mag could be made to work also. Go to www.bultransmark.com to see the guns. Charles Daly does not make any firearms.
  4. Rhino, I do not recall what the price was. I would wait on the BUL M5, soon to be imported by Charles Daly. STI/SVI mags will fit without modification. Dealer cost is $541 for the Gov't model. The IPSC model is around $1100. I plan on purchasing the Gov't model. I think CD bumped the price up too much on the IPSC model.
  5. Rhino, I stuck a SVI mag into one the other day. It seems like it should feed. Hard to say as my mag is a .40.
  6. I agree with you Flex. 165 or 155 feel much snappier to me also. I really like the 180s in .40. As a general rule I shoot the heaviest bullet I can find, 147-9mm, 180-.40 and 230 in 45.
  7. I use a 13# ISMI spring in my 35, 168-169 pf.
  8. Duck, I guess I have just been lucky. I have fired over 100,000 rds of 165+ PF .40 without any problems. I will be happy to take any "guppy belly" Glock brass. I still do not see any reason to dump the stock Glock barrel.
  9. Leo, I have shot many thousands of lead bullets through my stock Glock barrel. If you stay away from soft bullets and clean the barrel once in a while then there is no problem using lead bullets in a Glock barrel. I used Valiant 180 gr. bullets. Jim, I load 4.3 gr. of Titegroup with a WSP primer in .40. The OAL is 1.125". 930 - 940 fps in both of my G35s. I load the 9mm with 3.0 gr. and a OAL of 1.135", same primer. Velocity in the G34 ran about 865 - 870. I posted a target over on the Glock Talk Forum that grouped under 1" with this load. I think the post was titled Glocks Won't Group?. Gorilla, there is no such thing as a fully supported barrel. Some do offer a little more support than the Glock barrel. Remember, you lose some reliability when the chamber gets smaller.
  10. I guess I tend to get a little confused as to why anyone would want to dump the Glock barrel. I own quite a few Glocks and have never had one that was not accurate enough for IPSC or IDPA. Guys we shoot at a huge target. I gave up on shooting lead .40 loads in matches a couple of years ago. The .40 generates a lot of smoke, much more than a .45 does. I found that in certain stages the smoke obscured the targets. All of my G35s and G34s shoot golf ball size or better groups at 25yds. I think proper bullet and powder selection has more to do with good accuracy than anything else. I have settled on Titegroup and either Rainier or West Coast bullets. I like the WC 147 gr 9mm bullet and the Rainier 180 gr. HP in .40. Some complain that the Glock barrel causes too much bulge in the fired case. Who cares? .40 brass is dirt cheap - $8 - $12 per m delivered. The load I use to make Major only bulges the brass .001" more in the unsupported area anyway. Most shooters would be better served to keep their stock barrel (that feeds anything you throw at it) and spend their money on more practice ammo.
  11. 3.0 grs. Titegroup with a 147 gr plated bullet, OAL 1.125". I have found TG to be very clean with this combo.
  12. I use Arredondo and Taylor Freelance extended pads. They both work equally well. I have not had any feed problems with the Scherer tubes.
  13. You can also use a Scherer follower without modification. The Glock 15 rd tube will hold 20 rds. if you use the old style follower.

    Glock for the Boys

Just stick with your Tightgroup powder. It works fine. I load 3.2 grs with a 180 plated bullet, OAL 1.125". This combo, with a 13# spring, shoots softer than a 9mm. I have never had a FTF to feed with this load. I decided to just stick with one load for both IPSC and IDPA. I use 4.3 grs. of TG for both. Makes about 930 - 940 fps. If you look hard enough TG can be bought for $82 an 8 lb keg.
  15. I have bought 5,000-10,000 rounds of once fired PMC brass from http://www.brassmanbrass.com for about $12.00m. John has always delivered what he promised.

    G35 springs

I like the 13# spring. I use a tungsten rod and a Seattle Slug also. I find that I shoot my G35 faster than my Kimber.
  17. Leo, I have found the plated bullets to be very accurate. I have a post on Glock Talk that shows a 20 yd. 5 shot group fired from my G34 that can be covered with a nickel. My G35 groups under 1 1/4" at 25 yds. The main reason I shoot plated bullets is cost.
  18. BTW I have seen .40s KB in a Sig and a HK. One of the reasons KBs are more prevalent in Glocks is Glock sells 10 times as many guns as Sig and HK.
  19. Guys, I thought this KB issue had long since been put to bed. I have shot tens of thousands of 168-170 PF loads through my Glock 35. Before I found a cheap source ($8.00m) of .40 brass I loaded mine on an average of 10 times before I dumped it. I use 4.3 grains of Titegroup with a 180 gr. Ranier JHP plated bullet loaded to 1.130" OAL. I get less bulging of the brass with this load than most factory loads. If anyone out there is afraid of their brass send it to me. One of the problems with aftermarket barrels is their tight chamber. A Glock barrel will feed just about anything. I use a regular set of RCBS dies in my 550. I do run my loaded rounds through a case gauge. I get about 2 out of a 100 that won't pass the gauge test. These go into the practice box.

    BUL M5

Saul said the same thing to me about the mags. He said they designed the new frame to accept the STI/SVI mags. without having to grind on the frame to make them work.

    BUL M5

They are similar to the STI/SVI guns. Before all the STI/SVI owners start howling I said they are similar. They are like the old Kimber hicap guns. Kimber only offered them in .45. I have examined the old BUL M5 IPSC guns and found them to be well built. The new guns appear to address all of the flaws in the old design.

    BUL M5

Roger, the standard .45 models have a list price of $599. The IPSC model should have a dealer cost of well under $800. BTW a few calls to Charles Daly (866-325-9486) would help show an interest in the IPSC model. (Edited by Joe D at 5:46 am on Dec. 3, 2002)

    Only ONE GLOCK

I like the G35. You can shoot IDPA SSP and ESP or IPSC Limited, Limited 10 and Production. A .40 downloaded to the 125 PF IMO shoots softer than a 9mm. I have a G34, but like the G35 better. 40 brass is actually cheaper than 9mm.

    BUL M5

Thanks I did not notice the comma. I will call Charles Daly Monday just to make sure they are going to bring in the "IPSC" model.

Spook, for some reason the link will not open with the http:// prefix. Just use www. then the rest.
