PistolPete
I was reading on another forum about people tumbling loaded rounds to get the excess lube off and clean the ammo one last time. They said they tumble no more than 15-20 minutes or so. Is this a safe practice and does anyone here do this? Couldn't a round cycling the tumbler hit a primer and have a discharge? What are your experiences on this? Pete
Run n Gun
No, it’s not crazy. Do a search on the subject, there’s a thread on it somewhere. I don’t do it because I don’t lube the cases I run though my Dillon and the miscellaneous calibers that I load with the single stage get sprayed with Hornady One Shot that doesn’t have to be cleaned off. EricW
I do it all the time with no ill effects.
crazyaboutguns
In a vibratory machine, not a rotating drum, tumbling is no proble. Five-ten minutes is enough to remove lubricant. This topic has been beaten to death.
Loves2Shoot
It is fine, but not necessary.
Kevin Kline
Ditto here, I also tumble my loaded rounds with no problems.
PistolPete
Do you still run them thru the case and media seperator?
rhino
For what it's worth, the reason why new, factory ammo is so bright and shiny is . . . <drum roll> . . . they tumble it after loading!
RodneyLtd
I tumble my loaded rounds and run them trough my Dillon media separator when fisished tumbling. it works great.
kevin c
I used to tumble, but then I got the One Shot light. The rounds are slicker in the mag, too. I also found that, on chrono'ing, the SD on the tumbled rounds was higher than nontumbled rounds.
