  1. Warren, Is that one of yours?? would that handle on the bottom be legal now??? lol
  2. nothing but Hogue. Best on the market. also secure. you will never drop a gun out of one if locked.
  3. shoot NRA Action Pistol. There is no movement except from firing point to firing point. Trevor Baucom shoot from a chair.
  4. Lee makes 38 short cold dies. I use them and a 9mm dillon powder funnel and final crimp of a lee Factory crimp for 9mm works great shell plate is 38 spl
  5. get a Machinery's Handbook. You can't go wrong using the information in it. I have built 3 1911's 2 from parts one converted to 9mm from a 45 acp. I milled the slide to lighten etc as I use 155 gr. at 1150 fps. The converted gun has won 2 Jr. World Action Pistol Championships, 1 Jr Bianchi Cup and numerous other titles. Get a set of prints on the 1911 and study them to come up with a plan to lighten the slide. determine the cuts and how much you want to remove to get the weight you want. There is a limit to how much you can remove. Purchase quality cutters. DON'T GO CHEAP. Stick to the proper speeds and feeds and lubrication. Good Luck.
  6. Does that gun always shoot in mirror groups??
  7. Louis's 9mm load is starline brass, Zero 115gr Conical JHP, Titegroup, Fed primer. at 40 yds from a ransom rest you can cover them with a quarter. Speed aprox. 1150 or so. Std Deviation is under 5 if I remember. This is out of a 1911 comp gun. Lesson. Heaver bullets aren't necessarily more accurate
  8. I have several verniers in my my shop. I still use them. Very rugged. However my Starrett #120 Dial calipers have only been to the shop once in 36 years. they are still calibrated every quarter. I have developed several habits. 1. Don't let anyone else use them. 2. Always put back in case every time you set them down and close the lid each time.
  9. For those attending the IRC please be aware that your membership must be current. there is a renewal link on the ICORE website. as well as a online Join ICORE Link. David
  10. I have never been to a major match that does not allow me to pickup my moons. (They are connected to my brass so I also get my brass back) I have also never been to a major match that requires me to remove my brass from my moons after picking them up.
  11. Linited-6 is just that a limited gun with 6 shots. So no C-More in limited-6 div.
  12. I proposed this same question about AP several years ago. The answer was it has to be grown at the club level. The NRA will not help.
  13. We had to contact Woody (NRA Guy) to get a sponsorship form. The costs went up considerably from last year. Instead of product for shooters they wanted a large amount of money. It was not in our budget to fork out 1000 cash for a booth in the bldg. Plus product. I also heard that the Marketing/Prize department employees gets a bonus at the end of the year based on how much cash they bring in.
  14. Kevin, I meant that the ratio of total shooters to the top 36. What it is 36/200? I was not implying that anyone got a free entry. ( outside of ones given to sponsors of a certain level).
  15. I think they had to throw a bone to the non top 36 shooters. (You know the ones who pay for the match)
  16. I must have misunderstood him when he said what friday was for. My Bad sorry for the confusion. dca
  17. Talked to Damian this morning about the issues with squading. Friday is for international teams to shoot?? those who are on list but not signed up are in top 20 last year and get squaded. If they don't show up they are dropped. He fixed the 2 (?) persons who had 4 practicals listed. Said he would talk to IT guy.
  18. Louis's 9mm load is 4.4gr Titegroup, Starline Brass, 115gr Zero conical bullet with Federal small primers. His 50yd group of 6 shots you can cover with a Quarter. That is from his Wilson Combat gun. We tested his old gun too and it groups the same. These were shot from a ramson rest. Sydney's 38 super load is 4.7 gr. Titegroup, Starline Brass, 115gr. Zero Conical Bullet Federal small primers. Her gun shoots a group at 50yds you can cover with a quarter as well. I built her and Louis old guns.
  19. Team SFP will be there. Mark, Doug, Tiff, Karl, Ryan, Travis, Syd, Louis as well as Mama Bear and me.
  20. i use a lee 38 short colt die but I use a 9mm lee factory crimp die dcs
  21. Already ahead of you. Right now the gun needs a barrel (clark cut) and I am going to modify the slide and fix it up to be a backup gun for sydney. she shoots 38 super and louis has a new gun this year so his old gun is his backup.
  22. I have a series 80 frame and a slide marked with series 80 but the hole for the spring in the slide is welded up. I purchased it that way. does that mean I have to drill out the hole and put the safety stuff back in? What makes my slide any different than a slide not made with the hole for the firing pin block. If I drill it out to put the firing pin block back in and make a mistake in location could that make the gun unsafe? Just asking.
  23. Richard, I like your analysis. It does hit the point. However, doesn.t there have to be a run of 500 before a gun is considered factory.
  24. contact Warren Moore at Protocall Designs he is a forum member. toolguy. He could probably make what you want.
