  1. Yea...I can understand that...it's like I'm directing the orchestra.....it's all in the timing of getting the shot off
  2. That's great....what was your hit factor.
  3. Put JM grips on my L and N frame revolvers hoping they would make me nearly as fast as Jerry.....well that didn't happen ! But they fit my hand much better than the finger groove rubber grips that came from the factory.
  4. Springer has a black one piece guide rod in stock....stainless is out of stock at this time. Purchased one for my 5.25 Elite (in stainless) a while back with standard spring...works great.
  5. Hey....I'm not getting any respect here at 70+....but didn't get any before either.
  6. 3.0 grains SP/147 grain coated RN bullet/oal 1.110/130 PF/XDM 5.25. minimum recoil.
  7. Never had any problems with Winchester SPP in any of my pistols. Just a thought....if the firing pin channel is dirty it could cause light strikes.
  8. Did a test with my 929 a few years back with different bullet sizes.....356, .357, and .358. They were all 147 gr. RN coated bullets loaded with the same powder and OAL. The groups got smaller as the bullet size increased.
  9. Springer Precision may have what you're looking for.
  10. At the three clubs where I shoot we use both.....don't have enough pasters to go around.....we also use black and white tape for the hard cover and no shoot targets.
  11. Maybe not....but it made the rifle shoot better.
  12. With that "said" I'm a bit surprised.....but not really that shooters would only clean after an equipment failure. That opens a box of questions ???? I was taught that cleaning was part of shooting . My teacher held 9 national records during his life time. Thanks Dad !
  13. When I was young it was a race to the top.....now that I'm old....it's a race to the bottom.
  14. I've been an RO for the past 5 years and have worked both local matches and level 2. I feel it's my way of helping support USPSA and the two local clubs where I shoot. If a CRO seminar became available in my area I would more then likely take it. We can't all be just shooters...we need RO's and CRO's for the sport to continue.
  15. I made my own out of thin brass sheeting until I found Brass dental picks...set of 4...works great and won't scratch stainless.
  16. No problem with Wilson Combat mags in my custom built 9mm 1911. Not running an ICE magwell though.
  17. Different molds = different lengths and weighs. The same mold can also be subject in weight...especially when mass produced.
  18. I have the EGW 7 hole 9mm case gauge and LOVE it !!! Yes it's tight...and I check every reloaded round.....it has saved me from problems during practice and competition. If it fits in the gauge I have confidence the round will chamber in any of my 9"s.
  19. Had my gunsmith add a second screw on my XDM 5.25. It has been rock solid. The 5.25 wasn't originally designed for a optic sight. Springer did a Great job on the mount with what they had to work with.
  20. Black Bullets International had some in stock a few weeks back....took about 5 days....free shipping. They were only shipping UPS....so weight was limited to 48 lbs. Still got 2200 147 grain bullets at a reasonable price.
  21. That sounds like a really good starting point....adjust that by 1/10th of a grain at a time to find your sweet spot. Make sure you "plunk" test OAL. You should be good to go very shortly....Good Luck.
  22. Thanks for sharing, I am confused on the PF data. I did end up finding Aliant's data sheet for 147g and was starting just as you recommended with 3.1. I started with the following minus 10% which is your 3.1. 9mm Luger 147 FP Federal 1.08 4 Fed 100 Sport Pistol 3.5 890 I have not chrono graphed these yet just doing the math at this point to estimate PF which gives me an approximate of 118. FPS @800 X147 = 117747. I am shooting out of a 4" barrel for my IDPA weapon. I'm new to a lot of the PF requirements so wondering if I'm computing my "guestimates" incorrectly. Your math estimate is correct but without a chronograph achieving a correct PF is a guessing game at best. Barrel length...bullet diameter...crimp....OAL and temperature are just a few things that would come into play in determining the numbers for estimating the PF from any particular fire arm. Loading data is only a guide line and may not produce the same results with what you are shooting. I found that 3.5 grains of Sports Pistol was a little hot in the pistols that I tested and settled on the 3.0/3.1 grain load. I found this load to be extremely accurate at 15 yards shooting my XDM 5.25 and a custom built 9mm 1911. Good Luck with your future loads.
  23. 3.0 grains of Sports Pistol is my standard load for all 147 grain coated bullets. OAL may vary depending on bullet shape. This load produces a powder factor of about 129. For competition loads where a coronagraph will be involved I load at 3.1 grains just to be sure I don't go sub-minor
  24. A Buddy.....a Master shooter who is also my gunsmith and the person who got me started in this game swears on the rare occasion when I've won a stage or a match that we are no longer friends and he's not talking to me anymore. Doesn't happen very often and both shooting Super Senior our memories are short anyway.
