Getting the Boot!

Putting it in humor as it seems very funny now...

Today was a first for me....I got thrown out of the Kimball Art Museum in Fort Worth for my pocket knife!

I could "check it at the front desk and get it when I left"....but figuring I left that kind of thing back in junior high I just put it in the truck. Counted about 35 dweebs in blue sport jackets wandering around pretending they're cops and looking very serious...and one old man at the front door who WAS serious as he had a badge and P226. My wife said they were yapping about it on their walkie talkies but I didn't hear any of that....they are apparently expecting some big art heist or something and a guy with a pocket knife is just too risky.

Just a little Benchmade Mel Pardue...not a full-auto combat assault with supressor pocket knife.... But I still got the boot....

Well, Brian. With the courage shown by the normal herd of sheep when the wolf gets into the pen...... You and your pocket knife could have probably wiped out the entire contingency of visitors. Likely they would huddle in a mass trying to escape notice while waiting on a response from the local PD as none would be armed with anything but I-Pods and cell phone cameras.. <_<

Hmmm....An art museum? But if I were to guess, maybe they were less worried about you threatening their patrons and more worried about their "oils on canvas."

I think Carina has it. They are worried about a crazy person destroying their art, not hurting another person.

I had a Gerber pocket knife that was one of my all time favorites.

I say "had" because it was laid on the altar of Homeland Security.

I forgot it was in my pocket as I was heading through security for a flight.

It was a case of give it up or forget getting on the plane.

I was pretty fond of that knife.

I once used it to cut free a woman who was trapped in the wreckage of her car.

It was the only tool I had, but it got the job done.

Tough little knife.

Maybe I should have explained that my knife doesn't take lives, it saves them.

Besides, I would never hijack a plane.

70 Virgins would be more than I could handle.

yeh, I had a little ordeal at the Statue of Liberty. I had an Emerson Full size on me. hit the metal detector and the following "son what do you use that for". To which I replied "cleaning my fingernails". They sort of had a laugh, looked at my license, realized I was south of the Mason Dixon and offered to politely hold onto it for me. It was sort of funny. But oh well.
