Iowa Back-to-back Single-stack And Revolver Matches

It's official, the notice is posted on the USPSA match calendar, and the entry form is posted here: http://www.ioweb.com/oops/

Note that only Single-Stack can be shot on Saturday, and only Revo can be shot on Sunday. We will be changing the stages between the matches. Note the revolver match will include a Revo-appropriate 6-round neutral classifier.

This is going to be big fun, guys!

You've seen all these articles in Front Sight about the good old days, right? Now's your chance to live it! Retro is cool, and it doesn't get any more retro in our game than 1911s and wheelguns! (Feel free to leave the tight shorts and tube socks in the bottom drawer.....)

Stages are being designed now--let me know if you have any requests.

Questions? Post here, or you can email or call me for more info.

Des Moines is definitely the closest "major" airport (45 minutes). KC is not too bad a drive (2.5 to 3 hours), and sometimes can be much cheaper to fly into.

Osceola has several decent motels, as well as a bona fide casino/hotel (Terrible's).

Looking forward to both. Unless I can talk Zip into going, as he is originally from Iowa, I will be the only Minnesotan shooting both days that I know of.

Zip is trying to make it work. Right now I have a family conflict but I am 90% sure I will make it both days. The way the summer is going it might be my very first match. Crap, I just bought a new single stack so I can shoot Saturday - I had better make it down there! :D

Guys, the entries are starting to arrive and so far, the Revolver entries are well ahead of Single-Stack! (Last year we had between 40 and 50 Single-Stack shooters at this match.) Remember, we can accommodate 60 shooters per match.

Still looking for a couple experienced ROs to help out. Drop me a PM or email if interested.

Stages are roughed out, and I think they look great! We're planning 6 long field courses, 3 speed shoots, and the new ultimate hoser classifier: http://www.uspsa.com/classifiers/06-03.pdf Two of the long courses are "Rambo-style" through-the-woods stages, those are always great to get the adrenalin pumping!

We're using most of our club's props and equipment (door, star, activators, etc.), and we are planning a few twists just to keep things interesting. After the stages are finalized and approved, we'll make them available here so everybody can see what we have planned.

Guys, if at all possible, jump on this one. It could turn out to be another record-setter, which is what USPSA's leaders and memberships need to see from us.

Remember, $30 for one match, $50 for both. How can you go wrong??

Thanks for the reminder, Mike.

The form is sitting on my desk at home. I'll fill it out tonight and mail it tomorrow.

Is there gonna be any no-shoots this year?

Mike,

I'm working on this one, I really want to attend. Unfortunately my squad this year is short one guy, so it's tough to arrange time off. Hopefully we'll either have a new guy fill the squad out or nobody wants this particular weekend off. I'll run it past the guys and hopefully start making traveling plans.

Rob, it's kind of a long haul, but I really hope you can make it out for the Iowa match. We will do our very best to make it worthwhile for all of our friends in both Revo and SS divisions.

Anyone heard from BagMaster Dan about shooting this match?

I have an extra 1911 if you don't have one, Dan. :D

Dan won 2 1911's at the IRC. He just has to decide which to shoot.

He should give me one so I can shoot ;)
