Removing carbon from Extension tube.

Morning all,

I'm running my Beretta 1301 in still. I was having some problems cycling fibre wads. I've been using 32 gram plastic to get it sweet. It's almost there. But, my problem concerns the carbon build up on the Nordic Extension tube. It's unsightly and I like the gun to look clean. Can anyone suggest a cleaning solution. I'm trying to avoid marking the tube. This it after 50 shells.

I use Shooters' Choice bore solvent or WD40 or eeuivalent penetrating oil ang brass brush. Dont mar the finish. But mine is Taccom.

Just wrap some electrical tape over it.  After a match, replace the tape.  Good as new.

What ever you use to clean your barrels will do it. Better yet, get over the carbon, and don't worry about it. You'll not feel bad when it goes into a dump barrel.

I always thought it was lead building up on my extension tube.

Well it cleaned up nicely with Hoppes and a small brass brush. It is stubborn though. An ordinary toothbrush wasn't cutting into it. If your doing it lubricate the area then brass brush........if you only use the brush it coats the area in brasstain. Anyway it's sorted. I'll use tape in future.

I have the shooters source red +2, I've used some hoppes but not the brass brush. I'll certainly be trying this, I have extended chokes but the extension bumps it past the choke tubes.
