ErikW
I'm thinking they use a five gallon paint bucket as a wad.

CDRODA396
If they'd make that in an auto-loader, I'd HAVE to have one!

BSeevers
Hard to believe that those were developed for hunting. They did put the butt plate on the ground and then take real birds from a fairly high distance. I want one
D.Hayden
Yes, you need one, but it needs new sights. Dawson makes a nice 2" high, 1/2" fiber front that works well
tightloop
Of course you need one...
JFD
Looks like a punt gun for sure. My understanding is it was set up like a cannon on a small boat and the birds were shot while in the water.

That was my understanding as well. It would allow you to take a substantial part of a flock with one shot. I think everyone needs one of these. Imagine how fast you could clear a plate rack or a TX star...does knocking over the whole apparatus count? The possibilities are endless. Thanks for the post.
