  1. I’m at 1.07” in my gen 5 Glock 19 barrel. Anyone have any experience with these rounds? at higher lengths like 1.08 and 1.09 I would get the occasional fail to feed and get caught on feed ramps. I doubt it’s the powder load because I used 5.3gr CFE-p for all lengths. i have read in one post the round likes 1.065 can anyone confirm?
  2. I picked up a Walther Q5 Match for USPSA optics and installed a Trijicon RMR the other evening. I tested the gun before installing the optic and its very accurate with my stance, grip using the iron sight. Also my overall alignment feels very natural and relaxed. However, after installing and zeroing the Trijicon my stance and grip are is all messed up. If I draw the gun and hold in my natural stance the dot is not visible. I need to break both wrists down and to the right to see the dot. In other words the dot is very high and left in my natural stance. It almost feels like I'm holding the gun too high and shooting down! As you can imagine it feels very unnatural and I'm not sure that any amount of practice will make it feel any better.....nor do I think its good practice. By comparison my Open gun with a CMore in my regular stand is very easy and natural to pick up the dot. What did I do wrong on the install? I have read all manner of posts here and elsewhere about co-witnessing iron sight and red dots but can't really see/find a solution. Any Walther Q5 Match/Trijicon RMR owners have any ideas? For reference this is the optic I have: RM05G: RMR® Dual-Illuminated Sight – 9.0 MOA Green Dot
  3. As a part of my ongoing divisional tour of USPSA, I'm in the process of setting up a carry optics gun. Before I set up a Glock 17 gen 5 with one of my trusty RMRs, or join the dark side and use a 320, I thought I would solicit a few opinions on the best red dot for carry optics. I like and am relatively familiar with the RMR platform, and would use this for self defense, but the lack of dot clarity, blue lens tint, and small field of view is a bit off-putting. I'm seeing a lot of Leupold delta point pros showing up in competition lately, I like the glass quality, and lack of blue lens tint, but have concerns on battery life. Max Michel is having a great deal of success with the Sig optics Romeo 01 (but he's Max Michel), and I like the field of view, but not the biggest fan of the blue tint. Vortex optics has a great reputation and I run a lot of their optics on my more practical rifles. Their warranty is second to none, quality is always good, and I like the Razor I have as a side mount on one of my rifles. All that said I have very little hands on time with the venom, or viper. Any feedback anyone has on what you choose to use and why, or notable issues on the others would be appreciated. Thanks for your time all.
  4. I am planning to try running a Glock 19 for Carry Optics. Living in Washington state, it can get wet. What is the best cover for this size of pistol with an rmr?
  5. I can't decide on which RMR to purchase for USPSA carry optics division. I figure there would be no one better to ask then you open guys, which model do you prefer and why? I am thinking the 6.5 adjustable RMR but not sure if that's right. It will be mounted on a Glock 34.
  6. I just picked up a used Gen 4 Glock 34 MOS that I'll mostly be using at the informal multi-gun competitions / shoots locally. I plan on running an RMR on it and likely swapping the sights out with suppressor height sights for cowitnessing. Who makes a holster that would work (clear the RMR, sight channel large enough for the suppressor sights, good enough retention for running and gunning, and preferably dropped / offset)?
  7. With the current 'sale' (15% off) at Xtreme, I picked up 500 124gr plated HP to try, along with another case of MG 124gr JHP on the way. I've seen references to load them to jacketed velocities, and that the plating is supposed to be fairly thick (vs Berry's, Ranier), but are you guys whom are or have used them loading to jacketed load data, cast, or in between? My current happy load is 4.9gr of WSF under a Montana Gold 124gr JHP, ~1130FPS, OAL of 1.065" (somewhat short chamber on one pistol, previously loading to 1.085"). WSF data is always a slight challenge, as that's well within 124gr FMJ load ranges (4.7-5.3), as well as being a fairly often recommended load, but my velocity is a bit higher than Hodgdon load data, while it shoots quite well. I'll probably back off my 'go to' load to 4.7 and re-chrono/re-test as a result of shortening the OAL recently. The only 'benefit' here is with the current discount pricing, vs somewhat 'not so discounted' pricing of MG (case qty), I save ~1c/rd. 3 matches/month + some practice would amount to ~$10-12/month savings, or thereabouts. I'm not sure it makes enough difference for me to consider or not at this point. Hodgdon online shows 4.7-5.3gr for a 124gr FMJ, while it shows a range of 4.0-4.7gr for a 124gr Lead RN. Anyone using them and able to compare them vs jacketed or cast load data? Are they 'worth' the cost savings of 1c/rd?
