Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the info. Guess using lube is the route to go on the larger pistol brass.
  2. I know the rollsizer resizes the bottom 1/3rd of the case. Does anyone know if the CasePro 100 resizes the full length of the case? I'm looking for something that will make reloading on my 650 & 550 easier for 357 and 44mag without having to automate my 1050 and buying tool heads and conversions for it. The other option is using lube to decap/resize, clean the brass again, then run it through to reload it.
  3. I've seen this too, but it's always been the guy has tried to "tune" his revolver by just backing off the strain screw, resulting in light strikes on factory ammo. If you are going to run factory ammo, then leave the trigger pull at factory 9-10lbs. If you want lighter trigger pull, then reload with Federal primers and get someone to do a real trigger job on your revolver
  4. sure, let us know how that works out for you
  5. I calculated a .001" change in barrel position equals ~.3" at 50m. So I went with as rigid a base as possible to give me the most repeatable barrel position. Try your pail of kitty litter and let us know how it works
  6. yep, getting a solid base was the tough part. After we got the concrete block positioned, we fastened a steel plate to the block with anchors, and then bolted another plate to that to level out the mounting surface. One of our guys was a sheet metal worker with access to a huge hydraulic brake
  7. I picked mine up used for $500 with 4 sets of grip inserts. It takes a bit of technique to get consistent trigger pulls, and you need a really solid base to mount it on ?
  8. you should do some load workups to test to see which works best for you gun. Loads will be different for different types (swaged lead, copper plated ...) of bullets, as well as different manufacturers. Here's some load workups and testing I did last winter my testing setup is a ransom rest, shot through a chrono at a target at 50m. my best grouping at ~2.5". Worst groupings were over 14"
  9. We had a fun couple of level 2 qualifiers here over the long weekend. I managed to get some other wheel-gunners to play with (helps when you are also the match director lol). Total of 7 x 929's on my squad on Sunday, 4 of us on Monday. Fun fun fun ?
  10. I use this parts organizer. Fit loaded moon clips for my 929. 625 and 610 perfectly. Also has room for spare moon clips, loaded moon clip checker, and demooner.
  11. Dillon worked fine, but I switched to Lee FC because I was getting some bullet creep. The 6th, 7th,. 8th round would sometimes creep .100". I was using very little crimp at first, and then down to .376. Still got bullet creep. I switched to the Lee FC die set at .378 crimp, and all is fine now. You may also want to get some loaded moon clip check gauges. I buy mine from Revolver Supply co, and run all my loaded moon clips through them before a match, and again before I run a stage. It helps eliminate any loading problems caused by a bent moon clip.
  12. I found I didn't need the bar so I never used it. I started with a 5" 625 in IPSC, and then moved on to the 929. I've also done a few practices with the 6.5" 610. They all felt secure enough without using the bar. On my CR Speed holster that I use for my Production div gun, I definitely needed to use the bar. The gun would move around way too much without it.
  13. Not yet. I only got it last year. It was already cut for moon clips so I may give it a run at a memorial revolver match later this year. It's just a fun club match. There was someone shot their 29 with full magnums a couple of years ago. He was just using speed loaders, so we all helped him pick up his brass after each stage lol
  14. I use the DA Race Master with the N frame insert for IPSC and speed steel matches. Have never had a problem feeling the gun was unsecure during movement, although I do leave the lock on if I need to move more than 2 steps. The lock is really quick to flip off during the draw, so it hardly slows me down at all. The benefit of the Race Master is with this insert, I can run all my N frame revolvers, so I can holster my 610, 625, 929, and 629.
