konkapot
Is this a way to go? I've got some old timey cop guns that I don't want milled. There are some adapter plates that fit in the rear sight dovetail. Will this work?
SteelCityShooter
Yes, they work very well. EGW makes them to fit a wide variety of pistols and revolvers and a wide variety of red dots. There are several other makers and some of the red dot manufacturers offer their own versions. They don't mount the dot quite as low as milling the slide or optic-ready factory guns but the difference isn't that much. I've used them on an M&P9, Ruger SR and Ruger and S&W revolvers and been quite pleased with them.
dapribek
Agree with above. The dovetail mounts are an easy, economical way to mount a red dot. EGW mounts are top notch.
konkapot
Thanks fellas. Don't know why this didn't occur to me sooner. If anyone has installation tips please reach out
dapribek
EGW probably has either an installation video or web page to help you out.
Tampa-XD45
I've even used this cheapo UTC mount in a Glock dovetail with great results: https://www.amazon.com/UTG-Super-Slim-RMR-Mount/dp/B091PWXBFR
Lightj75
Heres another endorsement for the EGW mounts. I used one on my SP01 my whole first season of uspsa and fired around 6-7k rounds with no problems they are solid
dapribek
My buddy has a pistol that wasn’t on their web page. He called and they advised him which mount would work. Great customer service!
