stick
Sort your brass and get rid of the military and crimped brass (it's maybe 2-3%) Keep all the major name brands and you'll never have a problem. I would worry more about stepped brass than crimped brass. Stay away from IMI or anything that looks like this inside.

Pgosnell
So this thread went sideways, helpful, but not really focused on my initial question of load recipes

Pgosnell
No arguing, I appreciate all the help and advice I can get. I went thru a random handful of my range brass and only found one NATO round so far and it was marked with a sharpie, so probably already swaged. Did not see any other crimped primers in over 100 randoms. Doesn't mean they dont exist, but to get started I'm leaning towards xl750. If we run into too many crimped primer issues we can always sell and upgrade to 1050. Just have heard bad stories about priming station on 1050. AHI
Have had zero problems with the primer system on 4 different 1050s. Now CFE/auto comp is a full power powder needs Psi to burn clean. Have only used it with 115 and 124 bullets. With a 147 your going to need almost max charges to get minor power factor. its a great powder to duplicate recoil etc of most factory loads. Pgosnell
Thanks for powder heads up, CFE was the only powder available right now, will be looking for Sport Pistol, maybe save the 147 for that.
AHI
Bulls Eye is a often over looked powder and usually available. One of my favorite powders.

AHI
3.2 Sport PISTOL 147gr bullet chronograph you may have to go up/down a .1 or two for your gun/bullet. your length will depend on your gun/barrel. bullet profile. 2011s i usually load at 1.160 . Glocks at 1.140 Bulls Eye loads the same just takes .1 less.

Jim Watson
I don't know about the Cool Guys, but I am now loading a 147 gr Xtreme plated roundnose to 1.16" and about 900 fps for f 132. That could be shaved a bit but I am going to stick with it til I use up my supply of 147s, after which I am going to 124s. I'll probably load them to a bit lower power factor, I only shoot club matches and don't need a large Chronoman safety factor. I am shooting a STI Eagle 2011. I have Gen 1, Gen 2, and MBX magazines. All feed roundnose bullets reliably. I am getting out of 9mm flat points and .45 semiwadcutters. The tweaking of gun and load is just more work than I care to put in any more; I am going roundnose all the way.
Batmo
30 minutes ago, Pgosnell said: What should my target velocity be...got a chrono coming 3.1 grains of Sports Pistol pushing a .356 dia 147 grain coated bullet at 1.135 OAL averages about 880 fps. This is what I get from my XDM 5.25.

Use this PF calculator https://www.dillonprecision.com/power-factor-calculator.html Then adjust velocity for accuracy.
AHI
like to see 900 to 960 for best accuracy and power factor that is 130 to 140 power factor you can go lower Edited April 22, 2020 by AHI
