1911 MAGAZINE BASE PAD ?

Just got a SA champion 9mm. it came with 4 magazines with no base pad. I am planning on having a mag well installed, which base pads can I get for SA mags. thanks

Plenty out there. But I use the Dawson mags, which includes the Dawson competition base pads. They can be bought separately, and are designed so the gun will still fit the box.

+1 for Dawson base plates, I'd run them even if I used another brand of magwell.

That said, what brand of magazines come with a SA 9mm? Are Dawson's available?

I used the Wilson glue on pads because they are cheap, work well and easy to attach. You just use a little urethane glue.

My last Springfield came with metal form 9rd. mags. Not really what you want for SS minor. Get good 10 rd. mags. I like my Dawsons, others swear by Tripp Cobra, and still others the Wilson ETM's. New mags to consider are the Chip McCormick and Brownells 10 rd. mags. To your original question, get the Dawson screw-on base pads, if you have mags with welded bases. They will work with any magwell, are shaped to fit in the box, and add a touch of weight to drop the mag quicker.

Pretty sure the SA's dont give you the option of Dawson's. Gotta go with something that glues or screws on to the welded basepad.

Hello: If you want screw on base pads Dawson makes some out of aluminum. J&J Products make some out of plastic and they come in different colors that screw on also. The J&J are very light weight if weight is a concern. Thanks, Eric
