ima45dv8
Almost blind for practical purposes. Just reading my desktop's screen requires me to get within ~6-8 inches. Smart phone a little closer, depending on font and other factors. I fired my first opthamologist due to poorly executed tests administered by a trainee or intern. Apparently it didn't rattle the doctors confidence when reviewing tests results, and one result caused her to blurt out, "That's not possible!" Her next statement was, "Well, we'll re-run that test the day of surgery before we begin." I was very lucky to receive highly qualified counsel from one of our members here, who wasn't too impressed, either. First meeting with new doctor scheduled for 28Feb. hiker88
I had a cataract surgery a couple of years ago on my left eye. The actual procedure itself only lasted about 15 minutes. Painless for me. I wish had done it sooner.
392heminut
Glad you found a good Dr., you need to be confident in the care you are receiving. Good luck on your treatment, I hope it all comes out great for you.
MHicks
Doc says one or two years for me for surgery. Vision changed more this year but still correctable. Good luck to you.
Buzzdraw
Once my eyes were not correctable to a good shooting script, I promptly had my regular eye doc refer me to specialist to do the lens replacements. This office was most professional, as was the surgeon who did the work. He does LOTS of surgery with very few complications. Took a few weeks for eyes to settle down to point I could return to regular eye doc for an updated shooting script. All was fine for a couple years until I had a retinal detachment start. Off to urgent surgery with another highly qualified doc. I was one of the unlucky 6-8% of those with cataract replacement surgery, who have a partial retinal detachment ensue. I am back to shooting again, with excellent vision.
ima45dv8
First eye set for surgery next week. Dominant (right) eye currently registers as 20/250. Left eye only a little better. Astigmatism-correcting Torix lenses planned for both. Mono-correction with dominant eye set for near. Anxiety level pretty high at times. I'm so thankful that technology has progressed to the point of being able to help.
RangerTrace
Call Youngeyes and run it by him first. I'm sure it's fine, but he knows his stuff and has helped me a lot.

ChuckS
I just had an eye exam last week. It has been 7.25 years since my cataract surgery and I am still doing better than 20/20 in both eyes at distance. I'm happy
ima45dv8
Just had my 1 WEEK checkup, and dominant/right eye registered 20/20. One down; one to go.
Dr. Phil
Awesome! Good for you! When I had mt 1st eye done I turned on a baseball game that night. I called my wife in and said, "Look how green the field is!" She said, "They are always that green..." My right eye ended up a bit better than 20.20 and the left is 2-/40 uncorrected. Like hiker88 said, I wish I had it done sooner! hiker88
By the way, after my cataract surgery, that red dot became perfectly round. No more star burst. The only issue was I had surgery on my left eye…and I’m right eye dominant.
Schutzenmeister
Yeah, I had both eyes done 10-12 years ago. I also do quite a bit of photography. I was STUNNED at the difference it made in my perception of color. Before, everything had a yellow tint. You don't notice it because the shift was so slow as your eyes changed. But ... BAMM! Suddenly you see things correctly. I had to readjust my approach to everything, color wise.
