Has any body heard confirmed dates and location for Area 4? I've looked on the USPSA website as well as La. section and Area 4 websites and can't find any current information. I am hoping that someone has dates so that I can start making plans.

There was an email from Hicks that was being forwarded around that was pretty vague, saying the new dates would be the weekend after the Thanksgiving weekend (12/1 - 12/3?). No location was mentioned. I think its assumed it would be at the Clark range again, but again, that was not confirmed.

With it being near Thanksgiving holidays/start of Christmas season, lack of publicity, no announced venue or dates, could be the smallest Area match in recent history. <_<

So what is the easiest airport to fly into for this match. Dallas, Baton Rouge, ???

Also anyone know about hotels?

Dallas is closer. Baton Rouge would be at least a 4 hour drive.

PM Reneet, she should be able to give you info on hotels and airports.

There is an airport in Shreveport (SHV) but it's normally not the most reasonable fares.

Shreveport Regional Airport is about 20 miles west of the range all interstate hwy. The match hotel is always in Bossier City which is between Shreveport and the range.

Pardon my ignorance. If I make it this will be my first match outside of the state. What does "12 stages + chrono" mean? Are there any side matches in addition to the actual match? What is there to do for entertainment in that area? Thanks, Javier

Exactly what it seems.

Twelve separate stages.

A "thirteenth" stage that is a chronograph stage, to check for wimpy ammo :)

And...casinos casinos casinos!

:P

Cool. What about side matches? We just had a man-on-man at our sectional and I didn't have enough good ammo. Yes, that does imply that I brought bad ammo. Rookie mistake that won't happen again. Just trying to be ready this time.

Not Going this year. Had plans for june and when that fell through I am finished. It also makes me wonder about 12 stages with a 200+ round count. Going to be some pretty quick stages I bet. I don't think this will be up to par for an Area match.

Don't take my comments the wrong way; just trying to be helpful with a match that I used to be involved with to a nice guy who asked easy questions.

But the bottom line remains: After the way Hicks grossly mismanaged this match this year, I do not intend to ever attend a match that he has a hand in. Assuming there is such a thing :P

Round count is a pretty lousy way to evaluate a potential match. I'm still on the fence about going, since I know how ugly November in Shreveport can be, but I may need to burn powder by then.

Yeah but when you say 200+ that means less then 250 or it would say 250+. Just makes me think it is going to be 5 or 6 really low round count stages. Like shoot 6 popers reload shoot 3 targets and stuff like that. With hotel and gas and food thats alot of money for something I can do at my home club.
