Shot a Steel match on Saturday and my first USPSA Match of the year. Steel match was pretty good I blew 2 stages but I still had a pretty good day. Shot my first USPSA Match this year today. I was rushing shots on steel today causing me to make up to many shots. I will post results when I get them I am not expecting much LOL! But I still had a lot of fun. Getting ready for USPSA match next Sunday and it will be a better performance!

Good match Bruce. I was watching your squad on stage 2 after I finished. Your run looked smooth (except for the mike.)

I should have said howdy. (You sold me a Kimber a while back.)

Hows the Kimber doing? I will probably be at PASA for the next USPSA match there. Mike what Mike "I have never missed a target in my shooting career.";)

See you at PASA next time!

I hope to see you at PASA. I usually have to work 3rd Sundays, but I hope I get lucky & get to go a few times this year.

The Kimber is shooting better than I can make it run. A weird thing happened with it last week. I was shooting a stage & the rear sight broke off just behind the height adjustment screw & conked me on the schnozz. I'll get it replaced. I was just glad it wasn't a blowup.

Call Wilson and see if they will replace it. That is pretty weird.

Here are the results from Sunday USPSA match 4/25/10.

I did not have a very good match but I did have fun even in the crappy weather we had. I did not take any video due to the rain.

Stage 1 Can You Count:

The first string I completely missed the mag button on the mag change but the second string went nice and smooth mid 3'S the first string was mid 4's. Did not turn out too bad.

5 Cannon, Vern 4 C Limited 125 30 35.80 2.6536 52.3334 37.38%

Summary:

I usually do not struggle with the weak/strong hand stages I just did not have the visual patience/follow through with the strong/weak hand shots. I feel pretty good about letting go of the 2 not so good stages and pulled it together in the field course which I won that stage in the overall combined scores as well. Some days you just can't make everything click. I will be working on being more consistent through out the matches and not worry about times and just shoot the targets and get my hits no matter how long I think it is taking. Time to get ready for the Steel Match on Saturday. Also not using this as an excuse but I am wondering if my timing was a little off due to changing recoil springs I went up a couple lbs. Something to think about I guess. Bottom line is I really did not have the visual patience/follow through I needed to make the shot!

See you at the range!

Shot a local Steel Match today had an ok day I was running the match had a lot going on. Finished 1st Limited and 2nd overall. Then some guys set up an IDPA Classifier to get classified for the MO State IDPA match coming up and talked me into shooting it. I borrowed an M&P (4inch) holster and ammo(since I do not own a Legal IDPA gun). shot the classifier in SSP and managed to classify expert (110.47) with a gun I have never shot. So I am going to try to borrow an M&P pro 5" gun to shoot the MO State IDPA match. I had trouble with the mag changes with the gun but that is just not being familiar with it.

Well I was cleaning my gun last night and discovered the rear sight was broke at the hinge. I have a sight on the way thanks to Power Custom USA! It had to have happened Saturday at our steel match just wondering when it actually broke because I was struggling with some of the longer(25yd) steel shots. Should have the sight installed Wed and sighted in by Thurs to get ready for a USPSA match on Sturday!

Well installed my new Dawson adjustable sight(what a PITA) that I received from Power Custom USA to replace my broken STI adjustable (which STI is replacing). Went to the range yesterday to sight in my new sight it took 11 rounds. I sighted in at 15yds at a 6inch plate with a black dot the size of a quarter the last 3 rounds I had a hit at about 2 o'clock about an inch off the black dot and called it. So I fired another shot, bulls-eye and fired another shot bulls-eye can't get no better than that pack up and ready for the match on Saturday! Thanks to Power Custom USA for getting me the sight quickly!

See you at the range!

USPSA Classifier match this past weekend. Finished 3rd in Limited and 3rd overall. 6 Stages total I had won 3 stages and ,2nd 3rd ,6th. I am having trouble with my consistency. This is my 3rd USPSA match of the year and every match I have had 1 stage that I completely bomb. The rest go pretty good. I am trying to get my consistency back. It is never the first stage it is always some where in-between. Looking for any and all advise as what I could do to solve this little problem. I know it is consistency that wins matches. Please help I need to get my consistency back! It is getting pretty frustrating I feel like I am beating my head against a wall. Thanks in advance for any help! Hope someone chimes in and makes something click for me!

I have been struggling with consistency my last couple of matches. Good points, but the game just feels a little off to me, is this what you are experiencing? I think that with me it is because I am ready to make a leap in my progress. I have been thinking too much, things I know that I should be doing are clicking. I am starting to do them. The problem, I think, is that I am doing them consiously. I worry about entries and exits and gun position. Before, I just moved and shot. Now I am nitpicking my game and trying to smooth it out and it takes a conscious effort. I basically know where I lose time and I am consciously trying to correct the bad habits I have accumulated getting to a high "B".

I am positive that I will be back to flowing like water when I ingrain these methods in my subconscious. I hope this helps. Good luck!

For me I am rushing shots when I bomb a stage(not getting my hits or a lot of make up shots) and don't really know why I am, when the rest of the match goes pretty good. I need to find something to get me out of the trap of time( it is creeping into my mind I guess?) which I think is causing me to rush the shots.

Getting ready for the Central Pro-AM Speed plate match this weekend. Set up on Friday with a little practice after set up and shoot on Saturday. My goal for this match is to not let time creep into my head, don't rush my shots hit the plates no matter how long I think I am taking(let my vision do the shooting not my mind). Then heading to PASA Park on Sunday(with the same goal) for a good USPSA match shooting stages from the SS Classic. It will be a great weekend!

See you at the range!

I had a pretty good day at the 2010 Central Pro Am Speed Plates match Saturday, still somethings to tweak. Struggled on a couple stages. Finished 1st A Class in Limited 2nd over all Limited and 5th overall. Congrats to Tim K. who won HOA and 1st Limited. It rained pretty much all day. I was going to go to PASA park for a USPSA match but was totally drained from Saturdays match.

Local USPSA match at ARPC today. I won Limited and 3rd overall. Even though I won Limited I still was not happy with my performance, again still having the rushing creeping in I have to get this figured out! Taking a couple weeks off of shooting. Next match June 19th Local steel match, after that it will be Indiana!

After my pitfall performance at the last steel match I have ditched my F/O front sight for a while. I was shooting high all day due to the red F/O I was not getting the top of the front sight lined up with the top of the rear notch (I have not had this problem for a long time). The F/O was washing out the top of the front sight blade. I think it is time to go back to black!

USPSA Match June 27th

Finished first in Limited and 6th overall I tanked the first 2 stages (5 stages total) I shot then decided to just shoot! I blacked out my F/O front sight for this match because I was struggling with it at a steel match kept shooting high. I liked the blacked out fiber it did not hurt any speed at all and the points where much better. Stage 1 I finished 2nd overall w/125 points out of 130 possible. Stage 2 (Takem down)finished 1st overall with 54 points out of 55 possible and stage 3 I finished 4th overall and shot 90 points out of 90 possible! I will be sticking with the blacked out F/O for a while!

Local Steel match 07/03/10

Struggled on the first 2 stages kept shooting high and was using the F/O blacked out so on the 2nd stages I put a new red F/O in and same thing shooting high so I decided before the next stage to move my rear sight down 4 clicks, what do ya know I started hitting the plates but was a tick high for my liking so I decided to move the rear sight down 1 more click for the last stage and gained 8 seconds(speed Option) on that stage putting me 1st in Limited and 3rd over all. Its funny because 2 weeks ago I was struggling with the same thing and benchrested the gun to check the sights and they where fine I must be seeing something different while shooting offhand at speed. I am back to the red F/O!
