Shooter Grrl
Hey y'all, I shot my first GSSF match yesterday and did NOT make a complete fool out of myself :-) I'm an Open gun shooter so I was really surprised that I was able to handle the gun and get my hits, not only with an iron sighted gun, but with a "regular" trigger and a gun that I had to borrow and hadn't fired before. Considering all that, I've decided that I am a REAL shooter now :-)
GMyers
Congrats SG! I too am a REAL shooter... unfortunately not a REAL GOOD shooter, yet. I will shoot my first official IDPA (new member) match this weekend. Hopefully I will have something good for your forum! So... how was the first day on the job? Shooter Grrl
First day was kind of slow... had to finally break down and pat my own back - LOL!!!!
GMyers
I would say hang in there. I would guess things will only get busier, especially with us newbies. This is a hoppin' place you know!
Shooter Grrl
I expect Sat through Tues to be my busiest days - cause I don't think many of us actually get to shoot during the week :-)
Shooter Grrl
The results are posted... I placed 10th C and will receive a $25 check (I'll also get a new gun, cause the DH is giving me the one he won
Phil Dunlop
Well done Kath, your braver than me, I'm too spoilt by 1911 triggers! Whats the DH?
Shooter Grrl
DH = Dear/Darling/Dumb Husband - depending on my mood! The trigger was definitely DIFFERENT! I was about 95% done with the match when somebody mentioned that you didn't have to let it all the way out like a 1911 - d'oh!!!!! Thanks! Hey Phil - aren't you supposed to be HERE by now???? Still no flights.... (Edited by Shooter Grrl at 1:42 pm on Sep. 17, 2001)
38supPat
Should be D3H...lol Pat
Shooter Grrl
Can't be D3H, cause he's never all 3 at once :-)
Phil Dunlop
I figured the H was for Husband, just too many D's for my imagination. First flights didn't leave NZ in time for the match. I'm trying to get to area2 instead
Steve Moneypenny
no offense meant kath, but your still not a real shooter, your a glock (aka. Plastic) shooter. to be a real shooter, you have to shoot a REAL gun, ;-) congrats though.
Shooter Grrl
Harumph - you totally misunderstood this - I DO shoot a real gun... the point was I picked up a gun I had never shot before and did okay with it... therefore making me a real shooter :-) See now? kellyn
Isn't the GSSF like the Special Olympics of the shooting world?

Shooter Grrl
OH Kelly, You are SO right :-) However, since I walked away with MONDO prize goodies, I don't care if I'm the Special Olympics for shooting poster child! Double HARUMPH! Y'all are just picking on me now ;-ppppp
Steve Moneypenny
Kellyn you hit the nail on the head buddy, ever been to a match? no offense to anyone who does shoot GSSF, but i have found the COF's boringly easy, the people to dislike anyone that isn't a glocker, Glock is like the harley of motorcycles, everybody that has one thinks they are your brother, and i'll be damned if i don't scream when the next person starts questioning me about GSSF when i wear that stupid had! TDean
I shot the one in Shelton a few months ago, not impressed. My impression: Seemed like a bunch of old guys put down the deer rifle and came outt'a the hills with their "Hi-Tech Cop Guns". The pace was soooo slow people were looking for places to nap! I wizz-banged through IPSC style and did terrible. I didn't realize the scoring system would take sooooo many points off for not hitting the "A"' zone. Geez, I hit the man sized target in the kidney and liver with a 10mm. Why the penalty? I'll take some running'n gunning over that slow-paced stuff everytime. VIVA LA USPSA! ErikW
With their new scoring system, you've got to think of GSSF like it's the Bianchi Cup. You gotta win with a perfect score. OK, well, near-perfect. It's an accuracy game now, not a speed game. (I won an Amateur Civilian overall in the last year of hit factor type scoring, then tanked Stockmesiter and Unlimited the next year with time-penalty scoring.) Duane Thomas
I'm gonna go out and shoot some GSSF. Could anybody elaborate on the scoring system/courses of fire?
Flexmoney
Duane...you gotta learn how to use Google. All that stuff is just a few keystrokes away. I haven't shoot one yet... Targets are like the cup, scoring is like IDPA. Three stages, shot three times each. 10+1 in the gun. Stand and deliver.
