Let's just say they're not willing to help me anymore....

and you think you are going to get help from us 10rnd, minor shooting fools..

Nope...I expect I'll make money answering your questions! :surprise:

I seem to recall another damn good open shooter coming down to our little production world and got his arse handed to him for at least a month by a couple lowly b class shooters. Then he went back to open

I am going to pick up my replacement of the shiny red beast today- the kicker is that I have to deliver it to the FFL holder and wait two days to pick it up again! What agony these laws bring us! I can't imagine waiting 10 days though! :surprise:

Knowing Sean, he'll have 10,000 dry fire rounds and 20,000 reloads on the gun in the guys back room while he's "waiting".

Former inmate of the People's Republic of MD here (& good shooting with you last Sun - yes that was me shooting Wolf/PMC primers). Hate to break it to you, but MD's "10 day waiting period" usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. During that time, the state police are supposed to complete a background check, new "looney"/mental health check, and if all is clear, they stamp your form:

"NOT DIS-APPROVED"

See - some bright MD state minion long ago decided that the state should NEVER "approve" of a civilian owning a gun, hence, the PC language.

But, the state police usually don't complete the form within the alotted 10 days.

The Maryland FFL CAN legally release the gun to you at the end of 10 days with or without the form. But if they do, it would be the 1st time I have ever heard of one following the spirit of the law (even the FFLs in MD are anti-gun). Instead, they'll just hold your handgun hostage until the police get around to "not disapproving" of you owning it. Seem sort of screwy to have to ask the state for permission to excercise a right?

Naa, still practicing jammin mags into the glocks. Gotta make my M card in production. But that doesn't mean I don't want to play around with an STI now and then. Learn the gun and it's parts, set up reloads for it, maybe shoot an occasional match with it. Just can't start anything with the STI until I get it. I checked it out and then did the paperwork.

God, I have to stop.... I have erased two different rants before posting this one entry already. Man, I haven't been this pissed since 9/11.

As for CA, I was stationed at Travis AFB for 2 1/2 years. Don't even get me started on the insanity of that place. CA is a foreign country IMO. Flex would probably erase my rants on CA due to exessive vulgarity.....

+ a million regarding the insanity of the People's Republik of Kalifornia. I live here under the hobnailed boot of socialist oppression, for the time being.

When my kids graduate high school, I can leave this accursed place in search of freedom. Texas looks like a great place to find it, maybe Louisiana or Alaska...

I used to really enjoy Sat nights (NOT) when the dirtbags would leave "The Classics" bar just up the street from the main gate at Andrews and pop rounds off at my guys while turning at the intersection to head back into D.C. where handguns are illegal :surprise:

OMG!! You really HAVE been here.

Yeah, spent way too many years there, but it wasn't all bad. The only thing good about that little complex across the street is the Jiffy Shop sub/pizza place! Has anyone told you about the gunfight between rival gangs in the McDonalds parking lot about ten years ago? At least one of the bangers had a fully auto sub gun...several of my guys witnessed the event....shot out most of the windows in McD's.

Unless things have changed in the last two years, there is one way to shorten the waiting period in MD...buy at least one gun per year. If it's been less than a year they don't have to do the complete background check.

Back to the thread drift -

My whole world is turning upside down - Sean with an STI, Todd starting to shoot his 34, and George says he's going to start shooting matches. WTF?

Well, there was a lunar eclipse yesterday.

Been away a day or so... nice rant!

Stationed in Germany in the 80's and 90's we were allowed to buy anything we wanted at the Rod & Gun club on base, but then it had to be stored in the company armory for the duration of your tour. You were only allowed to handle it in an empty room with an officer present and written permission from your company commander. Imagine the anxiety of buying a beautiful Sako or Colt, and letting it languish in the arms room for 4 years, unable to shoot it. It all made perfect sense when in the next hour you signed out an M-16 with 120 RDs, and M-60 with 600 rds, and a 1911 with 28 rds. Brilliant. I love bureaucracy.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, I picked the gun up today. Wow, its a great gun. I will do some minor tweaking to it; guide rod and recoil spring, etc, small stuff. The front sight has a tiny little bend in it that I will eventually have replaced, but its shootable as it is.

It's time for bullets, brass, and primers again.

just set the rig up for the gun and mags. holy crap are reloads, transitions, etc faster with this thing than with the Glock 24. I'm almost scared to shoot it now.... I might not go back to production if I do.

that is great to hear. :)
