  1. I routinely hear dudes in their 20's/30's at local matches complaining about being tired after a match consisting of less than two minutes of actual physical exertion. Sad.
  2. Based on the latest USPSA magazine, there's not nearly enough physicality in this sport. I think that applies to society in general though.
  3. Forum rules say I can request account deletion. It’s under the privacy/security portion of account settings. Which is it are we following forum rules or not?
  4. I requested deletion of my account. This will be my last post here.
  5. Seems like bad advice I also once followed. The real solution is to be confident in your shot calling. There WILL be situations where if your engagement order is in a way that you won’t shoot steel last you will be leaving time on the table.
  6. Why would you zero at 50 yards for USPSA?! What's your POA at 3 yards then? Open shooter? I zero at 15 yards and don't have to worry about any shift in POA/POI out to at least 25 yards. In 60 matches last year I don't think a single one had targets past 25 yards.
  7. HSL recently raised their prices but it's better quality and still cheaper.
  8. IME supervel is pretty terrible. I know I’ll probably get flamed for that but I’ve seen multiple people have issues with their ammo locally. Either it won’t gauge, has bullet setback, or people saying they have to modify their guns (HD extractor springs) to make it run reliably. There’s better options for better prices for remanufactured ammo. I use an 11.5 spring and so far haven’t had any issues with Federal, Winchester, CCI, or Fiocchi.
  9. If you’re moving your hands aggressively enough slapping for reloads you’re going to lose mags.
  10. Preferably no! I’m looking for something more like these- https://shootsteel.com/product/3-8-steel-target-16-static-popper/ That price isn’t too bad either. Anyone here using them?
  11. Anyone using this shot timer yet? The Spy Mode sounds intriguing to me. I’ve emailed them for more information but it sounds like it would mirror the RO’s timer and allow you access to all your data during an actual stage performance.
  12. Thanks buddy! I already have the LPVO so that pretty much settles that!
  13. I’m looking into putting together a dedicated AR15 for tac rifle/2gun matches. The local ruleset is pretty relaxed so what’s your preferred build? The local match has steel out to 200. The only thing I’m really set on is a hiperfire eclipse trigger and the lower I already have. I’m debating between building an upper or just buying a Larue. I think the Larue might actually come in a little cheaper. 12.5” vs 14.5”? Muzzle compensator/suppressor and buffer of choice? LPVO with an offset dot vs a 510c with magnifier? What else am I missing? I’m not a rifle guy.
  14. I did a full spring replacement at the one year mark which was about 12k on my S2. I use a pretty light recoil spring so I replace that shock buffer about every 4-5k or when it starts to look worn. In the future I will probably replace extractor springs more frequently- every 5-8k as mine was noticeably shorter (about 2 coils) and I was starting to get FTE’s. A lot of local guys are running or will recommend the HD extractor springs
  15. I think this is going to be overkill for me. I’m looking for 2 of each size to use a couple times a month.
  16. Looking to pick up a couple of each- mini poppers, full size pepper poppers, and 8” plates. Prices fluctuate wildly from $90 to over $300. This is for personal use only. What are the best deals of correctly sized steel you guys have found?
  17. I think it is now… ranges need people to show up to make money and hold a pin match. I think you can shoot pins 4-5 days a week in the Denver area every week if you want to. Not a single one runs their match like the ways of old
  18. My local pin match “anything goes” as far as gun choice. The pins are set about a foot from the edge and there is 6 pins at 10 yards and a start or stop pin (depending on the rules that day) at 15 yards. If you aren’t clearing the table in under 3.5 seconds you aren’t competitive. There are about a half a dozen guys capable of winning any given Thursday and they all shoot 9mm semi-auto with a red dot. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone show up with a revolver. My uspsa ammo works just fine.
  19. Older thread but I’ll post an update. I started shooting when I was 38. No previous experience. I made M in CO in 7 months and even took a month off in the middle. I have a pretty obsessive personality though. Take a couple classes. Shoot a lot. Read the books. Squad with the super squad and watch what they do. Basically just put in the work. I turn 40 this summer and my goal is to be “good enough” to make a run for GM next fall. I live in a pretty competitive area and do pretty well but still lack a little consistency. I have a 2 year old and another due any day. I’ve been an athlete most of my life and I think a lot of people neglect the fitness aspect of this game. In reality it’s a movement game where you happen to shoot guns. Mobility is a big deal. I’ve also had a back surgery, and broken my entire lumbar spine/pelvis. No excuses, just put in the work
  20. If you’re talking about a main spring a 13# ignites everything I have tried.
  21. If you’re talking about a main spring a 13# ignites everything I have tried.
  22. The way things are going this seems to be a moot argument. I'm not sure USPSA is going to exist a year from now.
